Some Guy Who Kills People

Stars: Kevin Corrigan, Karen Black, Barry Bostwick, Lucy Davis, Ariel Gade | Written by Ryan A. Levin | Directed by Jack Perez

Movie fans are very thankfully for the internet, they may deny it at times but through it they have discovered films they never would have heard of and discovered the world of the independent movie. These films tend to gain attention through word of mouth, or words on screen and play festivals to try and get fans interest. Sometimes they are helped by bigger names in the industry that can get them attention just through a name, but mostly it’s that ability to catch the eye of the fans. Some Guy Who Kills People is a film that caught John Landis’ eye, so much that he became an executive producer, to film geeks that’s almost a golden seal of approval, but it was

'Some Guy Who Kills People' Movie Review

Some Guy Who Kills People certainly lives up to its title, but it sure is more than just that. This film is to quite simply put it, fantastic! I enjoyed this film a lot; it is a clever blend of horror, comedy and family drama.

I had no idea what to expect from this one, I dove in blind and I came out with a huge smile on my face.

The story here is about Ken (a fantastic Kevin Corrigan), he’s a loner fresh out of the loony bin trying to get his life on track. We get the idea he ended up there from a horrific event caused by a group of guys, and thus it has left him very scarred in more ways than one. As Ken apparently runs into one of those

'Some Guy Who Kills People' Wins The Truth In Advertising Award

Some Guy Who Kills People carries the name of the legendary John Landis above its title as an executive producer. The title alone harkens back to that specific brand of Landis horror, the film that contains as many grins as it does gore (think about one of his best films, An American Werewolf in London, and how it is just as funny as it is frightening). Some Guy is not on par with those Landis classics, but it is an interesting take on the genre and a nice showcase for its lead actor, Kevin Corrigan.

Corrigan has had small parts and supporting roles in a variety of projects, ranging from The Departed to Pineapple Express. Yet Some Guy is a showcase for his own skills at blending black humor with heart. Corrigan plays Ken Boyd, an aspiring graphic novel artist who channels his despair and his lack of a life into his art.

DVD Review: Some Guy Who Kills People

  • Cinelinx
Coming up with an original concept for a slasher film these days is an impossibility. So what can a budding filmmaker with an itch for violent deaths and twist endings do to make his project stand out from the rest of the Scream clones? Director Jack Perez decided to meld his gore-fest with a tween coming-of-age story. The result is a rather unique indie-flavored little film entitled Some Guy Who Kills People.

Ken Boyd (Kevin Corrigan) is fresh out of a mental institute. He's trying to put his grim past behind him, but the kids who sent him to the loony bin still enjoy tormenting him. Ken's best friend (Leo Fitzpatrick) gets him a job at the local ice cream shop. He soon begins a relationship with an English girl (Lucy Davis) new to town. At the same time, he finds out he has a daughter (Ariel Gade). Things get

Review: Some Guy Who Kills People (DVD)

Poor Ken. After recently being released from a mental hospital after a suicide attempt, he is living with his mother and employed at a dead end job slinging ice cream. Ken is working a private birthday party, when his past comes back to haunt him after he is confronted by one of his high school bullies. Armed with a dark rage, he fantasizes about killing the guys who put him through hell all those years ago, and it’s not long before those fantasies become a reality.

With Some Guy Who Kills People, we are presented with a refreshing black comedy that has a pretty clever murder mystery tucked neatly inside. Director Jack Perez has a solid grasp on tone and manages to juggle genres quite well, never watering down the comedy for the sake of drama or the horror for the sake of comedy. Unexpectedly, the film has a real heart,

Some Guy Who Kills People and Complexity: A Movie Review

*full disclosure: an online screener of this film was provided by writer Ryan A. Levin. Director: Jack Perez. Writer: Ryan A. Levin. Cast: Kevin Corrigan, Barry Bostwick, Karen Black, Leo Fitzpatrick, Ariel Gade, Eric Price, Lucy Davis, and Lou Beatty Jr. Some Guy Who Kills People is a successful film primarily for combining so many genres. Genres noted by this reviewer included: comedy, horror, revenge thriller, romance and family. It is hard for some filmmakers to nail one genre. Writer Ryan A. Levin, director Jack Perez and the rest of the crew bring six genres to life. There are a lot of layers here. There is also a lot of murder. Part serial killer film, Some Guy Who Kills People is more about the humanness of relationships and the struggles inherently therein. The story follows Kenny (Kevin Corrigan). He has recently been released from a psychiatric ward for depression and suicidal tendencies.

Some Guy Who Kills People Arrives on DVD. Go Buy This Movie Now!

If you’ve paid attention to any of the goings on here at The Liberal Dead, you’ve probably heard at least one of us mention a little film called “Some Guy Who Kills People.” Around the time that review copies of “Tucker And Dale Vs. Evil” were being sent out, I was on facebook praising that film for being one of the best horror/comedy outings to come along in quite some time. A good friend of Tld(Christian Burgess) asked me if I was able to see “Some Guy Who Kills People” yet, to which I of course responded, “no, but please tell me more.” How could I not pursue a movie with such a title? Once I learned that Kevin Corrigan was in the lead role, I was sold. Corrigan I feel, is one of the most underrated actors working today. I was a huge fan of
