2018 BAFTA Awards: Battle for Rising Star between Timothee Chalamet and Daniel Kaluuya
At Sunday’s BAFTA Awards, two of the Best Actor nominees — Timothee Chalamet (“Call Me By Your Name”) and Daniel Kaluuya (“Get Out) — are also pitted against each other for the Rising Star prize. While the winner of the former will be decided by the members of the academy, the latter is voted on by the public.

Chalmet is American and Kaluuya is British as are the other three nominees (Josh O’Connor, Florence Pugh and Tessa Thompson). Only two of the 12 winners of this award to date have been American: Shia Labeouf (2008) and Kristen Stewart (2010).

Get ready for another dinosaur-filled summer of mayhem. Following the blockbuster behemoth Jurassic World, Colin Trevorrow handed over the directing reigns to J.A. This Is Us” breakout Chrissy Metz has signed on to star in TV vet Roxann Dawson’s feature directorial debut. Entertainment Weekly reports that the two are teaming up for Fox 2000’s “The Impossible,” an adaptation of Joyce Smith’s 2017 non-fiction book “The Impossible: The Miraculous Story of a Mother’s Faith and Her Child’s Resurrection.”

Slated to begin production in March, the faith-based story sees Metz playing Joyce, a woman whose teen son nearly died after falling through ice on a frozen lake in Missouri. He was lifeless in a hospital for an hour before his heart resumed beating.

Casting

This Is Us” star Chrissy Metz will portray the lead in Fox 2000’s faith-based movie “The Impossible,” set up with “Miracles From Heaven” producer DeVon Franklin.

Roxann Dawson is directing from a script by Grant Nieporte, based on Joyce Smith’s book “The Impossible: The Miraculous Story of a Mother’s Faith and Her Child’s Resurrection.” Smith wrote the book about her 14-year-old son coming back to life through her prayer and faith — even though his heart had stopped after he fell through a frozen lake in Missouri.

Marisa Paiva will oversee production for the studio. Filming is expected to begin in March in Winnipeg.
