First Trailer for True Crime Podcasters Indie Comedy 'Women Who Kill'

"Hottest female serial killer ever? That's a tough call." FilmRise has debuted an official trailer for an indie comedy titled Women Who Kill, which first premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival last year. The film is inspired by podcasts like "Serial" and tells the story of two women who run a podcast about serial killers called "Women Who Kill". Writer/director Ingrid Jungermann stars as Morgan, and Ann Carr plays her co-host Jean. They used to be in a relationship but not anymore. When Morgan meets a new girl at the local Food Coop, she falls for her but it turns out she may actually be a serial killer. The cast includes Sheila Vand, Annette O'Toole, Deborah Rush, Tami Sagher, Grace Rex, and Shannon Patricia O'Neill. This looks quirky and entertaining in a very Brooklyn way, with some deep Brooklyn humor, but that's cool. Here's the first official trailer (+ poster

Trailer for ‘Women Who Kill’ Introduces a Rom-Com With a Serial Killer Twist

One of our festival favorites of the past year-plus is finally getting a release. “Morbid curiosities make for unusual romantic comedy fodder in Ingrid Jungermann’s perceptive and often very funny Women Who Kill,” we said in our review from last year’s Tribeca Film Festival. Now set for a debut later this month, the first trailer has arrived for the film which follows ex-girlfriends who host a serial killer-obsessive podcast and when a mysterious woman joins the mix, mystery begins.

“The overarching joke of the film is that it’s in the suspense or horror genre — because it’s actually just a queer romantic comedy,” the director tells EW. “I grew up in Florida as a Jehovah’s Witness, so my introduction into romantic relationships included anxiety and guilt and dread and fear. The foundation of the movie is comedy with layers of suspense and horror. And we took the suspense very seriously,

Film Review: ‘Women Who Kill’

Film Review: ‘Women Who Kill’
A shaggy, banter-driven quasi-thriller in the mode of “Manhattan Murder Mystery” (or the “Thin Man” movies, for that matter), “Women Who Kill” offers a drolly amusing, lightly macabre variation on the standard lesbian romantic comedy. Ingrid Jungermann’s feature debut as writer-director-star deploys a lot of improv talent for this Brooklyn-set tale of two ex-lovers who host the titular morbidly-themed podcast, and find their insular social circle suddenly invaded by a possible genuine compulsive murderess. Nimbly sustaining the kind of off-kilter, anecdotal humor Jungermann test-drove in several prior shorts and two web series, “Women Who Kill” seems likely to break out of the gay festival-and-niche-home-release ghetto to score some limited arthouse exposure.

Debating topics such as “Who’s the hottest female serial killer” like NPR commentators discussing favorite recycling methods, Park Slope denizens Morgan (Jungermann) and Jean (Ann Carr) continue to spend nearly all their time together, even though they

Tribeca ‘16: First wave unveils split Narrative competition and record breaking female directors

The first wave of films screening at the 15th Tribeca Film Festival have been announced and this year, the Narrative program has been split into two separate sections: the Us Narrative competition which celebrates the works of American filmmakers and the International Narrative competition which will showcase cinematic works spanning five continents.

With one third of the Festival’s feature films being directed by women – the highest percentage in history – the Festival is becoming renown for its discovery of new and distinct voices.

“In our 15th year we wanted to deepen our support of American narrative filmmakers and have opened our competition to separately showcase the Us and International films,” said Genna Terranova, Festival Director. “We are very impressed by the films this year and inspired to see new voices transcending traditions and taking risks by telling their stories their own way. We are excited to share with audiences how

Ben Stiller Talks The Secret Life of Walter Mitty Deleted Opening Scene
Actor-filmmaker Ben Stiller returns to the director's chair for the first time since 2008's Tropic Thunder with his adaptation of the James Thurber short story The Secret Life of Walter Mitty. The story follows Ben Stiller as the title character, a daydreamer who ends up losing an important photo negative, sending him on a journey to track down the photographer who sent it, played by Sean Penn. The director recently held a Q&A session after a Los Angeles screening, where he revealed details of his original opening sequence that he cut out of the final version.

"We used to have an opening to the movie I ended up cutting. A little montage at the beginning of the movie of Walter's morning routine. And it started out with him on this exercise bike - I like talking about this because I miss it - the first image was the Led

Gay Girl's Goggles – "The Good Wife" SnapCap 3.10: Follow-through

What a strange episode of The Good Wife. I got brain whiplash from trying to connect the random stories. Yet, somehow, it worked — and turned out to be one of the better eps of the season.

Afterellen Bait

Kalinda is made of awesome — and we see her in action this week, even though she doesn't get a lot of screen time. Dana is still trying to play Kalinda to get information. But Kalinda is getting a little tired of Dana's game.

Give me a player with follow-through any time.

We also get a glimpse of how much Kalinda genuinely cares for Alicia, when she overhears that Grace is missing. Kalinda jumps into action, getting a trace on Grace's phone and tracking her down.

On a hunch, she finds Grace at church being baptized. She tells Grace not to let Alicia know who found her, but I'm hoping this is the first step toward reconciliation.

Tonight on The Good Wife: Michael J Fox Returns as Alicia Faces a Personal Crisis (Sneak Peek)

Tonight on The Good Wife: Michael J Fox Returns as Alicia Faces a Personal Crisis (Sneak Peek)

Tonight's episode of The Good Wife not only sees the return of Michael J Fox's antagonist Louis Canning, but also features Dexter star Jennifer Carpenter and a family crisis for Alicia (Julianna Margulies). Throw in the warning that Diane (Christine Baranski) gave Will (Josh Charles) in the last episode and the State Attorney's investigation into Will continuing and it looks like this will be an emotionally charged night.

Oh Grace (Mackenzie Vega), she almost redeemed herself last week with how she responded to Jackie's (Mary Beth Peil) actions towards Alicia, but tonight she will be the center of attention for the wrong reasons. Grace is a character who falls into the annoying teen camp, which the writers seem to be unsure of how to use her as opposed to Zach (Graham Phillips

Tonight on The Good Wife: Episode 3.06 "Affairs of State"

Last week was Lisa Edelstein's final scheduled appearances on The Good Wife; though I would double down on the chance of her returning in the future. This week sees another character introduced who happens to have a romantic link to Eli (Alan Cumming), his ex-wife is in town requiring his service as she is considering a political campaign. Alicia (Julianna Margulies) will be working her first case as a mentor to Caitlin (Anna Camp).

There are two major issues for Alicia with the hiring of Caitlin; firstly she believed that she was getting given a job with certain responsibilities, instead it was one big manipulation to appear like nepotism wasn't a factor in this hiring process. She was berated by her superior in front of a lawyer from another firm (who also happens to be the ex-girlfriend of her current lover) and embarrassed in front of the candidate she

Question: Is there any truth to the rumor that the title of Glee‘s Episode 7, “I Kissed A Girl,” has something to do with Rachel and Quinn? We’re dying to know. —Bobbie

Ausiello: If you’re asking me whether Rachel and Quinn go to first base, the answer is no. The episode focuses on Santana coming out to her family, so I’m guessing the title — and accompanying Katy Perry cover — refer to that.
