Love Actually Sucks, Actually, and You All Know It

  • BuzzSugar
"Solid gold sh*t!" - Love Actually describing Love Actually I know many of you are probably seething just reading the headline. But the fact is you're here now. Something deep inside of you knows I'm right. Let's get a few things out of the way: I'm a devout Christmas enthusiast. I openly celebrate the reason for the season, I'm known to sport inappropriate Christmas sweaters (at Disneyland, no less), I start my Christmas music listening extravaganza in late October, and I'm a mulled wine fanatic. You need to know that I do have merriment in my heart; I'm not some Grinch who hates the holiday spirit. Furthermore, I am obsessed with British people and will forever feel inadequate for not having an adorably chic English accent. But Love Actually is a flaming turd among sparkly baubles within the holiday film genre. These yuletide films tend to have a specific formula,

Will Disney’s Hyperdrive ‘Star Wars’ Release Slate Put the Franchise at Risk?

Will Disney’s Hyperdrive ‘Star Wars’ Release Slate Put the Franchise at Risk?
Star Wars: The Last Jedi,” which premieres this weekend, is the third Lucasfilm title to hit theaters in the span of two years. It emerges as an important test of whether the studio’s aggressive release schedule will diminish the specialness for which the storied franchise has long been known.

Until 2015’s “The Force Awakens,” “Star Wars” movies arrived infrequently and were treated as major cultural events. Kids skipped school and braved long lines to fill multiplexes. The films were spaced three years apart, building anticipation in between pictures. Even the poorly reviewed prequel trilogy, starting with “The Phantom Menace” in 1999, had three-year gaps; “Phantom Menace” came 16 years after 1983’s “Return of the Jedi.” “The Force Awakens” bowed 10 years after “Revenge of the Sith,” the last of the prequels.

Now, Disney plans to release a new “Star Wars” film every year through at least 2019. “The Last Jedi” will be followed next May by “Solo: A Star Wars Story,” the

Disney and Fox Deal Expected to Be Announced This Thursday

A lot of people are not excited about the merger and worry about how it could negatively impact the movie industry, but there's not much anyone can do to stop the merger from happening now. Fox's stock price has risen 1% and Disney's has gone up a fraction this week since Comcast bailed out on Monday.

CNBC reportedly has a source very close to the merger deal and they claim that the deal is on the "glide path," and that if everything goes according to plan, the deal will be finalized this Thursday with a press announcement,

From ‘Star Wars’ to ‘Game of Thrones,’ Film and TV Music in a Live Setting Is Thriving

From ‘Star Wars’ to ‘Game of Thrones,’ Film and TV Music in a Live Setting Is Thriving
Just a few years ago, “film music in concert” translated to short suites by big-name movie composers (Henry Mancini, John Williams) performed at summer pops concerts. Today, established American orchestras that once didn’t look at the merging of screen and music seriously, take heed of live-to-picture performances as very big business, with concert halls packing in audiences around the world.

That’s something of a surprise, considering how most classical musicians had traditionally looked down their collective noses at movie music. “Film music was a pejorative, and that was the end of it,” David Newman says. Now they see the attendance figures, and attitudes have changed considerably.

Indeed, just a month ago, the New York Philharmonic completed a three-week, four-film “Star Wars” series with Newman conducting John Williams’ scores for the original trilogy plus “The Force Awakens” to sold-out crowds at New York’s David Geffen Hall. “The orchestra absolutely killed it,” says Newman.

Life Isn't Good, It's Excellent

David Robilliard was a poet and painter who lived from 1952 to 1988.

Eating Out You're like a potato. You'd go with anything.

"David Robilliard was the sweetest, kindest, most infuriating, artistic foul-mouthed, witty, charming, handsome, thoughtful, unhappy, loving and friendly person we ever met.

Over the nine years of our friendship David came closer to us than any other person. He will live forever in our hearts and minds." Gilbert and George wrote the above on July 7, 1990. "Starting with pockets filled with disorganised writings and sketches, he went on to produce highly original poetry, drawings and paintings. His truthfulness, sadness desperation and love of people gave his work a brilliance and beauty that stands out a mile."
