Kristen Bell Confirms ‘Veronica Mars’ Limited Series Revival Will Happen

Some people might remember Veronica Mars, which was a mystery drama that was centered around the titular character, who was a student as well as a private investigator. In total, the TV show lasted three seasons on Upn and then The CW, thus resulting in 64 episodes. However, it is interesting to note that there was sufficient interest in Veronica Mars that people started discussing a continuation of some sort as soon as it had been cancelled. For proof, look no further than the fact that the creator Rob Thomas made a serious effort to get a Veronica Mars movie

Kristen Bell says Veronica Mars limited series is “going to happen”

Star of Veronica Mars, Kristen Bell, has said that a limited series for the property is “going to happen.”

The show Veronica Mars has a passionate fan base, and this was instrumental in bringing the series back in the form of a feature film in 2014. The movie was fan funded, amassing a budget of $6 million but didn’t fair too well at the box office.

So while there won’t be a Veronica Mars sequel film anytime soon, Kristen Bell is all on board for a limited series return along with series creator Rob Thomas.

There are numerous scheduling difficulties in the way with Bell working on the series The Good Place and Thomas the showrunner on iZombie, but Bell is optimistic, telling Indiewire:

“We are willing to put the effort in — I mean, if I have to do it as Murder She Wrote at 80, we’re going to do it.

Kristen Bell Wants to Do a 'Veronica Mars' Miniseries: 'It's Going to Happen'
Kristen Bell is in a "good place" right now, but that doesn't mean she's not ready to play Veronica Mars again!

After the Upn/CW series' original run from 2004-07, fans were adamant about bringing the character back to their screens. And they succeeded, crowdsourcing a budget via Kickstarter for a Veronica Mars feature film that was released in 2014. Creator Rob Thomas has also extended the character via a series of mystery books. But could there be even more V. Mars headed our way in the future?

Bell's Veronica Mars co-star Ryan Hansen was asked about the possibility during a Facebook Live interview on Wednesday, and he got the actress herself on the phone to dish about playing the sardonic sleuth once again.

“Rob and I are sort of in constant contact about when we could do it again,” Bell revealed. “There’s a lot of willingness and commitment to doing it again.”

Kristen Bell Just Convinced Us Veronica Mars Is Coming Back For Real: "It's Going to Happen"

  • BuzzSugar
Don't get overexcited (or prematurely angry), but Rob Thomas may be bringing Veronica Mars back. The creator did a Facebook Live session in April 2017, and he mentioned that there probably won't be a sequel to the 2014 movie . . . but he's playing around with the idea of a six-episode miniseries. Now, while Bell has been promoting Bad Moms Christmas, she's doubling down on insisting that it will happen. Her Veronica Mars costar Ryan Hansen got the scoop from Bell during a Facebook Live conversation with IndieWire, telling him, "We are willing to put the effort in. I mean, if I have to do it as Murder, She Wrote at 80, we're going to do it. It's going to happen." You ready? Because I just cleared my schedule for a show that hasn't even started shooting yet.

Creators Of Web Series ‘I Mom So Hard’ Link Up With Producer Rob Thomas For CBS Pilot

Two of the internet's sauciest moms are making a move to bring their shtick to TV. Kristin Hensley and Jen Smedley, the two women behind the web series I Mom So Hard, have landed a pilot production commitment from CBS, which they will fulfill with help from Veronica Mars and Party Down creator Rob Thomas.

I Mom So Hard is a simple and straightforward web series in which Hensley and Smedley sit in front of a camera and chat about the sort of issues that are relevant to mothers such as themselves. Their topics of conversation range from swimsuits to body hair to post-partum depression, but no what they choose to discuss, they approach their subjects with a combination of humor and honesty. These videos have proved popular enough to bring about 58,000 subscribers and more than five million views to the official I Mom So Hard YouTube channel.

TV Adaptation of “I Mom So Hard” Web Series Coming to CBS

“I Mom So Hard’s” Kristin Hensley and Jen Smedley: imomsohard.com

We approve so hard. The Hollywood Reporter writes that Kristin Hensley and Jen Smedley’s popular web series “I Mom So Hard” is on its way to CBS as a multi-cam comedy. The “sizable pilot production commitment” will see series’ creators Hensley and Smedley topline the new show and write it with Michelle Nader (“2 Broke Girls”). Rob Thomas (“Veronica Mars”) is set to executive produce alongside Danielle Stokdyk and Dan Etheridge.

Launched in spring 2016, “I Mom So Hard” features comedians and friends Hensley (“Brooklyn Nine-Nine”) and Smedley (“Literally So Busy”) riffing on their kids, husbands, and the sometimes-absurd minutiae that goes into being a mother who is also a person. The expense of children’s princess costumes, fitting exercise into a packed schedule, and the horrors of the holidays are all topics Hensley and Smedley have covered in bite-sized episodes.

The duo are also taking “I Mom So Hard” on the road. Their “Mom’s Night Out: Summer Break Tour” kicks off October 10 in Kitchener, Ontario.

A female-led comedy is past due at CBS. The network made headlines this spring when it unveiled its sausage party of a fall 2017 lineup and when CEO Les Moonves shrugged off the criticism, saying, “The best pilots went at the end of the day and we think our track record is Ok.”

You can watch “I Mom So Hard” videos on the series’ website or on YouTube. Check out a recent ep, “I Princess So Hard,” below.
