E! Developing Supernatural Romantic Drama From Deborah Kaplan And Harry Elfont

Exclusive: E! has added another project to its scripted development slate: a high-concept romantic drama from feature writer-directors Deborah Kaplan and Harry Elfont (Can’t Hardly Wait). The project, from E! sibling Universal Cable Prods. and Aaron Kaplan’s Kapital Entertainment, centers on a young entertainment lawyer who dies but is determined to pursue a romance with a woman who’s still alive — while he exists in limbo in New York City, working for the department that judges the recently departed. Elfont, Deborah Kaplan and Aaron Kaplan (no relation) executive produce. CAA-repped Kaplan and Elfont have been partners since meeting at Nyu’s Tisch School of the Arts. They recently wrote Men Are From Mars, Women Are From Venus for Lionsgate with Reese Witherspoon attached to star. On the TV side, the duo wrote and executive produced the ABC comedy pilot American Judy starring Judy Greer last season. Expanding E!

Upfront 2012: What Pilots Are Still Alive

The broadcast networks left an uncharacteristically small number of pilots in midseason contention this year. The strongest among them is the Fox drama Guilty starring Cuba Gooding Jr, who tested very high. The network picked up only two new drama series for next season, making a third order a possibility despite limited shelf space. Magical procedural Gotham still has a pulse at ABC and also is exploring a potential cable play. There are several pilots that are dead but their concepts are not: ABC comedy Only Fools And Horses, based on a British series and which is a favorite of ABC boss Paul Lee, will likely be redeveloped. Ditto for American Judy as ABC brass love star Judy Greer and the fish-out-of-water premise of her pilot this year and are looking to develop a new vehicle for her in that vein. Similarly, the CW is expected to take another stab

Garrett Greer: What Could Be Coming To ABC This Fall

Garrett Greer: What Could Be Coming To ABC This Fall
Every year, the five major broadcast networks (ABC, CBS, The CW, Fox and NBC) order pilots to be considered for the fall season. A pilot, as you may know, is the first episode of a TV series and the final step in a long development process from idea to screen.

From the 87 drama and comedy pilots ordered this year, a new crop of television shows will be selected -- and I read the scripts for each and every one of them. Over the course of this week, I'll walk you through the network's pilot slates, offer a bit of analysis on their present schedules and provide you with a rundown of the drama contenders. (Plus, a little bit of info about the comedies, too.) Of course, not all of these shows will find their way to your TV set -- in fact, most of them you may never hear of again.

Judy Greer Sticks Up For George Clooney

Get More: Music Videos, Free Music Videos

If there’s one man who really needs folks to come to his defense, it’s George Clooney. In some weird alternate universe, maybe. But anyway, we were a tiny bit surprised (but also nodding in half agreement), by what his Descendants co-star Judy Greer had to say about him losing the Oscar to Jean Dujardin. She was promoting her role in Jeff, Who Lives at Home, and though it was already weeks after the Oscars, we wanted to ask what she enjoyed most about the whirlwind of red carpets and interviews and fancy-dress parties that is awards season. And her answer was refreshingly frank.

“I thought I was going to say the Oscars were the highlight, but I was really disappointed that George didn’t win,” the Arrested Development alum told VH1 News. “I was disappointed that the movie didn’t win and Alexander as well,

'Nashville,' 'Gilded Lilys' and more ABC pilots we're looking forward to for 2012-13

In about two months, the networks will start revealing their programming lineups for the 2012-13 season. But Zap2it would like to give you a head start about which ones have caught our eyes. Plus, there are so many pilots and actors filling up roles being announced that we would also like to hopefully simplify things for you.

The (enormous) caveat is, of course, that we haven't seen these pilots because most of them haven't finished (or even started) filming yet. But here are the pilots from ABC that we think look promising.

Dramas

"666 Park Avenue": This one-hour spookfest is about a young couple (Dave Annable and Rachael Taylor) who has come to manage one of the most historical apartment buildings in New York City. But all is not what it seems, as supernatural goings-on complicate things. We like scary and the addition of Terry O'Quinn and Vanessa Williams

Ken Marino provides another reason to watch Judy Greer's new sitcom despite its annoying title

Although it still boasts a name that makes us want to dismantle America and sell it for parts to Japan, just so it can’t be called that anymore, ABC’s upcoming American Judy continues to demand our preliminary support by starring refugees from canceled cult comedies who deserve better, even if that refuge is called American Judy. Joining the show’s namesake, Arrested Development and Archer star Judy Greer, will be Ken Marino, a guy who boasts his own impressive list of great canceled series (Party Down, Veronica Mars) and cult comedy gigs (The State, Childrens Hospital). Marino will ...

'Happy Days' Vet Heads Back To Small Screen

'Happy Days' Vet Heads Back To Small Screen
"Happy Days" star Marion Ross is headed to NBC's "Up All Night," reports TVLine.

The former "Happy Days" star will play Chris' (Will Arnett) tough, doting grandmother. While Chris is the apple of Gammy’s eye, she can hardly stand Reagan (Christina Applegate). We sense that there's some family drama on the way.
