How ‘Search Party’ Gets Darker, Funnier in Season 2 (Exclusive)

How ‘Search Party’ Gets Darker, Funnier in Season 2 (Exclusive)
Shows about the misadventures of twentysomethings are a television staple, but the TBS breakout Search Party -- with its sly combination of suspenseful thrills and tons of character-driven laughs -- is in a class all its own.

Alia Shawkat, whose rising profile includes work on Arrested Development and Transparent, plays Dory, the face of this ragtag search party. Dory’s restlessness to do something meaningful with her life leads her to look for former schoolmate Chantal Witherbottom after happening on a missing person sign at the series outset. She winds up dragging her reluctant friends into the search: her soon-to-be ex-boyfriend Drew (Stranger ThingsJohn Reynolds), her aggressively vapid-seeming besties Portia (Meredith Hagner, of Younger and Strangers on Facebook Watch) and Elliott (John Early, of the Wet Hot American Summer Netflix series and High Maintenance), and her ex-boyfriend-turned-journalist Julian (Brandon Micheal Hall, who also stars on The Mayor).

By the season one finale, the four friends

Peek Inside the ‘Search Party’ Office
The offices of “Search Party” creators Sarah-Violet Bliss, Charles Rogers and Michael Showalter are very much like the show itself: a quirky, hipster experience that will leave you rolling with laughter. In addition to memorabilia from the Netflix series “Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp,” for which Showalter recruited Bliss and Rogers, based on his experience teaching them at Nyu, the office is adorned with an eclectic mix of furniture, doodles, phony Ritz cracker slogans, and over-the-counter antacids.

“I would say I’m definitely addicted to Zantac,” Bliss jokes. “That’s my drug of choice.”

Head Cases

In between the two white boards the team uses to plan out “Search Party,” members have filled the empty space with a wide range of drawings in addition to two cutouts of the heads of actresses Parker Posey and Elaine Stritch. “You spend hours and hours and hours in the room every day for months, and

Taylor Swift "Bad Blood" Parody "Sad Studs" Has Man Candy and Brings Up an Important Social Issue—Watch!

Taylor Swift
These "sad studs" definitely have some bad blood with the Fda!  Comedians Jake Wilson and Jeffery Self took it upon themselves to put a fresh spin on Taylor Swift and Kendrick Lamar's pop hit "Bad Blood," all while calling out a very important inequality facing the gay community. The "Sad Studs" parody takes aim at the Fda policy that prohibits gay and bisexual men from donating blood unless they've been abstinent for at least a year, a restriction proving extremely problematic to those who want to contribute to such a life saving cause.  In the video, which is equally hilarious as it is a vital conversation starter, a group of sexy studs (just like Taylor's badass girl...

Bring Back The Inspired Lunacy of 'Jeffery and Cole Casserole'

Bring Back The Inspired Lunacy of 'Jeffery and Cole Casserole'
A few years before shows like "Broad City" and "High Maintenance" made the leap from low-fi digital web comedies to beloved cable television shows was the extremely weird, funny, trippy, absurd sketch comedy show "Jeffery & Cole Casserole." "Jeffery and Cole Casserole" was filmed in a dumpy apartment, on a web cam, edited on iMovie, and looks exactly like that description. However, the show captured something incredibly unique and weird and special. Following best friends, Jeffery and Cole, we saw the world through their insane eyes; which included a lot of wigs and yellow legal pads. The show’s creators, Jeffery Self and Cole Escola, were two twenty one years old making popular YouTube videos in 2008 and a year later "Jeffery & Cole Casserole" premiered on the Logo Network. There’s little reason you would have heard about or seen the show, as it aired (completely unadvertised) on Fridays at midnight after.

My Sexual Awakening Came From Watching an Osmond Reenact the Bible

My Sexual Awakening Came From Watching an Osmond Reenact the Bible Any (Wet) Dream Will Do. by Jeffery Self First Encounters is a series in which writers explore the media that inspired their first brush with their sexuality. Whether it was a book, a cartoon character, a film, or a painting, we all have one cultural artifact from our adolescence that informs how we think about our bodies and desires for the rest of our lives. Have a First Encounter you'd like to share? Send your story to submissions@nerve.com. There aren't many women in Joseph And The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. Unless, of course, your high school or community theater production couldn't round up enough men for the cast. In that case, you probably threw in a girl or two with her hair under a turban as Benjamin or Sebastian or, in truly dire situations, [...]

Briefs: “Z Nation” Will Be Shambling Our Way, Matt Bomer Inspires, and What is “The Tenth?”

Birthday shoutouts go to Kevin Alejandro (above), who is 38, Russell Crowe is 50, John Oates is 65, and Jackie Chan is 60.

Our thoughts are with the family and generations of fans of screen legend Mickey Rooney, who died today at the age of 93. He’ll always be the one true Fallout Boy to me.

In more sad news, model and ally Peaches Geldof has died at the age of 25.

Supreme Court won’t hear anti-gay photographer case. Nom heads just exploded.

I Was Broken, and Matt Bomer Put Me Back Together. Is there anything he can’t do?

As I’m sure you’ll agree, The Asylum is one of the great production companies in Hollywood. They’re responsible for most of the iconic Syfy Channel movies, including Sharknado, Almighty Thor, Nazis At The Center Of The Earth, American Warships, Atlantic Rim, Titanic II, and of course, Mega Python vs. Gatoroid (to name just a few.
