Insomniac doesn’t mess around when it comes to lineups. The company has consistently impressed us year after year by revealing star studded rosters for their events, all with a nice variety of genres and artists, ensuring that there’s always something for everyone.

Tonight, they continue that trend with the full lineup for Edc (Electric Daisy Carnival) Las Vegas, which was announced on the latest edition of Night Owl Radio, Insomniac’s weekly radio show. As per usual though, the names were revealed in a rather cryptic manner and while we still don’t have an official list to consult, the Edm community has taken to Reddit to start putting the pieces together.

Diplo Uploads DJ Set From Xs Las Vegas’ 7th Anniversary Party

There aren’t a great many artists big enough to help the top grossing nightclub in the world celebrate its seventh anniversary. Hip-hop and bass music icon Diplo fits the bill, though, and he’s uploaded his two-and-a-half-hour set from the March 21st celebration to his SoundCloud account for everyone who wasn’t able to attend.

Before going in, though, it’s worth noting that this was one of Diplo’s more mainstream-friendly performances. Las Vegas nightclubs go for a very specific sound – so where his recent Diplo and Friends set showcased his expert ear for hip-hop, his Xs performance predominantly consisted of big room house and ringtone rap edits.

That said, Diplo‘s DJ set at Xs Las Vegas’ 7th anniversary celebration certainly still had its gems. He was nice enough to scrawl out a tracklist as well, so if you hear something you like then find it by

Afrojack Cheeses Up Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike’s “Higher Place”

As many bad things as could be said about Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike (and trust us, we’ve said most of them), it was hard not to like “Higher Place,” their softer, piano-driven Ne-Yo collaboration from earlier this summer. Thankfully, Afrojack has stepped up to give us more to hate about the track by delivering this juiced-up remix that strips the original of all its redeeming qualities.

Afrojack’s remix of “Higher Place” starts off innocently enough, but after the first verse it introduces a dated synth lead that almost sounds like it was pulled directly from Swedish House Mafia’s 2013 anthem “Reload.” At the bridge, the addition of an electric guitar solo only serves to further entangle the original progression in superfluous influences, ultimately distracting the listener from the aspects of the original that made it work in the first place.

Fedde Le Grand Goes Big Room With “The Noise”

Nobody debates Fedde Le Grand‘s house music credentials – which is why it’s unexpected to see him tackle big room house at a time when the style gets mocked harder than any other sound in electronic music. For what it’s worth, though, there is decent big room out there, and “That Noise” certainly falls into that category.

Don’t get me wrong, this track doesn’t stray from the main stage formula – it just accomplishes what songs by the likes of Dvbbs, Borgeous and Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike (or their ghostwriters, anyways) do but with more thoughtful sound design elements. A simple synth pluck melody in the beginning lathers up into a reverberant progression before dropping into a barbaric rhythm engineered to move a few thousand bodies, and I’d be lying if I said I didn’t bob my head to it a little.

While what Fedde Le Grand

Vinai Remain Edm’s Biggest Joke With “Get Ready Now”

Sometimes the internet chews up and spits out a musical act so quickly that you can’t help but feel sorry for them. Italian Edm outfit Vinai may have been the untimely victims of a seemingly random tidal wave of criticism when the scene united to burn them at the stake for last month’s “Techno,” but since they not-so-triumphantly returned with a release of scarcely any substance, it seems like as good a time as any for me to jump on the hatewagon.

So yeah, let me show you kids how to properly bag on a lousy artist. Take notes, this might come in handy later.

Forget about their music – because it is, after all, really forgettable – Vinai looks like Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike adopted two Jersey Shore casting rejects and taught them little more than how to fist pump to pre-recorded sets of music produced by Maarten Vorwerk.

Armin Van Buuren Makes Bold Prediction In Tomorrowland Documentary Trailer

Last month the organizers of Boom, Belgium festival Tomorrowland announced This Was Tomorrow – a documentary on perhaps the world’s largest electronic music fest – and they’ve just followed it up with an official trailer. Clocking in at just over two minutes, the footage features many of the hallmarks of festival aftermovies, but an Armin Van Buuren quote near the end is what grabbed my attention the most.

In addition to crowd shots set to Steve Angello’s “Children of the Wild,” brief appearances from the likes of Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike set a celebratory tone to the trailer. However, after footage from Armin Van Buuren’s set, the worldwide trance icon makes something of a lofty prediction:

I strongly believe that what we are experiencing right now is more than hype. It’s a revolution, and I think only retrospectively the historians will look back on it and say,

Q&A: Todd Casey and Zach Shields Discuss Trick ’R Treat: Days Of The Dead and Krampus

  • DailyDead
Fans of the 2007 horror anthology Trick 'r Treat can now enjoy an early Halloween goodie in the form of Legendary Comics' Trick 'r Treat: Days of the Dead, a graphic novel containing four eclectic Halloween horror stories and featuring Sam, one of cinema's ultimate enforcers of All Hallow's Eve traditions. For our latest Q&A feature, Daily Dead caught up with two of the comic's co-writers, Todd Casey and Zach Shields, who discussed creating Days of the Dead, co-writing Michael Dougherty's upcoming Krampus film, and much more.

Where did the idea for Trick 'r Treat: Days of the Dead originate?

Todd Casey: I came late to the party, so I'll defer to the others on this. But my assumption is that people have been waiting a long time for Trick 'r Treat 2 (Mike included) and a comic made sense as a way to begin welcoming people back into that world.

Happy 25th Birthday, Jonathan Lipnicki: See the Adorable Jerry Maguire Kid All Grown Up!

Happy 25th Birthday, Jonathan Lipnicki: See the Adorable Jerry Maguire Kid All Grown Up!
Remember Jonathan Lipnicki?  You know, that adorable little kid with the quirky glasses who stole our hearts opposite Tom Cruise in Jerry Maguire. Well, the former child star turns a whopping 25 today and, while we've honestly never felt older, this is also a perfectly reasonable time for us to note just how darn cute he still is! Going on two decades since the towheaded charmer taught us a thing or two about human heads and bunny rabbits when he was only 5 years old, Lipnicki continues to act.  After starring in family friendly favorites Stuart Little and Like Mike in the early 2000s, the birthday boy made his return to the silver screen in 2012 with For the Love of Money,...

DJ Mag Announces Their Top 100 DJs Of 2015

At long last, DJ Mag has unveiled their top 100 DJs list of 2015. While this year’s results made for a predictable, cross section of the mainstream Edm talent pool’s most accomplished echelon, perhaps nothing spoke to the state of the scene as much as the #1 entry.

Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike secured the #1 spot for the first time in their career, all but proving that contemporary dance music is more manufactured than it’s ever been at any point throughout its history. The two artists are famous for enlisting the services of ghostwriters like Maarten Vorwerk to assist in their productions, and engaged in notoriously aggressive marketing campaigns to drum up votes.

More than ever, the results simply prove that the rankings are more for which artists have the biggest marketing budgets than anything else.

But I digress. The list itself played out mostly as expected,

Behold, The World’s Bottom 100 DJs

Sure, everyone’s heard of the DJ Mag Top 100, but what about its less prestigious younger brother? The list of the world’s Bottom 100 DJs, powered by Sparks, has finally hit the internet. 100,000 people participated in the voting to give the results you see below. Its completely arbitrary, ravaged by opinion, and has no real significance whatsoever; in essence, its not so unlike the real DJ Mag Top 100, but at least for this one, nobody is paying ridiculous sums to augment their polls…

If you have an obscene love for Vinai, think Guetta is a god, or have zero understanding of sarcasm, you may want to stop reading here. For your giggling pleasure, we’ve compiled the 20 highest ranking worst DJs in the world, but you can check out the full listing of the world’s Bottom 100 DJs here.

Exclusive Interview: Andrew Rayel Talks New Material For 2016 And Hans Zimmer

After starting his career at just 13-years-old, Andrei Rata is producing the sound of the future. Although, you might know him better as Andrew Rayel. This Moldovan producer is a frequent feature on Armada Music, Armind, and A State Of Trance, and now he even hosts his own radio show titled after his debut album, Find Your Harmony. Now, at 23, he doesn’t show any signs of slowing down, and although Rayel is dubbed by many as “the new Armin van Buuren,” he’s something else entirely.

After enduring a mud stricken journey to the Chattahoochee Hills, we were fortunate enough sit down with Andrew Rayel before his performance at TomorrowWorld. Apart from being one of the most kind-hearted DJs out there, he has a genuine ear for music, and truly believes in the power of dance.

Read on to hear how Rayel got his start in trance, his love for Hanz Zimmer,

Check Out TomorrowWorld’s Official Trailer And Stage Designs

Atlanta, Georgia festival TomorrowWorld is less than a month away, and its organizers are intent as ever on capitalizing on your last-minute Fomo. The brainchild of SFX-owned Tomorrowland parent company ID&T – whose reputation recently took a hit when they had to cancel their inaugural One Tribe festival which would have taken place in SoCal during two of the same days – has released an official trailer for the annual massive, which will celebrate its third year.

In the video, a fantasy-like intro characteristic of ID&T’s other promotional videos precedes a series of nature, crowd and performance shots set to “The Hum” by Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike and Ummet Ozcan. A montage of fireworks and confetti blasts accompanies the track’s drop, and the ecstatic motion of festival attendees calls forth feelings that are universal to anyone who’s ever attended a live music event in the past five years.
