'Peelers' to have Canadian Theatrical release and U.S. VOD release

The makers of the Independent Cult Horror feature film Skew (2011) bring you their balls-to-the-wall action/horror follow-up flick Peelers.

Directed by Sevé Schelenz, starring Wren Walker, Caz Odin Darko, and Madison J. Loos, Peelers will have its Canadian theatrical release March 24, 2017 (from TWMedia Events) and release on VOD March 28, 2017 (from Uncork’d Entertainment).

Former baseball player Blue Jean Douglas is closing down her small-town strip club and leaving for good. But her plans are not so easily attained when a group of coal miners show up and with them a deadly contaminant. What starts out as a last hurrah for the infamous strip club, turns into a blood bath. With time running out, Blue Jean must step up to the plate to try and put a stop to the spread of destruction before it’s too late and she loses everything she holds dear.

Sales outfit is bringing six market premieres to Berlin.

Ahead of the European Film Market (Efm) at the Berlin Film Festival (Feb 9-19), genre sales specialists Devilworks has revealed more detail about its slate of films.

The company’s full slate features six market premieres, including sci-fi thriller Incontrol from director Kurtis David Harder (Cody Fitz). Starring Levi Meaden (Aftermath, Pacific Rim: Uprising) and Rory J. Saper (The Legend Of Tarzan), the film tells the story of a group of university students who discover a device that allows them to take control of other people.

Program announced for Sydney’s 10th annual Horror, Sci-Fi & Fantasy Film Festival

Presented by Deadhouse Films, The 10th annual A Night of Horror International Film Festival, and Fantastic Planet: Sydney Sci-Fi and Fantasy Film Festival, screen simultaneously at Dendy Cinemas Newtown from November 24 to December 4, 2016. Says festival director Dean Bertram:

The 10th annual festival is going to be our biggest event yet. Featuring over 100 films, several international filmmaker guests, multiple parties and a horror filmmaking master class; Sydney’s genre fans and filmmaking community are going to be treated to eleven days of the best and freshest horror, sci-fi, and fantasy from around the globe.

The festival opens on Thursday November 24, with the Australian premiere of the international festival hit Peelers, plus a Q&A with special international guest: Canadian director Sevé Schelenz. Uncork’d Entertainment picks up 'Peelers'

Exclusive: Company president Keith Leopold said on Tuesday his distributor has acquired Us rights to the upcoming zombie horror.

Leopard struck the Peelers deal with director Sevé Schelenz at the Sitges International Fantastic Film Festival ahead of a screening at the weekend.

Schelenz’s follow-up to cult Skew stars Wren Walker as a small-town strip club owner who must defend her bar from infected raiders on closing night.

Caz Odin Darko and Madison J. Loos co-star in the film, which Uncork’d plans to release in 2017.

The distributor’s slate includes Krampus on ancillary platforms, comedy Spaghettiman, horror-thriller All Girls Weekend, The Evil Gene and A Haunting In Cawdor.

The roster includes The Hollow and Doomed: The Untold Story Of Roger Corman’s Fantastic Four, which launches across digital platforms this week.

Complete Lineup Announced for the 2011 South African HorrorFest

One film festival I'm bound and determined to make it to one of these years is the South African HorrorFest, but for now I'll just have to live vicariously through those of you who live close enough to attend. And after taking a look at this year's lineup, I'm pretty sure that if you are in the area, you won't want to miss it!

Growing into the country's ultimate Halloween event covering indie, new and classic movies, short films, music, literature and a range of Halloween festivities, 2011 marks the annual South African HorrorFest's lucky 7th year! It runs 26 October through 4 November.

Almost each of the exciting feature films and short films make their South African theatrical premieres. The Makabra Ensemble will also debut their Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde movie soundtrack performance, live to the screening of this 1920 silent classic.

2011 PollyGrind: Official Lineup

The 2nd annual PollyGrind assaults Las Vegas during an epic length film festival that runs Oct. 8-17 at Theatre 7 with enough sleaze and violence to make Sin City residents feel right at home.

Actually, the fest does open up on the 7th with a concert at Neon Venus with local acts like Monster Zero, Creepersin and many more.

However, the film portion of the fest opens on the 8th with Stuart Simpson‘s acclaimed Australian gorefest El Monstro Del Mar!, one of the best Russ Meyer/Roger Corman mash-ups with a Down Under twist. Read the Bad Lit: The Journal of Underground Film review of this gem here.

2011 Spooky Movie International Horror Film Festival: Official Lineup

The Spooky Movie International Horror Film Festival is, once again, set to push the boundaries of modern horror with their sixth annual edition that will run for four terrifying nights on Oct. 13-16 at the Artisphere theater in Washington, D.C.

For the opening night event on Oct. 13, Spooky Movie proves its international flair with the over-the-top Japanese zombie gorefest and action flick Helldriver, directed by Yoshihiro Nishimura, which will have two screenings, one for the early birds at 7:00 p.m. and one for the late-night crowd at 10:00 p.m.

The closing night film on the 16th is also an international affair: Joe Bauer’s The Killage, an Australian horror comedy that sends up the teen camp counselors slasher genre. Plus, there will be several Aussie short films accompanying this final feature.

We recently told you about the upcoming PollyGrind Film Festival, one of the premiere grindhouse film festivals, that's set to celebrate all-things B-Movie style in Las Vegas this October. Big Bear Horro-Fi Film Festival Announces Film Line-Up

It’s that time of year again! It's film festival season, and we've got yet another one for you. This one goes out to all of you in the Big Bear Lake, California, area. Listen up because the Big Bear Horro-Fi Film Festival has dropped the names of the films and directors in this year's line-up.

Running from September 30 to October 2, the Big Bear Horro-Fi Film Festival features a panel of judges that includes composer Harry Manfredini, Felissa Rose Esposito Miller (Sleepaway Camp), and Tom DeSanto (X-Men, Transformers) and a slate of 8 feature films and 16 shorts.
