Studiocanal, Ben Stassen’s nWave Part Ways

Studiocanal, Ben Stassen’s nWave Part Ways
Paris– European film and TV powerhouse Studiocanal and Ben Stassen’s Brussels-based nWave, the company behind 3D animated hits such as “Sammy's Adventures,” are parting ways on amicable terms.

nWave has bought back the 49.9% stake that Studiocanal held. Since 2010, Studiocanal had been co-financing and distributing nWave’s films in France, the U.K., and Germany. The two companies worked together on “A Turtle’s Tale: Sammy’s Adventures,” “The House of Magic,” and “The Wild Life,” as well as the upcoming 3D animated movie “The Son of Bigfoot,” which is scheduled for a summer release.

Didier Lupfer, CEO of Studiocanal, said the company was still committed to financing, co-producing, and distributing quality family entertainment properties and is currently pursuing collaborations with a wide range of partners, such as Aardman Animations (“Shaun the Sheep The Movie,” “Early Man”) on a film-by-film basis. Over the last few years, Studiocanal has become

Tyler Perry Returns in Boo 2! a Madea Halloween This October

Tyler Perry Returns in Boo 2! a Madea Halloween This October
Before the holiday weekend gets under way, Lionsgate set new release dates for a pair of its upcoming projects. First up, the studio has handed out an October 20, 2017 release date for Boo 2! A Madea Halloween, a follow-up to last year's Boo! A Madea Halloween, from star/writer/director Tyler Perry. The studio also slated the new Aardman Animation stop-motion film Early Man for release on February 16, 2018. Unfortunately for both of those projects, they land on very competitive weekends.

Over the last few years, the third weekend in October has become increasingly crowded, but last year, Boo! A Madea Halloween managed to come out on top with a box office win of $28.5 million, easily beating three more newcomers, 20th Century Fox's Keeping Up With the Joneses, Jack Reacher: Never Go Back and Ouija: Origins of Evil. However, it only earned $73.2 million domestically and just $1.6 million internationally for a worldwide total of $74.8 million,

5 Secrets Behind Aardman’s Stop-Motion Animation, from ‘Wallace & Gromit’ to ‘Early Man’

5 Secrets Behind Aardman’s Stop-Motion Animation, from ‘Wallace & Gromit’ to ‘Early Man’
Aardman co-founder Peter Lord grabbed a ball of clay before his conversation last week at the Fmx International Conference on Animation, Effects, Vr, Games and Transmedia in Stuttgart, Germany, and slowly molded a puppet of Morph, Aardman’s first creation, while discussing 40 years of stop-motion glory at its animation studio in Bristol, England.

From “Wallace & Gromit” to “Creature Comforts” to “Shaun the Sheep,” Aardman will be firmly dedicated to the hand-crafted technique of stop-motion as long as audiences continue to embrace it. For Lord, who co-founded Aardman with school chum David Sproxton before adding animator-director Nick Park to the creative team, it’s all about the comedy of manners and empathy.

Here are Lord’s five rules for stop-motion animation:

1. Never forget the importance of Ray Harryhausen.

When Lord was ten years old, he saw “Jason and the Argonauts” and was so amazed at the brilliance of stop-motion animator Ray Harryhausen
