Snowfall, debuting this Wednesday at 10/9c, comes from co-creator/executive producer John Singleton, who immortalized the streets of South Central L.A. with his iconic ’90s film Boyz N the Hood. Here, he takes us to his old stomping ground a decade earlier, in the summer of 1983, when small-time weed dealer Franklin (Damson Idris) gets his first tantalizing taste of the cocaine trade.
Singleton's new FX show Snowfall (which debuts on July 5th) follows Franklin Saint (Damson Idris), an ambitious L.
There’s nothing inherently bad about FX’s new drug drama Snowfall. As an opening sentence to a review, that’s not exactly a good omen, but such middling thoughts couldn’t help but bubble to the surface in the three hours I spent watching the original cocaine empire blossom haphazardly out of the sun-soaked streets of south central Los Angeles. It’s got a good lead, a solid premise, and legitimately gorgeous cinematography that lovingly lingers on the palm tree-lined streets of 1983 La like they’re a fresco in the Sistine Chapel.
No, there’s nothing really bad about Snowfall. It’s just that the network it calls home has raised the bar to such a degree that a show turning out just “good” feels disappointing in comparison. Snowfall has a decent narrative, but it lacks daring; there are a few interesting characters,
The star-studded world premiere of the upcoming summer action-comedy Baywatch was held in Miami on May 13th on the beach. The spectacular event was attended by the cast including Priyanka Chopra who stars in her first Hollywood motion picture. First, we have a cool video of Priyanka talking about the film!
"We are far dirtier than the show ever was, obviously the show was a family show on at family time of day, but in the movie we could have been dirtier. I think people are going to be shocked that Baywatch has got dirty, but there are a lot of laughs. We worked hard to make sure the flesh quota was high, there's more gratuitous boobs,
Paramount Pictures International debuted these new trailers, which offer a few playful jabs at the massively popular TV series this Baywatch remake is based on. One scene features Dwayne Johnson's Mitch Buchannon having lunch with his fellow lifeguards, where they're discussing everything that has happened once Victoia Leeds took over as the new owner of the Huntley Club. Zac Efron's Matt Brody adds that these sort of investigations are far
FM: You have been an actor in Los Angeles for a while now, was it always your dream to be an actor? How did acting come about for you?
It really was. I have always been happy when I am acting. I do have other interests, but nothing has made me feel more alive, more excited than acting. I love portraying a character. I love having the ability to affect and influence the audience’s emotions and state of mind (If your production is good enough). Acting came about through high school. I took an elective drama class and was hooked. I never had so much fun at doing anything before.
FM: I understand you were born in Chicago. How
Dwayne Johnson's Twitter video teases that the "ocean's most powerful force will emerge," transitioning to a shot of The Rock carrying a lifeless body out of the water. Zac Efron's teaser video shows footage of his character Matt Brody, who is seen jumping off his motorcycle directly into the ocean to save a victim, along with another funnier moment where
The first of two photos, which Paramount debuted on the movie's Twitter account, feature Dwayne Johnson wearing a cape, flanked by Kelly Rohrbach dressed as an angel, and Alexandra Daddario as the devil. The second photo features Zac Efron apparently dressed as Olympic swimmer Michael Phelps, since he's holding Halloween buckets filled with gold medals, as both Jon Bass and Ilfenesh Hadera are dressed as cats. The third photo features
