Take Me Review: The Perfect Post-Thanksgiving Dinner Movie

Take Me Review: The Perfect Post-Thanksgiving Dinner Movie
It's Thanksgiving. You and the family have just finished your meal. And you want some lighter fare, suffering from the tryptophan buffet you just willingly engorged yourself with. The kids are off playing on their tablets. The game is over, and the adults need a swift 80 minute distraction before tearing into pumpkin pie and cobbler. Why not check out one of Netflix's looked-over gems from the past few months. It's the perfect little slice of desert before the desert. Don't spend hours searching the queue, arguing over what you're going to watch. Just select Take Me and go!

Take Me, while not a Netflix Original (it is only "Presented By Netflix"), is a home run for all the parties concerned. This whimsical tale of a simulated kidnapping gone very, very wrong is probably the first film to truly pull off this motif since 1986's Ruthless People or 1988's A Fish Called Wanda.

Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes: Inside Their Very Private Relationship
Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes are possibly Hollywood’s most cryptic couple — the actors have kept their six-year relationship so hidden from the media that photos of them holding hands are often treated as breaking news.

With Gosling’s starring role in Blade Runner 2049, which hits theaters on Oct. 6, the 36-year-old actor’s relationship with 43-year-old Mendes is back in the spotlight: Juggling red carpet appearances and family time with their two daughters. Let’s take a look back at their relationship timeline.

The Essential Ryan Gosling Films

Continuing in the build up to Blade Runner 2049 [read our review here], Tom Jolliffe takes a look at the essential Ryan Gosling

In the past decade, Ryan Gosling has seen something of a transformation. He’s developed into an actor who can be relied upon to deliver a note worthy performance. He’s gone from being a romantic leading man to someone of diverse and dramatic range. An actor able to do quiet intensity as well as something more theatrical.

Blade Runner 2049 will see Gosling take a step into not only blockbuster territory but an iconic film world with a 35 year legacy. He’s never been one to do something lightly, and the step into the mega budget film arena was only ever going to be carefully chosen. It goes without saying though, that the combination of a returning Ford, Denis Villeneuve and Roger Deakins probably made this one a no brainer,

Harrison Ford is opening up about which of Ryan Gosling's films inspired him to work with the young star, and it turns out there's one movie that absolutely had nothing to do with it.

"It wasn't The Notebook," Ford jokingly admitted to Et's Lauren Zima at a junket for their upcoming sci-fi sequel over the weekend.

"I'm gonna take a wild stab in the dark and say it wasn’t," added Gosling, who joined his co-star for the interview. "It wasn't The Notebook."

"Everything I've seen him do was a challenge well met. It was more than I thought you could possibly do," Ford shared. "I mean, the discipline to learn all the dancing, the singing and the keyboard [in La La Land]… but also [films like] The Place Beyond the Pines. I've been watching him for years and I really admire what he's done."

Valerian And The City Of A Thousand Planets is writer/director Luc Besson’s latest sci-fi action/adventure film, starring Dane DeHaan and Cara Delevingne as a team of special agents wisecracking and flirting their way through danger as they race to unravel the puzzle of what or who is threatening to destroy the interstellar city of Alpha. The film also stars Clive Owen, Ethan Hawk and singer Rihanna.

Valerian And The City Of A Thousand Planets is spectacular visually, with one fabulous, colorful, fantastical vision after another, and the film completely delivers on that level.

The 3D action/adventure film is based on a French sci-fi graphic novel series, “Valerian and Laureline,” or just “Valerian.” The long-running comic series,

'Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets' Review: Luc Besson Makes a Sci-Fi Mess

'Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets' Review: Luc Besson Makes a Sci-Fi Mess
Confession: There are times when I've been loyally in Luc Besson's corner – the visual splendor of Subway (1985), The Big Blue (1988) and La Femme Nikita (1990) established him as a master of what the French call Cinéma du Look. And 1994's The Professional – with Jean Reno teaching the assassin's game to a very young Natalie Portman – went deeper, blending style with a nurturing sense of humanity. Plus, there's a lot to be said in favor of both his sci-fi extravaganza The Fifth Element (1997) and last year's next-level ScarJo-evolution whatsit Lucy.

Mike Patton to Score the Soundtrack for Netflix's Stephen King Movie 1922

Mike Patton to Score the Soundtrack for Netflix's Stephen King Movie 1922
Musical chameleon Mike Patton has announced that he's working on a score for the Netflix adaptation of the Stephen King novella 1922. In November of last year, it was announced that Netflix would be making a movie based on King's short story. Zak Hilditch will direct the movie based off of the screenplay that he wrote. The story is told through the narration of the main character who confesses to murdering his wife and later believes that she is haunting him. Not much else has been revealed about the movie, but we have learned that Mike Patton has already composed the score.

Mike Patton, who is probably best known as the lead singer of the experimental rock band Faith No More, recently spoke to Rolling Stone about his new black metal project Dead Cross with ex-Slayer drummer Dave Lombardo. At the end of the article, Patton casually mentions that he has
