Tony Sokol Sep 8, 2017

The new Dementia 13 trailer shows that some children won’t stay submerged.

Chiller Films has dropped the trailer for the upcoming retelling of Francis Ford Coppola’s atmospheric 1963 debut film Dementia 13, which was produced by independent movie maestro Roger Corman.

“A vengeful ghost, a mysterious killer, and a family where everyone has a secret converge in one night of terror,” the official synopsis promises.

The reimaging was directed by Richard LeMay (Blood Bound, Naked As We Come). Dementia 13 was written by Dan DeFilippo, who wrote the screenplays for The Invaders and Chilling Visions: 5 States of Fear) and Justin Smith (SiREN, The Boy).

The original movie told the tale of Luana Anders a scheming young woman who murders her husband and infiltrates his disturbing family’s stately, out-of-the-way mansion on a lake in Ireland. Her plans are interrupted by an axe-wielding lunatic who stalks and hacks up the family.

After CBS announced that Stephen Colbert would take over as The Late Show host, the fun was watching the meltdowns on the right wing blogosphere. Rush Lumbaugh responded that CBS “declared war on the heartland of America” while Breitbart editor Ben Shapiro called Colbert’s faux pundit character “political blackface“.

Updated: A+ E To Shutter Bio Network, Replace It With Lifestyle-Focused Fyi
A+E Networks is closing the book on its long-running Bio network and replacing it this summer with Fyi, a lifestyle-focused cabler the company said was meant to inspire younger viewers, in its first large-scale maneuver since Nancy Dubuc took over as chief executive of the company in June.

“The transition to Fyi is the next phase in our strategy to bolster the A+E Networks portfolio by evolving and maturing our brands to allow for future growth in the rapidly changing media landscape,” said Dubuc in a prepared statement. “Fyi will be an upscale network with a younger and more modern sensibility than what we’ve seen on traditional lifestyle networks, in an effort to appeal to an audience that has been underserved on linear but thrives online.”

By many accounts, Bio, which got its start as a home for the popular “Biography” series that ran on A&E,

TV on Tap: TV Marathons Jump the Shark and Does “Bunheads” Still have a Chance?

A German librarian has written a book on how The Simpsons has changed the way gay people are perceived. I’m always mixed about The Simpsons and its heavy usage of stereotypes, but it hasn’t shied away from repeatedly showing gay people as just part of Springfield’s landscape.

A steel mill has to have the most uncomfortably warm dance floor.

On the other hand, GLAAD is angry with Showtime’s Ray Donovan for its pilot where the Hollywood fixer worked for a star spotted picking up a transgender woman. Despite doing great work with gay, lesbian and bisexual characters, Donovan is part of what GLAAD identifies as part of a bad trend of depicting transgender people as subjects of mockery and disgust. I’m surprised to see House of Lies in the condemnations, my initial impression was that it had a potentially strong transgender storyline with the son.

Good morning!

The Fenway Institute found that "lesbians and bisexual women are as likely as heterosexual women to develop cervical cancer, but are much less likely to be regularly screened for it, putting them at greater risk of the potentially deadly disease." Get thee to a gyno!

If you're hemming and hawing over joining lesbian dating site, Buzzfeed gives you reasons to just do it.

Australian teen actress Brenna Harding won Most Popular New Female Talent award at the Logies for her role in Puberty Blues, and she thanked her two moms from the stage.

I especially have to thank two women — my beautiful mothers, Vicki and Jackie, who have been so incredibly supportive, and so wonderful, not just in the last three months of shooting, but in all of my 16 years. Thanks so much, mums.

Two stage moms are better than one.

TV on Tap: TNT Recruits Eion Bailey to "Trooper" Duty, NBC Puts "Chicago Fire" on Full Time Duty and C. Thomas Howell is a "Southland" Regular

PBS mixes food, science and history on Mind of a Chef.

Covert Affairs hunk Eion Bailey has joined the TNT pilot Trooper. He'll play the patrol partner of Mira Sorvino's state trooper character, who we hope also has an allergy to wearing shirts.

Get ready for more Dewey in the next season of Southland, C. Thomas Howell is now a series regular. I hope that means they have some solid plans for the character who, so far, has worked best in limited quantities.

The Big Bang Theory cast Bernadette's mother with Meagen Fay, who has a long resume including Malcolm in the Middle, The Bernie Mac Show and one of my obsessions, the nuclear apocalypse comedy Whoops!.

ABC has found a pal for Rebel Wilson in the comedy pilot Super Fun Night, which follows a group of nerdy friends who promise to make every Friday a "Super Fun Night.

Lets hope Malibu Country turns out to be a show worthy of Lily Tomlin.

Kal Penn will host a competition series on Discovery, The Big Brain Theory, that will focus on engineering challenges. I have to admit, I'm intrigued by the concept.

A day after it made the cancellation of Common Law official, USA announced that it cancelled Fairly Legal. Since the gay character stopped appearing by the second season, I gave up trying to endure it.

Revolution and Supernatural creator Eric Kripke says that the reason why the power went out is at least somewhat scientifically possible and repeated that we won't have to wait very long to get some answers.

HBO has ordered eight episodes of Hello Ladies, the comedy from Ricky Gervais' frequent collaborator Stephen Merchant.

Here's what you'll be doing on election night.
