Filmed on an estimated budget of $25M, Cloverfield has since earned its place in the monster movie food chain,

According to CinemaBlend, Hemsworth revealed during an interview to promote his new movie that both Russell Crowe (The Nice Guys) and Dakota Johnson (Fifty Shades of Grey) are set to appear in the film, which marks Goddard’s second directorial effort after The Cabin in the Woods.
Details on Bad Times at the El Royale are being kept under wraps, but it has been described as a “60s noir thriller” and is said to revolve around a rundown hotel in California’s Lake Tahoe region.
In addition to The Cabin in the Woods, Goddard’s screenwriting credits include Cloverfield, World War Z and The Martian, the latter of which saw him nominated for an Academy Award.

Batman and Apes director, Matt Reeves, is setting up a first-look deal at Netflix for his production company...
In yet another sign of the changing times, director Matt Reeves at the height of his blockbuster and franchised prowess has set-up a new deal for his production company, 6th & Idaho, with the streaming service Netflix, as per Deadline.
To contextualise this for a moment, the director of the last two highly regarded Planet Of The Apes films and Warner Bros' upcoming and untitled Batman movie is setting up shop for at least the next several years with Netflix, which would allow the streaming giant to have first look at any movies Reeves produces through 6th & Idaho, which presumably would include films he would also direct.
The move follows a year in which Netflix has attracted increasingly well-known genre filmmakers like Bong Joon-ho and David Ayer in 2017, and

Reeves’ deal had previously been based at Fox.
Reeves’ feature credits include “Let Me In,” “Cloverfield,” and “Dawn of the Planet of the Apes.” He also co-created the television series “Felicity” with J.J. Abrams and directed episodes of “Homicide: Life on the Street,” “Gideon’s Crossing,” and “Relativity.”
“Matt is a fantastic storyteller with a unique vision and his track record speaks for itself,” Scott Stuber, head of the film initiative at Netflix, said in a statement. “At Netflix, we are partnering with the best filmmakers and know that Matt and his team will bring great, inventive films to our global audience. We couldn’t be more excited to welcome him to the Netflix family.”

With Thor: Ragnarok director Taika Waititi reportedly circling the director’s chair – and stating that he’s looking to adapt the manga, rather than the classic anime movie – it is now being reported that Warner Bros. has enlisted a production designer to help bring Neo-Tokyo to life.
According to Omega Underground, The Predator production designer Martin Whist has now boarded the project. Whist’s previous credits include Cloverfield, Super 8, The Cabin in the Woods, RoboCop and Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb.

Cloverfield 3 To Be Released in February: What we Know
One thing that isn't clear is why the sudden change of release date, especially now that it will go up against Rampage starring Dwayne Johnson and the long-awaited Super Troopers sequel.
The film was directed by Julius Onah and stars David Oyelowo, John Krasinski, Elizabeth Debicki, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Chris O’Dowd, Ziyi Zhang and Daniel Bruhl.
The plot of the film is being kept under wraps, but one Reddit user claims to have come across the plot while taking an online survey about upcoming films that line up with hints of the plot revealed last year.
The Cloverfield franchise is a project that’s particularly fascinating in an era of Hollywood filmmaking that seems to hinge on ever-increasing levels of series cohesion. While loyal audiences of the biggest film franchises purposefully seek out closely woven connections between entries, Cloverfield is atypical in its nature as an anthology series. These are films that appear to share only the loosest of connections, while building an expansive new cinematic universe.
It began in 2008, with the giant success of Matt Reeves’ Cloverfield. A high concept, invigorating take on both genre and artistic convention, the
