Jennifer Garner's 'Ugly Mother' Transformation for 'The Tribes of Palos Verdes' -- See the Poster (Exclusive)
The moms that Jennifer Garner plays onscreen -- in movies like Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day and Miracles From Heaven -- usually feel cut from the same cloth. They’re doting, loving mothers with a smile on their face and a twinkle in their eye -- the type of mom you imagine Garner is in real life, too. In The Tribes of Palos Verdes, however, she plays Sandy Mason, a mother of two teenagers whose life spirals out of control after her husband leaves her for another woman. And in this poster for the film, debuting on Et, Sandy hovers over her carefree daughter (played by It Follows actress Maika Monroe).

Et spoke with filmmakers and brothers Brendan and Emmett Malloy about what made them to adapt Joy Nicholson’s novel of the same name for the screen, why working on the movie felt like a therapy session, and which scene

The show has secured a ten-episode order and will premiere in the summer as the first ever hourlong series from TV Land.

The Heathers TV show is described as “a pitch-black comedy anthology set in the present day, featuring a group of all-new Heathers, who have the same character names from the original film, but this time, the outcasts are the ones

Heathers Reboot at TV Land: Meet the New Jd and Veronica

How very… surreal.

TV Land’s in-the-works Heathers reboot has found its new Veronica and Jd, the iconic characters played in the 1989 film by Winona Ryder and Christian Slater.

Under the Dome actress Grace Cox (see photo, right) will portray Veronica, while newcomer James Scully will inherit the role of Jd, TVLine has learned.

Last month, TV Land formally greenlit a pilot for a half-hour, single camera series based on the 1988 cult classic. The cabler said it will “reimagine” Heathers as a present-day anthology series, with each season focusing on a different heroine and a new set of mean girls.

Heathers TV pilot gets the greenlight from TV Land

TV Land has ordered a pilot for a TV adaptation of the cult 1988 dark comedy Heathers, which will be directed by Leslye Headland (Sleeping With Other People) from a script by Jason Micallef (Butter). Deadline reports that the project will reimagine the movie as an anthology, and “will be set in the present day, as our heroine deals with a very different but equally vicious group of Heathers.”

Heathers starred Winona Ryder as Veronica Sawyer, a popular high school teenager who teams up with a rebellious outsider played by Christian Slater in order to help her get out of a snobby clique threatening to destroy her reputation. However, she soon discovers that he’s actually a sociopath who is intentionally killing students he doesn’t like. Critically acclaimed, the film flopped at the box office, but quickly became a cult classic on VHS.

TV Land Orders Pilot Episode of Series Based on Heathers

The pilot episode of Heathers will follow a clique of similarly named high school students who sit atop the student body food chain. Filming on the dark comedy pilot is slated to start this fall with a single-camera shooting style.

Directed by Michael Lehmann from a screenplay by Daniel Waters, the original Heathers film starred Winona Ryder, Christian Slater, and Shannen Doherty.

Heathers Is Getting The Anthology TV Series Treatment

Heathers is getting a reboot. Thankfully, no-one involved in this new venture thinks remaking the movie is a good idea. Michael Lehmann’s black comedy remains one the best eighties teen flicks ever made. It’s cutting, clever and has perhaps the highest density of quotable one-liners per minute. So, what’s happening with this reboot then?

Viacom-owned cable network TV Land has ordered a pilot script for a TV anthology series loosely inspired by the 1989 feature. In case you’ve not seen it, the original film follows Winona Ryder’s character Veronica as she and Christian Slater’s J.D. navigate the struggles of high school while dealing with a trio of uber-popular girls named Heather. All three rule over the school hierarchy, and so Veronica and Jd plot to off them and pass it off as suicide.

The series plans to put a drastic spin on that set-up.

Heathers TV Series in Early Stages of Development

It’s hard to look at high school cliques the same way after seeing Heathers. The film has found an ever-growing following since its Us release in 1989, and now TV Land is in the early stages of developing an anthology series based on the cult classic:

Press Release: “New York, NY – March 16, 2016 – Dating a murderous psychopath and figuring out what to wear to your best friend’s suicide are typical teen problems for Veronica Sawyer. With a pilot script order for “Heathers,” TV Land is digging into the pitch-black comedy for their first anthology series, based on the cult classic film. Set in the present day, our heroine will be dealing with a very different but equally vicious group of Heathers. The script is written by Jason Micallef (“Butter”), and Tom Rosenberg and Gary Lucchesi will executive produce for Lakeshore Entertainment.

Jennifer Garner Braves a Game of “Truth or Door” on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon”

Her new movie “Miracles From Heaven” is now in theaters, and Jennifer Garner dropped by “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” to take care of some promotional duties last night (March 16).

Joined by fellow movie star Cuba Gooding Jr., the “Butter” babe looked to be in good spirits as she listened to Fallon explain the rules- "You choose either truth or door. If you choose truth you have to honestly answer one of the personal questions ... If you choose door, one of these dare doors will open and you must accept whatever dare is behind it."

Unwilling to answer a “Truth” question, the “Jerry Maguire” hunk wound up dressed like a cowboy, while Garner was made to carry three frozen water balloons for the duration of the game. Check the clip!

Heathers Series Headed To TV Land… Probably

Once there’s a musical, pretty much everything is fair game, and with that in mind, TV Land has started the ball rolling on a Heathers anthology series.

It’s tricky to imagine what the series might look like, but it apparently it focuses on Veronica coming out the other side of her time with the first Heathers to find herself in the present day with a new group of Heathers. You have to imagine that Veronica has grown into a rather interesting person, one way or another, after the experiences that have now become pop culture canon.

Skeptics might not look too highly on the idea of taking this crazy black comedy for a spin, but the script is coming from Jason Micallef, who wrote the fantastic film Butter.

While the original helped launch the careers of those involved, a new version may come down to finding just the
