The X Factor 2014 final: Ben Haenow wins – as it happened

Ben Haenow and Fleur East battled it out to become X Factor champion 2014, but who would win? Stuart Heritage was there for the final

9.59pm GMT

It’s all over! X Factor 2014 has reached its glorious conclusion. Ladies and gentlemen, we have discovered a new star. But enough about Stevi Ritchie, because Ben probably deserves some of your praise too.

Hand on heart, I can’t thank any of you enough for reading and commenting along in these liveblogs. This has been one of my favourite years to liveblog X Factor, and that’s largely down to how game and hilarious (and drunk) you’ve been throughout. Honestly, I couldn’t have done this without you. I have no idea what I’ll liveblog next (please god don’t let it be Stars in their Eyes), but I hope you can join me then too. Now that we’re all such good friends,

Top 100 Greatest Gay Movies

  • The Backlot
Brace yourselves. This list of the Top 100 Greatest Gay Movies is probably going to generate some howls of protest thanks to a rather major upset in the rankings. Frankly, one that surprised the hell out of us here at AfterElton.

But before we get to that, an introduction. A few weeks ago we asked AfterElton readers to submit up to ten of their favorite films by write-in vote. We conducted a similar poll several years ago, but a lot has happened culturally since then, and a number of worthy movies of gay interest have been released. We wanted to see how your list of favorites had changed.

We also wanted to expand our list to 100 from the top 50 we had done previously. We figured there were finally enough quality gay films to justify the expansion. And we wanted to break out gay documentaries onto their own list (You'll find the

American Idol Recap: Some Kind of Wonder-Ful

American Idol Recap: Some Kind of Wonder-Ful
You can’t always get what you want, as Mick Jagger (and later, Crystal Bowersox) once sang, and that adage has certainly been applicable to most of American Idol‘s first 399 episodes.

On Wednesday, however, in celebration of the 400th installment of the reality-competition granddaddy, Uncle Nigel took a page from Burger King’s ad department and produced an episode that let the Idoloonie Nation have it their way: A Top 13 packed almost entirely with solid (and varied) vocalists. Specific, constructive critiques from the judges. A mentor with serious chops, good humor, and spot-on advice. A clear, unmuddied sound mix.

Whitney Houston Knows Hot To Get To Number One: Wake-Up Video

When Lady Gaga took the stage at the Staples Center in Los Angeles to receive the award for Best Pop Vocal Album at Sunday night's (February 13) Grammy Awards, she gave a shout-out to a very special diva who has been relatively under the radar as of late. While accepting her award (one of three she took home on Sunday night), Gaga noted that she was picturing Whitney Houston singing "Born This Way" when she wrote it. "I need to say thank you tonight to Whitney Houston," Gaga said. "I wanted to thank Whitney because when I wrote 'Born This Way,' I imagined she was singing it because I wasn't secure enough in myself to imagine I was a superstar. So Whitney, I imagined you were singing 'Born This Way' when I wrote it."

"Born This Way" will likely be at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 this week, but

Where Are They Now? Checking in with 12 Actors that Once Represented Us on Television

Lets face it, as television viewers we grow attached to the gay characters that resonate with us on the small screen, and with the actors that bring life to these roles. We also find ourselves growing fond of out-and-proud actors that have opted to play it straight thats why its called acting, people and vice versa.

So when their shows are cancelled or taken off the air before they wear out their welcome (whatever, I still miss Sex and the City on Sunday nights, ok?), it can be a little bit difficult to see them slide into other TV roles easier than Lindsay Lohan checking into another rehab (Im rootin for you, girl).

Alas, sometimes that isnt always the case, which might have you asking yourself, Where are they now? In some cases for these actors, it could be taken as a query of, Where did they disappear to?

But for curiosity's (and manner's) sake,
