Tim Daly Memorializes the True Casualty of Wings' Big Plane Crash
Let us all observe a moment of silence for the Sandpiper Air flight that went down off of Cape Cod nearly 25 years ago… but don’t worry about observing too long, because it was a fictional event on the NBC comedy Wings. And the only real victim, star Tim Daly tells us, was a rather sensitive part of his anatomy.

A Look Back at NBC's Infamous Flop Emeril, From Co-Star Carrie Preston
Hey, remember when celebrity chef Emeril Lagasse had his own NBC sitcom that got yanked off the air after a couple months? Well, Carrie Preston does… because she was in it.

A decade before she won an Emmy for The Good Wife, Preston played kooky (and blonde!) food stylist B.D. Benson on Emeril, which lasted just seven episodes in the fall of 2001. Starring Lagasse as (what else?) a TV chef, Emeril was created by Designing Women alum Linda Bloodworth-Thomason, with a supporting cast that included TV veteran Robert Urich and future The View co-host Sherri Shepherd. But critics were

Hoppin' John or kosher? Black-eyed pea recipes for New Year's Day

  • Pop2it
Hoppin' John is one way to incorporate black-eyed peas into a New Year's Day dish. The legume is believed to bring luck and prosperity in each new year. While typically associated with southern tradition, the lucky legumes are also consumed at Rosh Hashana as part of Jewish New Year celebrations.

Emeril Lagasse offers a southern take on the bean with a recipe for Hoppin' John. Emeril suggests soaking the black-eyed peas overnight, so you may want to get moving on this recipe now. You'll also need a large ham hock, along with various ingredients you likely already have in the pantry.

If you're eating kosher and still want to enjoy the promise of prosperity, the New York Times has you covered with a recipe for Couscous With Black-Eyed Peas and Greens. You won't need any exotic ingredients with this dish, as long as your spice cabinet is well-stocked.

So get going on those black-eyed peas,

Treme 3.07 Preview: Mardi Gras in Washington D.C.?

It's Carnival time on Treme and this year, the festivities find New Orleans in much better shape that previous years. Financially, spiritually - the foundation of Nola has grown in strength and Mardi Gras will be more of a culmination of that progress and provide the residents with a chance to celebrate how far they've come. In prior years, Carnival had been more of an escape, a way to put thoughts of homelessness, crumbling infrastructure, delayed governmental aid, and a seemingly hopeless future to rest for a time. New Orleans might be not where its residents would like it to be, but it's getting there and now's the time to reward themselves for making it to this point.

On tonight's episode of Treme, the Carnival spirit isn't limited to only New Orleans, as Nelson and Annie are both in Washington D.C. for a Mardi Gras Ball. Nelson is, of course,

TV Review: ‘Top Chef: Texas’ Switches Recipe on Reality Hit

  • HollywoodChicago.com
Chicago – Some fans are going to want to send back the latest offering from Chef Tom Colicchio and the team behind Bravo’s Emmy-winning “Top Chef.” At first, it’s a little baffling to see one of the most acclaimed reality programs of all time switch up its formula this notably with a series of starting challenges that will remind viewers of “American Idol.” But I believe fans can adjust and have faith in Colicchio and his belief that the new structure will create the most intense competition yet. It’s a new sauce but it’s ultimately the same amazing dish.

Television Rating: 4.0/5.0

Everything’s bigger in Texas, so why not start “Top Chef: Texas” with a Gigantic cast? When 29 chefs show up at the Alamo to be greeted by the lovely Padma Lakshmi, the smart ones know something unusual is up. They can’t possibly have that many Elimination Challenges.
