The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon (TV Series 2014– ) Poster

Trivia

During the opening theme sequence, just as Fallon comes through the curtain, The Roots drummer Questlove calls out the episode number for that show.
Jimmy Fallon was originally supposed to take over when Jay Leno's contract expired in September 2014. However, Leno suggested that Fallon take over earlier in February, to take advantage of the ratings for the 2014 Winter Olympics.
After mentioning a one-eyed rockfish with a glass eye at the Vancouver Aquarium, the aquarium named the fish "Jimmy," in Jimmy Fallon's honor.
The opening credit sequence was directed by Spike Lee.
At the end of each show, Jimmy Fallon climbs the stairs to greet and high five his audience.
The Roots added two horn players from Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings to play with them on the show. According to bandleader Ahmir-Khalib Thompson, "You can't be 'The Tonight Show' without a horn section."
The show's studio, NBC Studio 6B, was the same studio that The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson (1962) was originally broadcast from. This was the first time "The Tonight Show" was regularly broadcast in New York City since Carson moved the show to Burbank in 1972.
Steve Higgins is the announcer of "The Tonight Show" and knows Jimmy Fallon from his time on Saturday Night Live (1975), since he is also a writer and producer for SNL.
This was the first time that the theme song for "The Tonight Show" had lyrics ("Hey hey hey hey").
Instead of calling out the actual show number during the opening, sometimes Quest Love will yell out the name of a city that falls in that show's number's zip code (first three numbers). For example, Show #902, he might say "Beverly Hills," because Beverly Hills' zip code is 90210.
In June 2015 Jimmy Fallon almost lost his finger after tripping over a braided rug in his kitchen. After surgery, for a few weeks, he presented the Tonight show with a bandage on his hand. In October that same year he fell again at an event at Harvard. The following Tonight show he started with the words 'I'm your host, Trippy Fallon'.
The show moved from Los Angeles to New York City when Jimmy Fallon started hosting "The Tonight Show." It debuted on February 17, 2014.
