Clowns Are Losing Work Thanks To Stephen King’s It

It ain’t easy being a clown in the modern world. Thanks to real-life serial killers like John Wayne Gacy, who was known as the “Killer Clown,” as well as shows like American Horror Story: Freak Show, it’s impossible for some audience members to separate the fictional horrifying clowns to those who are just trying to make a living putting smiles on people’s faces.

Stephen King also didn’t help much with his novel It, which saw shapeshifter usually take on the form of Pennywise the Clown. This effect was amplified in 1990 when the miniseries came out, and with the new film on the horizon, there has been an increase in creepy clown sightings that are presumed to have been influenced by fans of King.

World Clown Association president Pam Moody spoke with THR regarding the difficulties that such sightings created for them.

"Last year we were really blindsided.

If Savage Things teaches us anything, it’s that if you kill someone’s parents and enroll them in a government program with the intention of conditioning them into being a world class assassin, your actions may come to haunt you, no matter how sociopathic that subject may be.

In the past few years, Vertigo has firmly proven they aren’t ready to go quietly into the night and remain one of the greatest sources for mature storytelling in the medium of comic books. Not only have they put out stellar books such as The Sheriff of Babylon, The Dark & Bloody, and Frostbite in recent memory, but I’ll argue that each of those is ripe for a motion picture or television adaptation. Actually, The Kitchen is set to get that treatment, which was a limited

Twenty years after prying our way from the clutches of extinction, humanity is thrust into grave danger once more in Independence Day: Resurgence, with today’s barnstorming five-minute trailer – five minutes! – outlining much of the plot underpinning Roland Emmerich’s long-awaited sequel.

The elevator pitch? Commemorating two decades since the War of 1996, and after advancing military tech in the form of the unified Earth Space Defense program, the world’s leading powers stand defiant against any alien threat. But for all of their bravado, complacency creeps through the bleeding-edge defenses when Jeff Goldblum’s David Levinson stumbles upon an alien ship – one that just so happens to be transmitting a distress signal to the stars.

What follows is a deluge of cinematic destruction that hews closely to Emmerich’s M.O. in that the world’s monuments are literally torn asunder and, in the spirit of the ’96 original, the fate
