Disney's Merlin Saga Targets Director Ridley Scott

According to reports, Disney is in negotiation with Ridley Scott to helm The Merlin Saga along with his production company, Scott Free. It is believed that the Merlin Saga will be Scott's next project, but nothing has been officially confirmed by Disney or Ridley Scott. All the Money in the World as well as Alien: Covenant were both directed by Scott in 2017 and All the Money in the World is seeing quite a bit of acclaim, even after removing Kevin Spacey from the project and replacing him with Christopher Plummer at the absolute last minute.

Variety reports that Ridley Scott and Disney are in negotiations for the director to helm the Merlin Saga, which Academy Award winning screenwriter Philippa Boyens wrote the script for, based off of T.A. Barron's books. Boyens is best known for working with Peter Jackson and Fran Walsh on all six Middle-earth films as well

Ridley Scott is in Talks To Direct Disney’s The Merlin Saga

It looks like Ridley Scott may have found his next film project. According to Variety, he is in talks to direct The Merlin Saga for Disney.

I heard from one of my sources awhile back that Ridley Scott was in talks for a Disney film but I didn’t know it would be this. I thought it would be for the live-action adaptation of The Sword and the Stone, but I guess this is pretty close! The report did confirm he was in talks for Sword in the Stone as well, which is still in development.

The movie is being written by Philippa Boyens (The Lord of the Rings) and it will be based on the T.A. Barron book series. The story follows the “origin story of a young Merlin who would go on to become the mentor of the classic literary character King Arthur.”

Ridley Scott in Talks to Direct ‘Merlin Saga’ Adaptation at Disney (Exclusive)
Ridley Scott might have found his next directing project: “The Merlin Saga” for Disney.

Scott’s production company Scott Free is also in negotiations to produce along with Gil Netter. Philippa Boyens is the writer.

Disney and Scott’s reps could not be reached for comment. While a deal isn’t closed yet, sources close to the situation believe this will be Scott’s next movie.

Based on the T.A. Barron books, the series followed the origin story of a young Merlin who would go on to become the mentor of the classic literary character King Arthur.

“Merlin Saga” is one of two films Disney is currently developing based on the Merlin character. The studio is also working on a live-action “Sword in the Stone,” on which Scott also met with execs.

While several films have focused on the King Arthur legend, the only high-profile story to focus specifically on the story of Merlin was the [link

Kingsman 2 Clip Intros Channing Tatum's Agent Tequila
With the September 22 release date just five days away, 20th Century Fox released a new clip for Kingsman: The Golden Circle. This scene shows the first interaction between Agent Tequila (Channing Tatum) and the Kingsmen agents Eggsy (Taron Egerton) and Merlin (Mark Strong). Tequila catches both Eggsy and Merlin in the act, as they try to break open a large barrel of whiskey at the Statesmen distillery. This follows an earlier preview where Merlin and Eggsy broke away from their tour of the distillery to try and find the secret entrance to the Statesman headquarters, and in this clip, instead of the entrance, they find Agent Tequila.

This clip debuted on the 20th Century Fox YouTube, which opens with Merlin trying to take an axe to a massive barrel of Statesman whiskey, but it doesn't budge. Behind them, Agent Tequila comes trolling up, stating that his mama always told him

Hellboy Reboot Gets Hemlock Grove Star Penelope Mitchell

Hellboy Reboot Gets Hemlock Grove Star Penelope Mitchell
Just days after actor Ed Skrein exited Lionsgate's Hellboy reboot, due to concerns over "whitewashing," the project has added yet another member to its cast. Penelope Mitchell (Hemlock Grove) has just signed on to play a witch named Ganeida. It remains unclear if the studio is actively seeking actors to replace Ed Skrein, who backed out of the Major Ben Daimio role upon learning that the original character in the comics is a Japanese-American man.

Deadline reports that Ganeida is an elder witch who decides that the reign of terror caused by Nimue the Blood Queen (Milla Jovovich) has gone on long enough and tries to stop her. It's unclear if Ganeida ultimately joins forces with Hellboy (David Harbour) and his team of paranormal investigators to take down this medieval sorceress, but it seems likely. The Ganeida character had a similar arc in the 2011 comic Hellboy: The Fury, so

Transformers: The Last Knight passes $600 million at the global box office

It may not have enjoyed the same kind of success as the previous instalments in the series, but Paramount Pictures and Michael Bay’s Transformers: The Last Knight has now reached the $600 million milestone at the global box office.

The Last Knight has grossed $601.1 million around the world, with $130.1 million domestically (a franchise low) and $471 million from international markets. The original Transformers grossed $709.7 million back in 2007, followed by Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen with $836.3 million in 2009, Transformers: Age of Extinction with $1.104 billion in 2014, and 2011’s Transformers: Dark of the Moon setting a franchise high of $1.124 million in 2011.

Next up from the series is Transformers Universe: Bumblebee, which is set for release on December 21st 2018.

No, You're Not Losing It: Dickon Tarly Definitely Has a New Face on Game of Thrones

When we first meet Dickon Tarly, Samwell's pompous brother on Game of Thrones, he's at a very awkward Tarly family dinner in season six. He openly mocks his brother about his claims of killing a White Walker and is generally a big assh*le (no wonder Sam has all those self-esteem issues). He's played by Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince actor Freddie Stroma in the episode (pictured above), who confirmed not long after it aired that he would not be returning to the series in season seven due to scheduling conflicts with his now-canceled show, Time After Time. Although we were sad to see Stroma go, the actor was soon recast with a (very hot) replacement. Meet the new Dickon Tarly: Tom Hopper. Hopper, who's appeared in Black Sails and Merlin, made his debut in season seven's second episode during a tense conversation with Jaime Lannister (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) in King's Landing.

20th Century Fox Brings New Kingsman: The Golden Circle Footage To Sdcc

San Diego Comic-Con is off to a spectacular start, as 20th Century Fox opened its panel with an exclusive clip from Kingsman: The Golden Circle. Moderator Jonathan Ross welcomed cast members Taron Egerton, Channing Tatum, Colin Firth, Jeff Bridges, Pedro Pascal and Halle Berry, along with screenwriter Jane Goldman and original Kingsman artist Dave Gibbons.

Unfortunately, director Matthew Vaughn wasn’t present, since he’s still in the UK working on the final cut of the movie, but a video message from him was screened and the sequel’s opening scene was played for the audience. In it, Taron Egerton’s Eggsy is accosted by a character from the first film and thrust into an epic car chase through the streets of London. With fighting and knife stunts included, the action set-piece reaches its explosive climax in Hyde Park, whereupon Eggsy – under guidance from Merlin – drives his damaged vehicle into

Transformers: The Last Knight opens to $265 million worldwide, but a franchise low in the U.S.

It looks like audiences – or Western ones, at least – may finally be tiring of the Transformers franchise, with the latest instalment Transformers: The Last Knight debuting to a series low at the U.S. box office, grossing a $69.1 million five-day opening, and just $45.3 million across the Friday to Sunday period.

For comparison, the previous franchise low was the first Transformers, which opened with $70.5 million back in 2007, while the fourth entry Transformers: Age of Extinction began its run in 2014 with $100.0 million.

It’s not all bad news for The Last Knight though, as the film did pull in a further $196.2 million from international markets, including a hefty $123.4 million from China. The international opening is actually up on Age of Extinction, which kicked off with $189.1 million on its way to $858.6 million internationally and a $1.104 billion total worldwide.

Mark Wahlberg doesn’t think Michael Bay will quit Transformers franchise, Transformers 6 not yet plotted out

Although Michael Bay has said on several occasions that Transformers: The Last Knight will mark his final outing in the Transformers franchise, this certainly isn’t the first time that Bay has suggested he was calling time on the series, and star Mark Wahlberg isn’t convinced that he won’t be back for the next instalment.

“It’s one of those things where Michael has built this entire universe right, and he will decide what he wants to do and how he wants to do it,” Wahlberg tells Comic Book. “Right now he says he doesn’t want to do another film and he says that after every film because they are so difficult to make and he pretty much has to do it single-handedly, even with all the help that he has because all of the movie is in his mind. So he’ll decide that and I
