Performer of the Week: Connor Jessup

Performer of the Week: Connor Jessup
The Performer | Connor Jessup

The Show | American Crime

The Episode | “Episode Seven” (Feb. 17, 2016)

The Performance | If you were to break down Wednesday’s episode of American Crime by lines of dialogue spoken, you’d likely find Jessup’s name somewhere near the bottom of that list.

Although most of the hour focused on Jessup’s Taylor Blaine, the actor didn’t actually say much during the harrowing events that occurred — and that’s why we were particularly gobsmacked by his performance in Episode 7.

Ever since Taylor tearfully confessed to his mom — way back in the season premiere — that the Leland

Film Review: Sofia Coppola Captures Cult of Celebrity in ‘The Bling Ring’

Chicago – We live a celebrity-driven culture that not only easily dismisses when its celebutantes get DUIs but practically sees the occasion as a rite of passage. We follow gossip websites to the degree that we know the schedules of people who are famous just for being famous better than we know our family’s. And these celebrities are feted with gifts to the degree that they wouldn’t notice if most of their possessions went missing. Sofia Coppola’s incredibly entertaining “The Bling Ring” dares to subtly make the case that the kids who very casually decided to begin robbing TMZ’s most-beloved in the Hollywood Hills grew from this modern world of misplaced priorities. Her film walks that fine line where some will criticize it for excusing their behavior while others will think it mocks them too openly. Both miss the point. The brilliance of “The Bling Ring” is

Sofia Coppola’s The Bling Ring was announced as part of the Cannes Film Festival line-up last week, meaning that it will be making its world premiere in just a few weeks’ time.

The film sees Emma Watson return to the big screen after her first post-Harry Potter leading role last year in The Perks of Being a Wallflower. And, naturally, we’re all looking forward to seeing her in a character entirely different to what we’ve often seen her play.

Emma Watson's Nikki steals from Paris Hilton in 'Bling Ring' trailer
A new trailer for Emma Watson's new movie The Bling Ring has been released.

Watson stars in the Sofia Coppola-directed movie as Nikki, a member of a teenage burglary ring which successfully broke into the homes of numerous celebrities in the Hollywood Hills.

Nikki and her associates are seen raiding Paris Hilton's home in the new trailer, going through the socialite's walk-in wardrobe and stealing her shoes and clothes.

Watson recently branded Nikki as "superficial, materialistic, vain [and] amoral", but said that she relished the challenge of playing a character that she disliked so much.

Israel Broussard, Katie Chang, Leslie Mann, Claire Julien, Georgia Rock and Carlos Miranda also star in The Bling Ring, which will screen out of competition as the opening film in the Cannes Film Festival's 'Un Certain Regard' strand.

First Teaser Poster for Sofia Coppola’s The Bling Ring with Emma Watson

  • HeyUGuys
Having returned to the big screen last year in her first leading performance since the conclusion of the Harry Potter franchise, Emma Watson is back once more this year in Sofia Coppola’s anticipated The Bling Ring.

We were treated to a rather brilliant first teaser trailer last month, which opted to go largely without any dialogue, and still managed to give a great sense of what we have to look forward to. And with its release date very much on the horizon, the first teaser poster has debuted online.

Inspired by actual events, a group of fame-obsessed teenagers, Rebecca, Marc, Nicki, Sam and Chloe, known as the Bling Ring, use the Internet to track celebrities’ whereabouts in order to rob their homes. Victims included Paris Hilton, Lindsay Lohan, Audrina Patridge, and Orlando Bloom.

Watson stars alongside a great cast, led by Taissa Farmiga, Katie Chang, Israel Broussard, Claire Pfister,

The first poster for The Bling Ring has been released.

Emma Watson stars as one of a group of fame-obsessed teenagers, who rob celebrities' Los Angeles homes by using the internet to determine when they are out.

Directed by Sofia Coppola, the drama is based on real events which took place between 2008 and 2009, and saw celebrities including Orlando Bloom, Paris Hilton and Megan Fox fall victim to the 'Bling Ring'.

Watson recently admitted that she hates her character Nicki, but found the experience of playing somebody so reprehensible "really interesting".

A set of new images and a brief clip were released earlier this month, showing Watson alongside fellow cast members Katie Chang, Israel Broussard, Taissa Farmiga, Claire Julien, Carlos Miranda and Leslie Mann.

The Bling Ring will be released on June 14 in the Us and July 5 in the UK. Watch a trailer below:

Emma Watson: 'I hate my character in The Bling Ring'

Emma Watson: 'I hate my character in The Bling Ring'
Emma Watson has discussed her role in the movie The Bling Ring.

The actress plays Nicki, a pole-dancing, thieving 'Valley Vixen' involved in a circle that steals from famous people.

She said to GQ: "When I read the script and I realised that essentially it was a meditation on fame and what it's become to our society, I had to do it.

"The character is everything that I felt strongly against - she's superficial, materialistic, vain, amoral. She's all of these things and I realised that I hated her. How do you play someone you hate?

"But I found it really interesting and it gave me a whole new insight into what my job, or my role as an actress, could be."

The film is directed by Sofia Coppola and involves a circle of teenage girls played by Israel Broussard, Katie Chang, Claire Pfister, Georgia Rock and Carlos Miranda.

First Teaser Trailer for Sofia Coppola’s The Bling Ring with Emma Watson

  • HeyUGuys
Sofia Coppola’s The Bling Ring is undoubtedly a must-see movie this year, for so many reasons. It will see the Oscar-winning Coppola return behind the camera for the first time since 2010’s Somewhere. It’s led by the brilliant young Emma Watson, who has been making a great name for herself already in her post-Harry Potter career.

And, of course, it’s called The Bling Ring. With a title like that, and a cadre of filmmakers like it has, it’s unmissable cinema.

With its June release date now very much on the horizon, the first teaser trailer has debuted, giving us a great little look at the film. I think the thing that I love most about it is that it features almost no dialogue, and still helps us know just what to expect.

Inspired by actual events, a group of fame-obsessed teenagers, Rebecca, Marc, Nicki, Sam and Chloe,

Watch: Teaser Trailer For Sofia Coppola's 'The Bling Ring' Starring Emma Watson Goes Shopping

  • The Playlist
It looks like young people doing very bad things is going to be recurring theme this year. And the folks at A24 are more than happy to bring it you. Later this month, Harmony Korine and his group of young starlets tear up Florida in "Spring Breakers." Then this summer, Emma Watson joins another group of no good kids to steal and rob in "The Bling Ring" but there's one difference -- this is based on actual events. The first teaser for Sofia Coppola's film is here, and it's a stylistic left turn for the filmmaker. Known for her moodier efforts like "The Virgin Suicides," "Lost In Translation" and "Somewhere," this is pumped up by pushed-to-the-red sounds of "Crown On The Ground" by Sleigh Bells, and with a much more energetic, ripped-from-the-headlines vibe and in-the-moment feel (thanks to the surveillance style footage). Israel Broussard, Katie Chang, Claire Pfister, Georgia Rock
