Woody Harrelson in talks for Venom, set photos see Tom Hardy performing motorcycle stunt

It looks like Woody Harrelson is set to follow up his role in the galaxy far, far away in Solo: A Star Wars Story by joining the Marvel universe – well, the Sony one, at least – with Variety reporting that the actor is in talks to join the Venom solo movie.

Although details are scarce, it’s said that Harrelson is up for the role of a henchman, presumably to Riz Ahmed’s (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story) villain, rumoured to be that of Carnage. Given that Venom is taking inspiration from the Lethal Protector story arc, it’s possible that we could see Harrelson with his own symbiote.

Woody Harrelson in Discussions to Join the Cast of New Venom Movie

Tom Hardy could have some new company in the upcoming Venom movie, as it's being reported that Woody Harrelson is in discussions to join the cast of Sony's movie about one of Spider-Man's most popular villains (or antihero, depending on how you view the character).

Word on Harrelson's potential involvement with Venom comes from Variety, who report that Harrelson would play a "henchman of sorts," although Sony has yet to officially comment on the casting.

Harrelson would join a cast that includes Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock, a man who becomes linked with an alien Symbiote that turns him into Venom, one of the ultimate villains in the Spider-Man universe. Although Venom and the Symbiote have a big influence on Spider-Man in the Marvel comic books, this film would take place outside of Marvel's Cinematic Universe, which includes the most recent appearance by the web-slinger in this year's Spider-Man: Homecoming.

Venom Eyes Woody Harrelson for Henchman Role

Although Sony Pictures' Venom already in production, with filming starting in late October, it's never too late to add a new cast member. A new report surfaced today which revealed that Woody Harrelson is in talks to sign on, reportedly to play "a henchman of sorts," although there is no indication that this character has roots in the Marvel Comics, and it remains unclear when we'll find out more about this character. It also remains unclear how many more roles need to be filled out as production keeps rolling.

This report comes just a few days after Tom Hardy confirmed Venom is based on Lethal Protector comics, with the actor adding that this character will be very important for the Marvel Universe, during an appearance at Brazil's Comic-Con Experience last weekend. The actor wouldn't clarify what he meant by "Marvel Universe," if he meant the Spider-Man universe Sony is creating,

The gig would reunite Harrelson with his Zombieland director Ruben Fleischer, who's helming the project based on a script by Scott Rosenberg (Jumanji) and Jeff Pinkner (The Dark …

Tom Hardy confirms Lethal Protector as Venom’s plot

During a video message played out to the crowds at the Brazil Comic-Con, Tom Hardy revealed that the plot for the in-production Venom movie will be the Lethal Protector series of comics.

Also confirmed by the Sony panel announcement was that the film will be set in San Francisco, and that it will be “important to the Marvel universe as a whole”.

Hardy will play Eddie Brock, the first character to become the Symbiote alien villain from the Spider-Man comics. Spider-Man himself is not expected appear, with Marvel StudiosKevin Feige stating that it will not be connected to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Published in 1993, the Lethal Protector comic arc sees Venom making an agreement with Spider-Man that the two foes will leave each other alone on the condition that Venom gives up the life of crime. Venom then moves to San Francisco, only for the father of one of

Venom promotional material spotted at Brazil’s Comic-Con Experience

While we’ve seen a few behind-the-scenes images and spy video from the set of Venom, Sony is yet to offer up anything in the way of official promotional material for next year’s Tom Hardy-led Spider-Man spinoff. However, attending Ccxp in Sao Paulo, Brazil, Collider spotted a couple of pieces of promotional artwork for the movie on display on the convention floor; check them out here…

While they aren’t very revealing, the first image does seem to confirm that we’ll be getting the classic version of Venom, debunking the recent speculation that Hardy’s costume will be based upon the Agent Venom suit.

Venom is set for release on October 5th 2018, and sees Ruben Fleischer (Zombieland) directing a cast that includes Tom Hardy, Riz Ahmed, Michelle Williams, Jenny Slate, Reid Scott and Scott Haze.

First Venom Movie Poster Revealed

The first poster for Venom has been revealed. The Comic Con Experience in Brazil is currently happening and, though not as well known as San Diego Comic-Con, there's still a lot going on and studios are trying to promote their upcoming releases. Sony is currently filming the Venom movie and used Ccxp as the place to unveil the first poster, and possibly movie logo, for the Spider-Man spin-off.

Fans of the comic book version of Venom, who first appeared in the world of Marvel Comics in 1984, will likely be pretty pleased with this first poster. It features a blood red V, with the titular character's snarling face, sporting his signature, razor-sharp teeth. The larger banner also reveals the tagline, "We are Venom." That likely refers to the fact that Venom is the product of an alien symbiote and the host, who has taken on different identities over the years in the comics.

‘Venom’ Banners Offer a First Look at Possible Logo

While at Ccxp (Comic Con Experience) in Brazil, Collider's own Steve Weintraub stumbled upon something very interesting. At the Sony booth, somewhat hidden, there was a banner for Venom, with what could be the film's logo. While nothing is confirmed, it seems possible now that Sony might use Ccxp as a launch point for their promotion of Venom. For those who aren't caught up, the movie is a Spider-Man spinoff (that will likely not include the actual Spider-Man) directed by Zombieland's Ruben Fleischer and starring Tom Hardy, alongside Michelle Williams, Riz Ahmed, and Jenny …

Is this the first look at Tom Hardy’s Venom costume?

Anyone following Tom Hardy’s Instagram account will be well aware of the actor’s penchant for sharing behind-the-scenes production pictures for his forthcoming superhero outing as Venom. His latest photo might be the clearest indication yet of the kind of Venom storyline we’re going to get, with many speculating that the military style garb that Hardy’s wearing nods towards the Agent Venom arc.

Agent Venom was featured in a 2011 run, in which the government hire a special agent to wear the Venom Symbiote, but only for a period of time up to 48 hours, or risk permanent bonding with the alien.

This could obviously be pure speculation, because we know Hardy is playing Eddie Brock, and in the Agent Venom comic book it’s Flash Thompson, Peter Parker’s high-school bully, who wears the alien Symbiote skin known as Venom. It’s also been rumoured for a long

Featurette explores Tom Hardy’s training for Venom

Sony Pictures is currently deep in production on Venom, the first of what the studio hopes will be a series of Spider-Man spinoff movies set within their own shared Spidey cinematic universe (one which may or may not contain the wall-crawler himself).

Over the past few weeks we’ve seen some set photos, spy video and behind-the-scenes images, and now we have a featurette entitled ‘Training Tom Hardy for Venom’, which sees Mark Mene and Nathan Jones discussing Hardy’s preparations for the role of Eddie Brock.

Venom Movie Unleashes Dark, Powerful Carnage Says Tom Hardy's Trainer

Venom Movie Unleashes Dark, Powerful Carnage Says Tom Hardy's Trainer
Tom Hardy has been training with Mma fighter Nathan Jones for Eddie Brock's massive transformation into Venom. Jones has now declared that the world isn't ready for what Hardy is about to unleash. Unlike the agile, nimble, more slender build of Peter Parker's Spider-Man, Eddie Brock's Venom is a much larger, more intimidating character. To prepare for the role of the roided-up Symbiote anti-hero, Tom Hardy has been training with Jones and weight trainer Mark Mene and they have released a new video of Hardy preparing for his role.

Production for Venom is currently underway and we have seen a few pictures and short clips from the set, but the new video showing off Tom Hardy's training regimen in the most intense look that we've seen thus far. Both trainers Nathan Jones and Mark Mene promise a villain the likes of which have never been seen before. Mene had this to say.

New Venom Shot Takes Us Into Eddie Brock’s Home

With Spider-Man now rubbing shoulders with the Avengers over in the McU, Sony is moving forward with its own shared universe headed up by other anti-heroes and villains from the Spider-verse. With projects such as Silver & Black and Morbius the Living Vampire on the way, first out the door is Venom, starring Tom Hardy as the symbiote’s host Eddie Brock.

So far, we haven’t seen much of the movie, save a few set photos and videos which gave us a glimpse at Hardy in character as Brock. As it’s still early days on the production – filming only began on October 23rd – the movie’s official Twitter account is just teasing us with oblique behind the scenes shots every now and then. They’re not much, but the latest is a selfie from Hardy himself, captioned “Home.” From that, we can gather that this was taken on the
