The next battle between the Lycans and Vampires is coming home, as Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has announced an April 25th 4K, Blu-ray, and DVD release (following an April 11th digital release) of Underworld: Blood Wars.

It’s been some five years since the last entry into the Underworld franchise – Underworld: Awakening, the third sequel to the 2003 original – no doubt because that film almost, Almost killed the series…. However as the saying goes, time heals and in the case of these movies that seems to be true. Not only has it been long enough for audiences to forget the risible fourth film, but the break in production also seems to have revitalised the filmmakers too – and this time round we have a film that truly lives up to the “vampires vs. werewolves” premise proffered so many years ago.

“She’s always been really passionate, but now, in a way, she doesn’t really give a shit,” Beckinsale tells the magazine. “In Blood Wars, Selene is at a really low ebb. You see a different side to her. [Her one-time mentor] Viktor has emerged as a traitor. [Her lover] Michael has disappeared. She’s had a baby that she didn’t know about.”

“With Underworld you have rules that are very specific to the franchise, but you can veer off from that,” adds director Anna Foerster. “What I bring to this movie is a defined visual concept and some cool surprises. I think fans will see a new side to Selene.”

Courtney Love Joins Lifetime’s Shakespeare Anthology ‘A Midsummer’s Nightmare’
Courtney Love has been cast in Lifetime’s Shakespeare psychological thriller “A Midsummer’s Nightmare,” Variety has learned.

The hourlong pilot, which hails from A+E Studios, began production earlier this week in Vancouver.

The first season of the anthology series takes on Shakespeare’s “A Midsummer Night’s Dream,” giving it a modern-day spin. The potential series introduces four young lovers who steal off into the woods in pursuit of their romantic desires, but their plans are quickly thwarted when terrifying forces target the stranded group, using their own fantasies and darkest secrets against them. Love plays a mysterious woman in the woods who is part of the sinister forces that turn the lovers’ dream getaway into a nightmare.

No details on Love’s role have been released, other than it being a key part. Her recent acting credits have included “Sons of Anarchy” and “Empire.”
