Cable Networks Undergo Extreme Makeovers With New Logos, Slates
Makeovers don’t just make for good TV — they make for good business, too. Given ever-increasing competition to draw eyeballs in the crowded cable landscape, a number of nets have been shaking up their slates, reimagining their lineups as well as their logos.

Here’s a look at a few that changed everything but their names.

We TV

Out With The Old: Launched as “Women’s Entertainment” in 2001, We tv aired series that centered around weddings, celebrity lives and other female-focused concepts (“Braxton Family Values,” “Bridezillas”).

The New Spin: The network formally dropped the “Women’s Entertainment” tag in favor of “PoWEr” and “Welcome Back” in order to embrace a broader audience. “(Women’s Entertainment) not only feels outdated, but also alienates 150 million potential viewers,” explains Marc Juris, We tv’s president and general manager. The net is embracing edgier programming with its first scripted series, “The Divide,” and has

Tom Cruise Pic May Give Time Warner’s Turner a Calling Card in Coming TV Upfront

Time Warner’s Turner Broadcasting hopes it can prove its value to advertisers by giving publicity to a squadron of unbeatable aliens hell-bent on taking over the Earth.

Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt will appear in promotions for their Doug Liman-directed sci-fi movie, “Edge of Tomorrow,” that will run across the TV unit’s many properties: CNN, TNT, TBS, Adult Swim, TruTV and FunnyorDie, as well asd in select Turner Sports broadcasts. In doing so, however, Cruise and Blunt will help Turner – and perhaps other media conglomerates– put forth the notion that buying bigger packages of ads across a TV company’s holdings is a viable option

'Hardcore Pawn's' foodie Ashley Broad goes gluten-free

Ashley Broad of truTV's "Hardcore Pawn," airing Tuesdays, remains calm as her brother and father grow emotional.

People often walk into American Jewelry & Loan, the Detroit pawnshop her family owns, with unrealistic expectations, such as mistaking cubic zirconia for diamonds, and end up leaving no richer than when they entered.

As viewers of the show, now in its eighth season, have learned, Broad loves to cook, and she buys kitchenware for the store. Even mundane cooking items, however, are not immune to the strangeness that can enter a pawnshop's door.

"People bring in cooking things sometimes," she tells Zap2it. "In one particular episode, someone brought in a rotisserie oven -- and brought it in with a raw chicken. Unfortunately, the food and health department would not allow us to take it."

She does, though, buy pots, pans and cookware -- when they are devoid of poultry.

Her favorite items are "grills.
