Rights were acquired from Hong Kong-based Distribution Workshop, which is representing the film at the American Film Market this week.
The story involves a secret underground society of Wuyinmen, who have supernatural abilities which they use to prevent the destruction of mankind. Those powers are called on when two paranormal creatures emerge from hiding.
WellGo plans to give the film an outing in theaters on Dec. 15, which would be a day-and-date release coordinated with its debut in mainland China. Although Christmas is not an official holiday in China, December is often the biggest month of the year for cinema-going in the Middle Kingdom, and many of the major commercial titles are time to hit screens in this season.
“Dunija” has a strong pedigree.
