Feuding Harvey Weinstein and The Weinstein Company Named Co-Defendants in Lawsuits Filed by Two Actresses
The Weinstein Company and its fired co-chairman, Harvey Weinstein, have been served two new California civil lawsuits in the past 24 hours. Each plaintiff is an actress listed as Jane Doe, but the second case is a class action suit that could amass many more accusers.

On November 14, TMZ first reported a lawsuit in which a woman claims Weinstein raped her at the Montage Beverly Hills hotel in 2016 after she was falsely told that she’d been cast in the now-cancelled Netflix series “Marco Polo,” which he executive produced. She said that the assault began with Weinstein performing unwanted oral sex on her, then penetrating her without a condom as she attempted to fight him off. At the same hotel in 2015, she was allegedly forced to watch the studio chief masturbate while he clutched her wrists with his free hand.

Michelle Dockery’s ‘Uncomfortable’ Harvey Weinstein Encounter: ‘I’d Heard the Rumors’
Michelle Dockery has a Harvey Weinstein story of her own, one that the “Downton Abbey” star says took place midway through her tenure on the celebrated BBC drama. Though the former Lady Mary clarifies in a Guardian interview that “it was a very brief meeting” during which “nothing much happened,” she still remembers “feeling un-com-fort-able.”

Dockery says that, since the first few stories about Weinstein broke, sexual harassment has been “the only conversation in town. Oh yeah, everyone’s talking about it. And I have huge admiration for those women who have come forward.” Asked whether she was surprised by any of the allegations, her response is unequivocal: “No. I’d heard the rumours.”

The Academy Expels Harvey Weinstein, Breaking with Tradition

The Academy Expels Harvey Weinstein, Breaking with Tradition
The board of governors of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences met Saturday morning for more than two hours to determine whether or not Harvey Weinstein should remain a member of the Tiffany organization that exists to promote the art of motion pictures. This breaks with tradition, as in 90 years the Academy has only revoked membership once, for a movie pirate who broke its rules.

Here’s their statement on expelling Weinstein forthwith:

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences Board of Governors met today to discuss the allegations against Harvey Weinstein, and has voted well in excess of the required two-thirds majority to immediately expel him from the Academy. We do so not simply to separate ourselves from someone who does not merit the respect of his colleagues but also to send a message that the era of willful ignorance and shameful complicity in sexually predatory

Guardians Of The Galaxy 2 Crosses $500 Million Worldwide

  • LRM Online
This past weekend, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 hit North American theaters, taking in a whopping $145 million domestically, a decent mark up from its predecessor’s sub-$100 million opening. As with most big blockbusters these days, the film had opened up in many foreign territories the week prior to its North American release, and as such, was already well on its way to killing it at the box office.

According to Deadline, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 has already passed a huge milestone: taking in $500 million worldwide. This means that almost exactly two weeks into its release, the movie is already fast approaching the $773 million its predecessor made worldwide. At this rate, it seems destined to make its money back (if it hasn’t already) with few problems. Additionally, it seems destined to easily surpass the original film’s performance.

But just how much will the film ultimately make?

Producers Yank Alex Gibney’s ‘No Stone Unturned’ From Tribeca Film Festival

Producers Yank Alex Gibney’s ‘No Stone Unturned’ From Tribeca Film Festival
Producers have withdrawn Alex Gibney’s documentary “No Stone Unturned” from the 2017 Tribeca Film Festival, just days before the film was set to have it world premiere as part of the fest.

Both Tribeca organizers and the film’s producers point to outstanding legal issues that surround the film, which focuses on the unsolved murders of six men who died in a pub shooting in Northern Ireland during the 1994 World Cup. “We are bitterly disappointed that as a result of ongoing legal issues relating to the subject matter of the film, ‘No Stone Unturned’ is not yet ready to be screened,” said Trevor Birney of production company Fine Point Films in a statement.

It’s not the first time a Tribeca documentary has bowed out at the last minute in recent years. Last year the controversial anti-vaccination film “Vaxxed:
