Women in Animation Write Powerful Open Letter to End Sexual Harassment: ‘We Will No Longer Be Silent’
217 women and gender-nonconforming people working in animation have written an open letter demanding an end to sexual harassment in their industry. The letter, which can be read in its entirety on the Los Angeles Times website, was sent to executives at major animation studios on October 19, including Disney, Paramount, Warner Bros., Cartoon Network, Sony, and DreamWorks.

“In the wake of the Harvey Weinstein scandal, many of the women who work in animation have begun discussing more openly issues that we have dealt with quietly throughout our careers,” the letter says. “As we came together to share our stories of sexism, sexual harassment and, in some cases, sexual assault, we were struck by the pervasiveness of the problem.”

‘Samurai Jack’ Creator Genndy Tartakovsky On Putting Sex and Violence Into the Fifth Season
After Genndy Tartakovsky’s cult animated series “Samurai Jack” was canceled by Cartoon Network in 2004, rumors swirled for years about a feature-length adaptation. Tartakovsky worked with four different studios to adapt his hyper-stylized blend of martial arts and sci-fi action for the big screen, including New Line, Sony and J.J. AbramsBad Robot, but none of them panned out. “As soon as we started developing it as a movie, they wanted to fit it into a box,” Tartakovsky told IndieWire. “I love ‘Jack’ as one of my creations and would never want to change it from what it was supposed to be. There was no reason to reinvent. It was working.”

Film Review: ‘My Little Pony: The Movie’

Film Review: ‘My Little Pony: The Movie’
The overwhelmingly cute “My Little Pony: The Movie” (the font squeezes hearts into each “O” and “P,” and the spiders have googly pink eyes) is less a film than a feature-length “very special episode” of the TV hit “My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic,” a kiddie cartoon that’s spent seven seasons insisting that everyone needs a hug (villains, too). Audiences who haven’t followed the glitter-bomb adventures of bossy bookworm Twilight Sparkle, glamorous Rarity, hyperactive Pinkie Pie, introverted Fluttershy, speed demon Rainbow Dash and country girl Applejack don’t get a helping hoof in understanding the land of Equestria — and audiences saddled with cynicism will have to shake it off by the first chords of the Go-Go’s “We Got the Beat.”

The My Little Pony movie doesn’t argue to be seen in theaters. Director Jayson Thiessen and his main voice actors Ashleigh Ball, Tabitha St. Germain, Tara Strong and Andrea Libman have already done

‘The Powerpuff Girls’ DVD “The Last Donnycorn” Backs the Wrong Magical Horse

The latest DVD release of Cartoon Network's rebooted series The Powerpuff Girls puts the modern version's special "The Last Donnycorn" front and center. Unfortunately, this 22-minute story featuring Donny the Unicorn is the weakest effort of this 12-episode release, a decision which masks some gems from the Emmy-nominated series. Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup remain as cute and combat-ready as ever as they fight to protect Townsville from the forces of evil and try to have a normal childhood despite their superpowers. Their time is better spent doing anything else besides babysitting an annoying Donnycorn, …

Lego Dimensions & Marvel Super Heroes 2 Hands On Preview: Brick By Brick [E3 2017]

While bigger titles such as Middle-Earth: Shadow of War might be dominating the water-cooler talk when it comes to Warner Bros. Interactive, gamers would be doing themselves a disservice if they were to simply ignore the 2017 lineup of Lego titles.

I’ll be the first to say; whoever oversees the branding and content acquisition for Lego Dimensions is a genius, and deserves an award for consistently acquiring franchises which will undoubtedly win over gamers, old and new. The original (and still readily available) starter pack shipped with Gandalf, Lego Batman and Wyldstyle, a rather clever combination of characters that allowed for varied gameplay experiences throughout the ‘core’ story mode.

Since its original release, Warner Bros. has continued to build upon its take on the ‘toys-to-life’ genre, rapidly acquiring new franchises to undergo the Lego treatment. From video game themed content (Portal, Sonic the Hedgehog) to classic 80s franchises (The A-Team
