Angelina Jolie Reportedly Offered to Help Capture Warlord Joseph Kony by Offering to Take Him to Dinner
The name is Jolie, Angelina Jolie.

In a case of the truth being far stranger than even Hollywood fiction can create, the Salt actress once came perilously close to taking part in some real-life espionage on behalf of the International Criminal Court (Icc).

A hoard of 40,000 Icc documents leaked to the French investigative website Mediapart reveals that Jolie once offered to act as human bait in a trap to arrest brutal Ugandan warlord Joseph Kony.

She “has the idea to invite Kony to dinner and then arrest him,” reads an e-mail sent by former Icc Chief Prosecutor Luis Moreno Ocampo,

‘Maleficent 2’ With Angelina Jolie: Joachim Rønning in Talks to Direct Sequel
Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales” director Joachim Rønning is in talks to direct “Maleficent 2,” an individual with knowledge of the project tells TheWrap. The sequel is expected to go start production in the first quarter of 2018. Angelina Jolie will reprise the title role in the live-action fairy tale. Jolie is notoriously reluctant to do live-action sequels, preferring to focus on original movies as both an actress and a filmmaker. Sony and Universal once planned sequels to “Salt” and “Wanted,” respectively, but Jolie hasn’t been keen on returning for either would-be franchise after the “Tomb Raider

‘Red Sparrow’ Blowback: Why There’s Room For More Than One Ass-Kicking Woman in Cinema
American Assassin” opens in theaters this weekend, and it tells a story audiences have heard before: A tragic loss turns a broken young man into a reluctant hero. It’s the same formula that turned Bruce Wayne into Batman, James Bond into 007, and pulls John Wick out of retirement and on a bloody path toward vengeance. Still, despite stiff competition from “It,” audience will go see Dylan O’Brien get mentored by a gruff and reluctant Michael Keaton, hunt down terrorists, and save the day. But that courtesy is rarely extended when women are put into similar circumstances.

When the first trailer for “Red Sparrow” arrived on Sept. 14, it teased Jennifer Lawrence as a Russian ballerina who is recruited by the Sparrow School, a secret intelligence service that trains young people like her to use their bodies and minds as weapons. If the plot sounds familiar, it should. It’s

Danny Trejo Blasts Actors Who Do Their Own Stunts

Danny Trejo Blasts Actors Who Do Their Own Stunts
Machete star Danny Trejo says that actors should stick to acting and let the stuntmen do their job. Trejo, who doesn't seem like he's scared of anything, really, knows his place on a movie set and it's definitely not doing dangerous stunts that could possibly jeopardize the jobs of many on a project. The news comes after Tom Cruise broke his ankle while performing a risky stunt on the set of Mission Impossible 6, which has halted production 8 to 9 weeks while the actor recovers from jumping between two buildings. That now leaves a giant crew out of a job for at least 2 weeks while Cruise is on the mend.

Trejo recently sat down to talk to Yahoo Movies where the subject of stunts came up. Trejo, who has over 300 acting credits to his name, believes that the actors should stick to acting and stay away from potentially dangerous stunts for bragging rights.

Has Wonder Woman opened the floodgates for female action heroes?

The release of Charlize Theron spy movie Atomic Blonde is the first test of whether we are heading into a new era of kick-ass equality

If Jean-Luc Godard really meant it when he said “All you need to make a movie is a girl and a gun”, how come he never made a movie with just a girl and a gun? Vivre Sa Vie might just about scrape through, but Godard basically took it as read that there would be a guy in the mix.

Hollywood, on the other hand, has started to take Godard’s maxim literally. We have had countless “girl and gun” movies recently, and virtually none have stuck. It’s as though the studios looked at Bourne, Bond, John Wick and all the other franchised-up action heroes and all had the same bright idea: “Make the hero a woman!” Often that becomes a woman wearing next to nothing,

‘Atomic Blonde’ Review: Charlize Theron Kicks Ass, But Spy Action Thriller Has More Fight Than Bite

‘Atomic Blonde’ Review: Charlize Theron Kicks Ass, But Spy Action Thriller Has More Fight Than Bite
Move over Angelina Jolie and Scarlett Johansson, there’s a new kickass woman ready to deliver a knockout punch to any man in her way. In the spirit of female action-driven movies like Lucy, Wanted, Salt and La Femme Nikita comes Atomic Blonde. Of course Charlize Theron, recently in Mad Max and to a much lesser extent in The Fate Of The Furious, has displayed a no-nonsense, take-no-prisoners attitude in proving she can serve up this kind of entertainment as well as any…

Coming Distractions: Noomi Rapace does the badass CIA agent thing in the Unlocked trailer

She’s fought aliens, abusers, and Rachel McAdams, but at long last, Noomi Rapace finally gets to shoot some guns while looking cool. (In a movie, anyway; maybe she does that all the time in real life.) Unlocked, the new action thriller with a deeply generic title, gives Rapace the chance to do a bunch of badass stuff that one would usually find in an Angelina Jolie vehicle. The actor stars as a disgraced CIA agent who gets called back into service to help figure the details of a suspected imminent attack in London. Unfortunately, while interrogating a suspect, she suddenly realizes the entire situation is a setup, and the CIA’s security has been compromised. Soon, she’s dodging bullets, tracking down the real bad guys, and somehow working with Orlando Bloom’s fellow ass-kicker.

It all looks like silly good fun in a Salt kind of way, with

‘Proud Mary’ Trailer: Taraji P. Henson Is the Ass-Kicking Action Star Hollywood Needs Right Now

‘Proud Mary’ Trailer: Taraji P. Henson Is the Ass-Kicking Action Star Hollywood Needs Right Now
Action movies are not usually star vehicles for Hollywood actresses. Charlize Theron in “Atomic Blonde,” Angelina Jolie in “Salt” and Scarlett Johansson in “Lucy” are anomalies when they should be the standard, but Hollywood is slowly coming around to this fact. Case in point: “Proud Mary.” Never in a million years would the old Hollywood guard let the amazing Taraji P. Henson lead an action vehicle as a butt-kicking assassin, but it’s 2017 and we’re more than ready for this.
