Dwayne Johnson on His Rock-Solid Empire and Walk of Fame Honor

Dwayne Johnson on His Rock-Solid Empire and Walk of Fame Honor
It’s midnight and my phone rings. “Hey, E-Wag!” exclaims a deeply masculine, yet comforting and chipper voice.

It’s Dwayne Johnson. The pro wrestler-turned-superstar is calling from the car in Hawaii on his way to catch an overnight plane from the first stop of his “Jumanji” press tour to the next leg of the global gabfest in Paris.

Despite squeezing in a call during his only 45 minutes of free time, in transit, nonetheless, Johnson’s enthusiasm and focus is magnetic. His personal greeting to this reporter is perfectly in line with how he interacts with his 175 million followers on social media every day, and is evident of The Rock’s unique knack to form a genuine connection with everyone from fan from studio executive. His commitment to a simple phone interview is exemplary of how he attaches himself to each and every project — and there are a lot of them.

This past year,

‘Fate of the Furious’ Sound Crew Had to Go Bigger, Louder

‘Fate of the Furious’ Sound Crew Had to Go Bigger, Louder
It’s hard to imagine that a single sonic failing could derail a film, but that’s exactly what the sound team was grappling with on Universal’s “Fate of the Furious.”

It was the moment in which Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel) stomps on a red button on the floorboard of his souped-up 1971 Plymouth Gtx, and the car goes into misfire mode, giving him a ruse to slip from the clutches of criminal mastermind Cipher (Charlize Theron). The audience needed to be convinced that the misfiring engine sound could fool Cipher, and make sure people would buy it.

“The whole film almost unraveled at that point,” says supervising sound editor Peter Brown. “Basically, we gave [re-recording mixer Frank A. Montaño] every sound effect of a stalling car that’s ever been recorded and he did something with it — a lot of different times.”

Although pivotal, the car misfire is just one tiny element in the movie’s massive aural landscape, comprising complex

Tyrese Gibson Threatens to Quit ‘Fast 9’ if Dwayne Johnson Returns

Tyrese Gibson Threatens to Quit ‘Fast 9’ if Dwayne Johnson Returns
Tyrese Gibson has threatened to quit the “Fast and the Furious” franchise amid his ongoing feud with co-star Dwayne Johnson.

Gibson posted on Instagram Wednesday, telling “loyal fans and loved ones from Our Fast universe” that he won’t appear in “Fast 9” if Johnson is involved.

“I’m sorry to announce that if [Dwayne] is in Fast 9, there will no more Roman [Pearce]. You mess with family and my daughters survival I mess with yours,” Gibson captioned a selfie of him, Johnson, and Vin Diesel. Gibson is currently in a legal battle with his ex-wife over custody of their daughter.

This latest rant comes after Gibson criticized Johnson on Instagram in October when Universal Pictures announced the ninth “Fast” installment was being pushed back a year to accommodate a spinoff around Johnson and Jason Statham’s characters.

Gibson joined the “Fast” franchise with “2 Fast 2 Furious” in 2003, with Johnson coming on board in 2011’s “Fast Five.”

Franchise Veteran Justin Lin In “Advanced Talks” To Helm Fast And Furious 9

If Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has his Instagram game down to a tee, then his Fast and Furious co-star, Vin Diesel, rules the roost when it comes to Facebook.

For years, the franchise veteran and all-around petrolhead has maintained a relatively open dialog with his legions of fans, and Diesel’s latest Facebook video has brought the future of Hollywood’s lucrative street-racing franchise into sharp focus.

Staying true to his original promise that Fast and Furious 9 and its untitled sequel will herald the end of Universal’s Toretto saga – you know, barring the planned character-driven spinoffs – Vin Diesel touched on that two-part finale, before confirming that Justin Lin is in “advanced talks” to steer the franchise toward the distant sunset.

Lin is a bona fide stalwart of The Fast and The Furious, having directed the third, fourth, fifth, and sixth instalments, so it’s small wonder why Diesel and Co.

Tyrese Gibson And Ludacris Turned Down A Fast And Furious Spinoff

It seems that Instagram is the place to settle conflict these days – at least if you’re a cast member of The Fast And The Furious franchise. After Vin Diesel, Dwayne Johnson, and Michelle Rodriguez all aired their views and differences with passive-aggressive Instagram posts over the past year, Tyrese Gibson has now entered the fray, fuelling speculation about the true cause of a recently announced release delay for Fast And Furious 9.

The sequel to the blockbuster hit The Fate Of The Furious has been delayed by a full year, and rumours have begun to swirl – asking whether it’s due to the development of a spinoff film featuring Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham. Days ago, Tyrese Gibson responded to Dwayne Johnson’s Instagram post, which pictured him hard at work on project development, with a ‘calling out’ of what he considers to be divisive behaviour. Universal Has Delayed Fast And Furious 9, Pushing Release Back To 2020

Since The Fast And The Furious was released back in 2001, Universal has built the property into one of the biggest film franchises ever made. Two of its instalments – Furious 7 and The Fate Of The Furious – have secured spots in the top 15 highest grossing movies, worldwide, of all-time. Globally, the series as a whole has generated over $5 billion in box office revenue. This is a flagship title for the studio, which makes it all the more curious to hear that the release date for the next instalment – tentatively titled Fast And Furious 9 – has been delayed by a full year.

Despite its success, the franchise has not been without its production problems. Most significantly, the Fast And Furious cast suffered the death of original, returning cast member Paul Walker during principal photography of Furious 7. Much time was spent considering how to move forward with the series after the loss of such a central figure.

‘Fast & Furious 9’ Stalls at the Starting Line; Release Date Pushed Back by Universal

With eight, high-octane features in The Fast and the Furious franchise tallying $1.76 billion (adj.) domestically and a stupid $5.13 billion worldwide, clearly Universal is aiming to keep the box office-busting vehicle cruising along. This year's installment, The Fate of the Furious, added a huge chunk to that total with over $224 million (adj.) domestically and more than $1.23 billion worldwide, so it's obvious that the hype for this movie-verse is still strong. The studio had previously set the ninth installment for an April 19, 2019 release, but now, Fast & Furious …
