Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom will set up the plot of the next Jurassic World movie

It looks like we won’t have to wait very long for plot clues to the inevitable third installment in the Jurassic World franchise. In an interview with YouTuber Sebas Tabany, Colin Trevorrow — director of Jurassic World and writer/producer of the upcoming Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom — stresses the importance of having a plan, and giving fans a glimpse at what’s next for the franchise:

“I knew where I wanted it to go. I remember telling Steven Spielberg even while we were making the first movie, ‘This is the beginning. Here is the middle. And here’s the end of the end. And this is where we want to go.’ I feel like that kind of design is crucial to a franchise like this if you really want to bring people along with you and make sure they stay interested. It needs to be thought through on that level.

Tom Beasley: I struggled a little with this trailer, despite my love for all of the actors involved and for J.A. Bayona as a director. It certainly delivers in terms of visual spectacle, but the plot seems a little lazy and I’m not sure there’s enough there to mark this movie out as different to what has come before. But, on the other hand, we’re getting new dinosaur fights and I’m not one

First Trailer for ‘Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom’ Pits Dinos vs. the Volcano

They may have been extinct for 66 million years, but Jurassic World proved dinosaurs have never been more popular. Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom Trailer Is Finally Here

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom Trailer Is Finally Here
Life finds a way in the first trailer for Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom. In 2015, Jurassic World managed to totally reinvigorate the Jurassic Park franchise, which had been dormant since 2001's Jurassic Park III. The hope was to kick off a new trilogy of movies and, given the success, director Colin Trevorrow managed to do just that. Now we have our first real look at the highly-anticipated sequel, which looks like it could be something quite unique within the framework of the enduring series. Here is the official synopsis.

"It's been four years since theme park and luxury resort Jurassic World was destroyed by dinosaurs out of containment. Isla Nublar now sits abandoned by humans while the surviving dinosaurs fend for themselves in the jungles. When the island's dormant volcano begins roaring to life, Owen (Chris Pratt) and Claire (Bryce Dallas Howard) mount a campaign to rescue the remaining dinosaurs from this extinction-level event.

Jeff Goldblum returns in Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom featurette

Ahead of tomorrow’s first trailer for J.A. Bayona’s Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, Universal have released a behind-the-scenes video which features something altogether more exciting than dinosaurs and Chris Pratt running away from an erupting volcano; the return of Jeff Goldblum as Dr. Ian Malcolm, he of “oooh, ahh, that’s how it always starts, but then later there’s running and, and screaming” fame.

Featuring talking heads from producer Colin Trevorrow, Chris Pratt, and the infectiously enthusiastic Bryce Dallas Howard, as well as plenty of glimpses at new footage, the most intriguing aspect is Bayona’s comments about making Fallen Kingdom a more intense experience for the dino-loving audience. Wouldn’t it be nice to be frightened by dinosaurs, like it was 1993 and a thunderstorm all-over-again?
