She's a percussionist.

Debnam-Carey isn't just an actress; she's also a musician. She studied classical percussion at Australia's Newtown High School of the Performing Arts and participated in a composing workshop with members of the Berlin Philharmonic.

She starred in a reality series.

Debnam-Carey was one of the stars of the 2013 reality series "Next Stop Hollywood," which followed a group of Australian actors who traveled to Los Angeles for six weeks to audition for roles in American TV pilots. When she was cast on "Fear the Walking Dead," Debnam-Carey had never watched the original series. She promptly rectified that situation. When she was a guest on "Jimmy Kimmel Live," she explained, "I thought it was a great excuse to binge-watch three weeks of amazing TV. So, I did, and then I just fell in love with it. I had to actually stop myself because I started getting like — not confused — but the worlds were colliding a little bit. It was kind of informing many of my [acting] choices."

This season, Lexa, Debnam-Carey's character on "The 100," embarked on a romance with Clarke, played by Eliza Taylor. Many of the show's fans loved the couple. When Lexa was killed shortly after she had sex with Clarke for the first time, many viewers thought that the plot twist was homophobic, citing numerous other TV series that killed off lesbian characters. The show's producers insist that they killed off Lexa only because Debnam-Carey's "Fear the Walking Dead" filming schedule prevented her from continuing to work on "The 100."

She wants to play with knives.

Debnam-Carey hopes that her character on "Fear the Walking Dead" will evolve into a knife-wielding warrior. She told the Daily Beast, "I will say that there was a weapon that was planted in one of the [Season 2] episodes that I was given, a switchblade. And then the next episode it was taken from her. And I was like, 'No, you can’t take this. That’s like her weapon now!'... I was just fascinated by using it and playing with it, and all the stunt guys were teaching me tricks on how to use it ... I went on YouTube and saw videos of Angelina Jolie on some talk show showing people switchblade tricks. I was like, ‘That’s what I want to do.'"

She worked with a star of "The Walking Dead."

So far, there have not been any crossovers between "Fear The Walking Dead" and the original "The Walking Dead." However, off-screen Debnam-Carey has crossed paths with a star of the original series. She played a supporting role in the 2014 tornado action thriller Into the Storm. The film starred Sarah Wayne Callies, who played Lori Grimes on the first three seasons of "The Walking Dead."
