Storyline

In this movie, Truman is a man whose life is a fake one... The place he lives is in fact a big studio with hidden cameras everywhere, and all his friends and people around him, are actors who play their roles in the most popular TV-series in the world: The Truman Show. Trivia

This was Jim Carrey's first time taking on a serious dramatic leading role. "It was one of the best scripts I ever read. It works on so many levels." See more »

Goofs

When Truman notices Meryl's crossing her fingers in the wedding photo, the hand that is visible would be her right hand as she is standing on the right side of the photo looking at Truman who is on the left. The mistake is that Meryl's wedding ring is on the hand with the crossed fingers, which would be her right hand. (This may agree with the "lie" of the crossed fingers.) See more »

Quotes

[first lines]
Christof: We've become bored with watching actors give us phony emotions. We are tired of pyrotechnics and special effects. While the world he inhabits is, in some respects, counterfeit, there's nothing fake about Truman himself. No scripts, no cue cards. It isn't always Shakespeare, but it's genuine. It's a life.

One of the best movies in history
1 December 2006 | by See all my reviews

I loved this movie. Everything about it. It is one you just want to watch over and over again. Jim Carey, as usually, played an amazing role. He made you think you were him, as the whole movie did. Watch it... its a must.

Imagine being captivated all your life in a show, without knowing. Your neighbors, your family, your loved ones... everyone you ever knew were just actors, pretending to be people they are not. Well Truman Burbank not only imagined it, but also lived it. This is a hilarious movie, that will catch you from the first minute you watch it. Just be aware... once you start watching it, it will be difficult to stop. I rate this movie 5/5, with no negative comments.
