Kyle MacLachlan Is Having a Full-Circle 'Twin Peaks' Moment After 'Unreal' Golden Globe Nomination (Exclusive)

Kyle MacLachlan Is Having a Full-Circle 'Twin Peaks' Moment After 'Unreal' Golden Globe Nomination (Exclusive)
Kyle MacLachlanis having a full-circle moment.

The 58-year-old actor received his second Golden Globe nomination for his reprisal of Agent Dale Cooper in Showtime’s Twin Peaks revival, nearly three decades after winning the award for the character in 1991.

“It is a little unreal,” MacLachlan told Et on Monday morning after the nominations were announced. “It really points to the power of Cooper and how he resonates with so many people. Also, the fact that [creators] David Lynch and Mark Frost were able to write something so compelling -- not necessarily a nostalgic revisit of something we had seen before -- but an entirely new story with the same characters, that they were able to make it as extraordinary as they are.”

In the 18-part series, also known as Twin Peaks: The Return, MacLachlan found himself portraying three vastly different characters (the evil Mr. C, Dale Cooper and Dougie Jones), providing him the unique and rare opportunity

Black Mirror Season 4 Review

Like dipping your hand into a bag of liquorice allsorts, every episode of Black Mirror is a different shape, a different texture, a different flavor, but each installment reflects a central anxiety: how might technology trap us rather than set us free? To answer this, Black Mirror cleverly favors subtlety over bombast, almost always preferring to explore this question via small-scale drama as opposed to overblown sci-fi space opera. Even with Netflix money flowing through the kitty, writer and producer Charlie Brooker arrows in on individual people and their particular anxieties rather than getting carried away with techno-melodrama.

By virtue of being an anthology, half the fun is debating your favorite episode. For instance, the Emmy-award-winning “San Junipero” is the critical darling of season 3 but I much prefer “Shut up and Dance” from that series, a savage game of cat and mouse between a wide-eyed teen and a hacking cartel.

Tarantino's R-Rated "Star Trek"

"Star Trek" actor Patrick Stewart is eager to reprise his role as Jean-Luc Picard for writer/director Quentin Tarantino's R-rated "Star Trek" movie, that is headed to the Paramount 'writers room' to be developed for Tarantino to direct:

"...one of my dreams is to work with Tarantino," said Stewart. "I admire his work so much, and to be in a Tarantino film would give me so much satisfaction. So, if he is going to direct something to do with 'Star Tre' and there was the possibility of dear old 'Jean-Luc' showing up again and doing that for Mr Tarantino, I would embrace it."

Tarantino is keen on 'time travel' stories including writer Harlan Ellison's "Star Trek" TV episode "City on the Edge of Forever", as well as the "Star Trek The Next Generation" episode "Yesterday's Enterprise" (1990), considering it to be the best of all the "Star Trek" stories set in the 24th century.

There's a Familiar Face in This Upcoming Black Mirror Episode

Image Source: Netflix Black Mirror will debut its fourth season shortly on Netflix, and one of the episodes already generating a lot of buzz is "USS Callister." The sci-fi episode pays homage to (or perhaps straight-up parodies) the original Star Trek TV series. Jesse Plemons (Fargo, Friday Night Lights) stars as Captain Daly, doing a solid tribute to William Shatner without going over the top. Daly's right-hand man is Walton, whom TV fans will definitely recognize from a variety of shows. Walton is played by Jimmi Simpson, whose most recent noteworthy credit is Westworld. In case you haven't watched the first season, we won't spoil his storyline for you, but generally he's a first-time visitor to Westworld who gets sucked into the deeper meaning of the park's story. Image Source: HBO Before Westworld, Simpson could be seen as computer hacker Gavin Orsay on Netflix's House of Cards and on A&E's short-lived Prison Break pseudo-spinoff,

William Shatner Ends Twitter Feud With Star Trek: Discovery's Jason Isaacs

William Shatner Ends Twitter Feud With Star Trek: Discovery's Jason Isaacs
The Starfleet was reunited after two days of dissonance. After causing a Twitter commotion earlier this week, William Shatner, famous for playing Captain James T. Kirk in the original Star Trek television series and following films, has finally unblocked British actor and Star Trek: Discovery newbie Jason Isaacs, who plays Captain Lorca, on Twitter after two days. The exact reason for Shatner's icy action is unknown, though it may have had something to do with a Metro article titled "Jason Isaacs hopes William Shatner won't appear in Star Trek," which went live on the U.K. website on Nov. 14. In the article, Isaacs says that while many are clamoring to get...

William Shatner Ends Chilly Twitter Standoff With Fellow ‘Star Trek’ Captain Jason Isaacs

Shatner, who famously portrayed Captain James T. Kirk on the original “Star Trek” series, has made nice with Jason Isaacs, who plays Captain Gabriel Lorca on the series “Star Trek: Discovery.” Or at least he’s decided to unblock Isaacs on Twitter. Isaacs announced that he had been blocked by Shatner on Sunday in a question-filled tweet. George Takei saga sheds light on the murky world of pay-to-promote news

Media companies ended their ‘paid promotion partnerships’ with Takei after a claim of sexual assault. But what are these celebrity deals, and are they ethical?

News that several online media companies including Mic, Slate and Refinery29 have severed commercial ties with Star Trek actor George Takei following allegations of sexual assault has shone a light on the little-understood practice of online news sites paying celebrities to post links to their content.

Millennial-focused website Mic reported that it and five other media sites had “ended paid promotion partnerships that once had their articles and videos shared on Takei’s social media platforms” in the wake of an accusation that Takei sexually assaulted a young actor in 1981. Takei denies the claim.

George Takei Apologizes For Sexual Assault Comment on Howard Stern, Says He Was Playing A ‘Naughty Gay Grandpa’
George Takei has issued an official statement on his Facebook page apologizing for comments he made about sexual assault during an October interview with Howard Stern. During the taping of Stern’s SiriusXM radio show, Takei was asked whether or not he had ever grabbed a man’s genitals against his will, to which he said “uh oh” and laughed. When Stern and co-host Robin Quivers suggested that Takei “persuaded” men to let him touch them and asked if these encounters occurred at work, Takei responded, “It was either in my home. They came to my home.”
