‘House of Cards,’ ‘Transparent,’ ‘Today Show’ and More: A Complete Guide To TV Rocked By Sexual Harassment Scandals

Hollywood’s sexual harassment scandals have had an immediate effect on the industry — and on TV viewers as well. As networks and studios are confronted with allegations of misconduct and assault by their stars, producers, and even executives, heightened publicity has also prevented them from sweeping such news under the rug.

Instead, from morning to primetime, broadcast, cable and streaming services have been faced with making big moves on some of their biggest properties. In the $1 billion morning show competition, both NBC’s “Today” and CBS’ “This Morning” fired key anchors. Netflix’s and Amazon’s signature, award-winning dramas are expected to return without their lead stars. Paramount Network planned to launch by leveraging the Weinstein brand — but that strategy is dead. And FX must now rebuild its comedy brand without the producer who inspired much of it.

The Year of the Woman: 5 Ways Female Filmmakers, Actresses, and Advocates Forever Changed Hollywood in 2017

The Year of the Woman: 5 Ways Female Filmmakers, Actresses, and Advocates Forever Changed Hollywood in 2017
Girl Talk is a weekly look at women in film — past, present, and future. This week, we look back on a monumental year, for better or worse.

Ask enough women in Hollywood about being a woman in Hollywood, and eventually a theme emerges: conversation is great, and the acknowledgement of the skewed numbers and lack of equality is essential. It’s a discussion that needs to happen, but won’t it be great when we can stop just talking and put words into action?

It’s a two-pronged dream — that conversation will move past chatter and produce real results, and that those results will create a world where inequality becomes a thing of the past.

But talking has a way of being one-sided and, as it turns out, there needed to be one more step in between the chatter and actually moving things forward. That finally happened in 2017, the year people stopped talking,

Lapd Chief Charlie Beck spoke to the Los Angeles Times via email and revealed that five teams of two special assignment detectives are investigating various allegations. Among those are producer Harvey Weinstein, actor Ed Westwick, Girls writer Murray Miller, and agent Tyler Grasham, among others. All of the accused have denied

Jessica Szohr is speaking up in defense of her Gossip Girl co-star and ex-boyfriend, Ed Westwick. The 30-year-old actor is facing several allegations of rape, which he has categorically denied.

Westwick previously told fans on social media that he is “cooperating with the authorities” in order to clear his name quickly. In a new interview with Cosmopolitan, Szohr, 32, addressed the controversial topic of the allegations against her ex.

“I have known Ed for years and know how lovely he is, and don’t think he would ever put someone in a position like that,” Szohr began, noting that the topic was “tricky” and that she didn’t want her words to be “twisted.”

Adding that she doesn’t want to speak for Westwick or his accusers, Szohr added, “It’s just, it’s a touchy, tough thing that you pray it’s not true and that with, outside of even him, all these different

‘Law & Order: Special Victims Unit’ Will Feature a Harvey Weinstein-Like Figure Who Preys on Flight Attendants
Many social media users have cited the 19-season run of “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit” as a reminder that sex crimes have long pre-dated Harvey Weinstein. To the surprise of no one, the disgraced former studio head — whose dozens of accusers recently inspired countless others to speak out against powerful men they’ve encountered in the workplace — will inspire a 2018 episode of the Dick Wolf-created NBC procedural.

The show’s executive producer, Michael Chernuchin, told Entertainment Weekly that “we are hitting Harvey Weinstein head-on” with a fictionalized account of predators who work in the airline industry.

While readying a previously-planned script about “airline pilots and what a boys club that is,” Chernuchin said he and his writers realized, “‘Wow, this is exactly what the actresses go through in Hollywood. It’s the same environment.’ So we got all of our Harvey stuff out with airline pilots.”

John Lasseter’s Legacy: Why the Tarnished CG Animation Pioneer May Be Irreplaceable For Disney and Pixar
At last week’s “Coco” premiere at the El Capitan in Hollywood, John Lasseter had a look of sadness in his eyes. The usual gregarious charm didn’t come as easily. Maybe he was tired: he’d been running both Pixar and Disney Animation as chief creative officer for the last 11 years.

That was the explanation when Lasseter first stepped down as director of “Toy Story 4” earlier this year. Then came Tuesday’s shocking revelation of alleged unwanted advances, forcing the animation mogul — who was known for his warm hugs — to take a six-month leave of absence from the studios, apologizing for “missteps” in a memo to his Disney/Pixar staff.

Lasseter, by far the most powerful and influential figure in contemporary animation, joins a growing list of big-name players in Hollywood, the media, and politics accused of sexual misconduct (including Harvey Weinstein, Kevin Spacey, and Charlie Rose). This
