Niko And The Sword Of Light Comic Book Launches July 21

July 21 just got even bigger for fans of Niko and the Sword of Light

Not only does Amazon's all-new Niko and the Sword animated series launch on Prime Video on the 21st, but Amazon has now announced that fans can rev up to watch the series by enjoying an original Niko and the Sword of Light comic book -- for free. Launching the same day as the series, the comic book will be available as a free digital download exclusively on Comixology. 

The comic book is written by acclaimed kids television writer Rob Hoegee (Generator Rex, League of Super Evil, Storm HawksTeen Titans), Ernie Altbacker (Legend QuestNexo KnightsGreen Lantern: The Animated Series), and Matt Wayne (Ben 10 Omniverse, Justice League Action). Hoegee is the showrunner, executive producer and writer for the animated series while Altbacker and Wayne are writers on the series. Amazon has something new in store for the summer. This week, the streaming service announced their new TV show Niko and the Sword of Light will premiere in July.The animated series " follows 10-year-old Niko, the last of his kind in a strange, fantastical world, as he embarks on an epic quest to defeat the darkness and bring the light back to his land." ‘Young and the Restless,’ ‘Mind of a Chef’ Lead Daytime Emmy Creative Arts Winners
CBS’ “The Young and the Restless” and PBS’ “Mind of a Chef” topped the leaderboard Friday at the 43rd annual Daytime Creative Arts Emmy Awards with five wins apiece.

The haul for “Young and the Restless” including nods for lighting, makeup and art direction in a daytime series during the ceremony held at the Bonaventure Hotel in downtown Los Angeles. “Mind of a Chef’s” Gabrielle Hamilton and David Kinch grabbed the trophy for culinary hosts while helmers Anna Choi and Siobhan Walshe won for lifestyle/culinary/travel program directing.

Patricia Heaton now has a Daytime Emmy to go with her two wins for “Everybody Loves Raymond.” Food Network’s “Patricia Heaton Parties” was deemed best culinary program. The syndicated “Judge Judy” bagged another win for legal/courtroom program.

Good Girls Revolt, Patriot, One Mississippi: Amazon Orders Eight New TV Series

Amazon has ordered eight new TV series for 2016. Three are being made for children -- Danger & Eggs, If You Give a Mouse a Cookie, and Niko and the Sword of Light -- while the other five are aimed at an adult audience -- Highston, One Mississippi, Z: The Beginning of Everything, Good Girls Revolt, and Patriot.

Highston Highston Liggetts (newcomer Lewis Pullman) is a 19-year-old with a wide circle of celebrity friends—that only he can see. Amazon Renews "High Castle" And More

Amazon have confirmed that its TV series adaptation of Philip K. Dick's Hugo Award-winning 1962 alternative history novel "The Man in the High Castle" has scored a second season renewal.

Ten new episodes will screen on the streaming service in 2016. That was just the start of a busy day of renewals for the streaming service which also renewed the Ron Perlman-led "Hand of God," the coming-of-age comedy "Red Oaks" and the kid's show "Tumble Leaf".

The company has also handed out series orders to "Highston," "One Mississippi," "Z: The Beginning of Everything," "Good Girls Revolt" and "Patriot" as well as children's series "Danger & Eggs," "If You Give a Mouse a Cookie" and "Niko and the Sword of Light".

Amazon Picks Up Slew of Comedy, Drama, Kids Series
Following the series order for “Good Girls Revolt” and the second season renewals for “Man in the High Castle,” “Red Oaks” and “Hand of God,” Amazon has picked up three comedy series, plus one more drama, Variety has learned.

Tig Notaro’s comedy “One Mississippi” was picked up, in addition to 30-minute series “Highston” from Sacha Baron Cohen and “Z: The Beginning of Everything,” which stars Christina Ricci. The drama “Patriot” has also been picked up. Additionally, Amazon ordered kids’ series “Danger & Eggs, “If You Give a Mouse a Cookie” and “Niko and the Sword of Light.”

Dark comedy “One Mississippi,” starring comedian Notaro, is a story loosely based on her life. A co-production with FX Prods., the series follows her as she deals with the complex reentry into her childhood hometown of Bay Saint Lucille, Miss., to deal with the unexpected death of her mother.
