Spider-Man Spin-Off Silver Sable and Black Cat Is Happening
Last week, Sony Pictures handed out a 2018 release date for their new Venom spin-off that will expand the studio's Spider-Man universe, although it will not be connected to Spider-Man: Homecoming. Today we have word that the studio is expanding this universe even further, developing a new spin-off that will feature the popular female characters Silver Sable and the Black Cat. The studio has brought on screenwriter Christopher Yost to write the script, building on a previous script that was originally worked on by Westworld co-creator Lisa Joy.

The Hollywood Reporter doesn't reveal any specific story details, but it does indicate that the studio wants to find a director soon, eyeing a fall production start date. Matt Tolmach and Amy Pascal are producing the project, which was previously known as the "secret female spinoff project." While Sony Pictures has a shared rights deal with Marvel Studios for the main Spider-Man character,

'He-Man' Movie Recruits Marvel Writer
Sony Pictures has brought on Thor: Ragnarok screenwriter Christopher Yost to take a crack at the Masters of the Universe script, according to a new report at Variety. The project has been in development for years, but fans hoped that it may finally get off the ground earlier this year, when the studio released a new Masters of the Universe logo, and it was revealed that Jeff Wadlow's (Kick-Ass 2) script was complete. It seems the studio is going back to the drawing board with yet another writing coming on board.

The franchise is set on the planet Eternia, following a young man named Adam who has the power to turn himself into a mighty warrior named He-Man. Adam becomes the planet's last hope to defeat the evil Skeletor, who has devastated the entire planet on his quest to conquer castle Greyskull. It isn't known how much the plot

First look at Star Wars Rebels' teenage hero Ezra Bridger

We got our first look at Star Wars Rebels' "cowboy Jedi" Kanan (Freddie Prinze Jr.) earlier this week, and now Lucasfilm Animation has unveiled another new character in 14-year-old con artist turned hero Ezra Bridger, who'll be voiced  by Taylor Gray (Bucket & Skinner's Epic Adventures)...

To survive, instinctively every now and then when he's in a jam he uses the Force," exec producer Dave Filoni tells TV Guide. "He doesn't call it that. He doesn't know that's what he's doing. He thinks he's got some abilities that are a little strange every now and then, but they help him out. It's instinctive, it's reactionary... With Ezra we see how a kid is reacting to this imperial rule. That becomes a big question: What is imperial rule like? We've seen it in the movies with a big rebellion that ends up blowing up the Death Star, but do we just

"He's been forced to shove a massive part of his life under the bed, so to speak," says Prinze, discussing his character's position after the events of Order 66 in Revenge of the Sith. "Is he living a lie? At a certain point, the lie kind of becomes the reality. And to suddenly be forced back into your Jedi ways, it'd be a bit of a challenge for him. And pretty awesome, too, when you can see what a Jedi can actually do. He definitely has seen more than what a young man should see. And what he had to see was pretty much

Ant-Man: Edgar Wright Teases 1960s Hank Pym Costume

  • MovieWeb
Ant-Man: Edgar Wright Teases 1960s Hank Pym Costume
Will Ant-Man begin in the early 1960s as previously reported? Director Edgar Wright has teased two miniatures of actor Michael Douglas that suggest his character will be wearing the original costume that first appeared in the Marvel Comic Books starting way back in 1962 with Tales to Astonish #27. It makes sense that we'd be introduced to the now much older Hank Pym in his prime, with Paul Rudd picking up the mantle as Scott Lang in the present day.

Here are the miniatures as posted on Edgar Wright's official blog website.

The only thing missing from these miniature models, presumed to be used for shot framing, is the helmet. Perhaps the filmmaker is saving that design for a later date. While no story details have been confirmed, a report from earlier this month claims Ant-Man will introduce Hank Pym working as a spy fighting communism some fifty years in the past.

"His creative instincts have helped shape Thor and Thor: The Dark World at every level of the filmmaking process. The entire team at Marvel is very happy to continue collaborating with Craig as he continues as a screenwriter working with Christopher on the forthcoming chapter of Thor’s adventure."

The duo certainly have plenty of Marvel experience between them, including the animated offerings X-Men: Evolution, Fantastic Four: World's Greatest Heroes, Ultimate Avengers, Ultimate Avengers 2, The Invincible Iron Man,

Ant-Man: Michael Douglas Reveals Why He Signed On

Ant-Man: Michael Douglas Reveals Why He Signed On
Yesterday, Marvel made the surprise announcement that Michael Douglas is playing Hank Pym in Ant-Man, while later confirming that Paul Rudd is playing Scott Lang. In the Marvel comics, Hank Pym creates the original Ant-Man technology, which allows him to shrink to the size of an ant while retaining all of his human strength. Scott Lang came along later as the new Ant-Man in the comics, having stolen Pym's life work.

Just hours after the announcement, Michael Douglas told Reuters that he has always wanted to do a Marvel movie.

"I've been dying to do a Marvel picture for so long. The script is really fun, the director is really good. Dylan (the actor's 13-year-old son) will love it. He'll have a picture he can see."

The announcement came less than 24 hours after he won a Golden Globe award for playing Liberace in the HBO TV movie Behind the Candelabra.
