Hostiles Trailer Takes Christian Bale Through the Brave Frontier
Entertainment Studios Motion Pictures has released the first trailer for Hostiles, which reunites director Scott Cooper and Christian Bale after their 2013 drama Out of the Furnace. The movie is slated to hit theaters in late December, which could make this an early favorite for the 2018 Oscars, although we still have quite some time before the awards season picture starts fully coming together. Still, this drama has been tearing through the prestige festival circuit, debuting at Telluride in September before appearing at the Toronto International Film Festival, Rome Film Fest and more, as it gets ready to debut at AFI Fest in Los Angeles next week.

Set in 1892, Hostiles tells the story of a legendary Army Captain (Christian Bale), who after stern resistance, reluctantly agrees to escort a dying Cheyenne war chief (Wes Studi) and his family back to tribal lands. Making the harrowing and perilous journey from Fort Berringer, an

Netflix's What Happened to Monday Changed 1 Giant Detail So Noomi Rapace Could Star

  • BuzzSugar
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday - days of the week, sure, but also cinema's latest female ass-kickers du jour in What Happened to Monday, Netflix's brutal, bloody sci-fi romp starring Noomi Rapace. The Swedish actress stars in the streaming network's dystopian action flick, out Aug. 18, as identical septuplets named after each day of the week. All seven sisters have grown up living in hiding thanks to the government's law restricting families to one child only due to overpopulation, so their grandfather (Willem Dafoe) allows them out of the house only on the day corresponding with their name. They're able to maintain one public identity through adulthood, until a government agency led by the steely Glenn Close picks up on the scam. Monday doesn't return home after her day out, and soon enough her sisters savagely work their way through a long line of agents (and end up

Is Tom Hardy Being Considered For The Role Of Jafar In Disney's Aladdin Remake?

  • LRM Online
Following Cinderella, The Jungle Book, and Beauty and the Beast, Disney has live-action remakes of its animated classics planned out farther than their Star Wars and the Marvel Cinematic Universe films. We're talking remakes for decades! The Little Mermaid, Dumbo, The Lion King, and Mulan are all in the works, and that's just the tip of the iceberg! Perhaps the most interesting project in the bunch is Aladdin, with Guy Ritchie set to direct.

Ritchie is known for his less than family-friendly fare such as Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels, Snatch, and RocknRolla, though he has recently been specializing in PG-13 potential-franchise films, including both Sherlock Holmes and Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows, The Man From U.N.C.L.E., and one of this summer's many flops/critical disappointments, King Arthur: Legend of the Sword.

Take this news with a grain of salt, as you should all news that comes from "a source" that isn't identified,

King Arthur: Legend of the Sword movie review: well I didn’t vote for him

MaryAnn’s quick take… Derivative, rote, devoid of heart and hope. Guy Ritchie has found no reason to retell Arthur’s story, or to render a mythic hero as a self-serving thug. I’m “biast” (pro): big fantasy fan

I’m “biast” (con): nothing

what is this about? see my critic’s minifesto)

There are no heroes anymore. There are self-centered bastards who accidentally stumble into heroics. There are sociopaths who abuse women and are lauded for it. There are criminals who receive official sanction for their antisocial behavior. And we’re meant to cheer for them all. But true heroes in the more traditional meaning of the word? Difficult to find onscreen at the moment.

There are no heroes anymore, just criminals and sociopaths we’re meant to cheer.

And now Guy Ritchie has engaged in an egregious de-heroing of cinema with his King Arthur: Legend of the Sword.

Movie Review: King Arthur: Legend Of The Sword is a dull blockbuster that sends up dull blockbusters

  • The AV Club
The legendarium of King Arthur and the Knights Of The Round Table is rich in symbolism, mysticism, and visions, and so any attempt to narrowly rewrite it for modern tastes ends up coming across as a failure of imagination. Antoine Fuqua’s King Arthur was the last costly wannabe blockbuster to ask what Arthurian legend would be like if it were boring, and before that, there was Jerry Zucker’s First Knight. Maybe it’s a once-in-a-decade phenomenon, with the gritty (but not too gritty) 2010s iteration being King Arthur: Legend Of The Sword, directed and co-written by Guy Ritchie, the former Brit-crime hotshot who’s since gone on to a career of giving the Guy Ritchie treatment to uninspiring journeyman material (this film, The Man From U.N.C.L.E., Sherlock Holmes, Sherlock Holmes: A Game Of Shadows) with varying degrees of success. The best and worst thing ...

Writers' Room Formed for Robert Downey Jr.'s 'Sherlock Holmes 3'

  • Movies.com
Fresh off his success in Iron Man, which helped to revitalize his career, Robert Downey Jr. teamed with Jude Law and director Guy Ritchie to make Sherlock Holmes. The movie kept the period setting and basic outlines of the detective and Dr. Watson, created by Arthur Conan Doyle, but added modern action twists and cheeky humor. Earning more than $524 million at the box office worldwide, the movie was followed by a sequel two years later. Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows proved even more popular, grossing more than $545 million in earnings. Even before the sequel opened, writer Drew Pearce (Iron Man 3) was hired to work on the third installment, but the project stalled out. Three years later, Downey said: "We want it to be the best of the series, so that's a pretty...

Sherlock Holmes 3 Moves Forward with 5 Person Writers' Room

  • MovieWeb
Robert Downey Jr. may be busy getting ready to do battle with Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War, but he is still committed to returning as Sherlock Holmes for a third go around. Sherlock Holmes 3 just took a massive step forward, because Warner Bros. and Robert Downey Jr.'s production company have just hired a writers' room to work on the script. The studio is clearly taking this very seriously, because they have brought in some big name writers to work on this anticipated sequel.

According to a report from Variety, Warner Bros. and Team Downey decided that bringing on just a writer or two for Sherlcok Holmes 3 wasn't good enough, so they hired five. The new writer's room for the movie will include Guardians of the Galaxy writer Nicole Perlman, Baywatch writer Justin Malen, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story writer Gary Whitta, Tomb Raider writer Geneva Dworet-Robertson and Snowden writer Kieran Fitzgerald.

Rupture starring Noomi Rapace unleashes new trailer

  • JoBlo
I like Noomi Rapace, though I'm not sure that she's ever had a real breakout role in the Us. Sherlock Holmes: A Game Of Shadows was fun, but disposable, and Prometheus was just (in my opinion) the worst thing to happen to the Alien franchise - and yes, I'm including Alien Vs Predator: Requiem and the Alien: Colonial Marines game in that list. However, regardless of your opinion on those... Read More...

Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly Reunite for Holmes and Watson
There are some great comedic duos in the modern age of cinema, but there are few that rival the love and success that Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly have managed to obtain. The pair have been wanting to team up again for quite some time, and they finally are. It isn't for a Step Brothers sequel though, as one might expect. Ferrell and Reilly will be taking on the classic duo of Sherlock Holmes and John Watson with the new movie Holmes & Watson.

The news comes courtesy of Deadline and reveals that the new movie is happening over at Sony Pictures. Holmes & Watson is said to be taking on the characters made famous by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, but will be putting a PG-13 comedic spin on it. Ferrell will be re-teaming with another recent collaborator, as the report also notes that Etan Cohen will be directing the movie,
