If there’s one thing I can count on from my fellow movie bloggers, it’s their intense disdain for the films of Adam Sandler; in particular those made as part of Sandler’s Netflix deal.

Sandy Wexler Trailer Takes Adam Sandler Back to the 90s
Adam Sandler is back yet again with another Netflix original movie. Sandy Wexler is the third of four comedies that were part of his exclusive contact with the streaming service. And this might be the best one yet. Which, I'm sure, some of you will joke that it shouldn't be too hard to top The Ridiculous 6 or The Do-Over, but those have been some of Netflix's biggest original movies to date. Today, we get the first trailer for Sandy Wexler, and it's pure Sandler gold!

Sandy Wexler will do for the 90s what The Wedding Singer did for the 80s, bringing a shot of nostalgia straight to the veins of the Millennial generation. Though, Sandler let this one simmer a little bit longer. The Wedding Singer arrived in 1998, not even a decade after the 80s had passed, and not everyone was as nostalgic for the era as some teens

Coming Distractions: Netflix’s Sandy Wexler takes Adam Sandler back to the ’90s, when he was funny

  • The AV Club
It’s not much, but it’s here—that statement currently applies to the brief teaser that Netflix has released for Sandy Wexler, the latest in its line of Adam Sandler comedic products. We’ll have to wait to see just how prescient it is, though this advance look doesn’t bolster much confidence. It’s just Sandler in glasses as Wexler, a wannabe Hollywood player. He carries a print copy of Variety, which is how you know he’s in the business, and also in the 1990s. There aren’t too many other touchstones of Sandler’s second favorite decade in this glimpse, other than his frames.

Also notably absent are ’90s holdovers Kevin James, Nick Swardson, and Rob Schneider. Jennifer Hudson co-stars as Sandy’s client and improbable love interest, whom he’ll presumably help land a guest role on Friends or something. Or maybe she’ll audition

This time around Sander stars as the titular character, a talent manager working in Los Angeles in the ‘90s who represents a group of eccentric clients in show biz. His devotion is put to the test when he falls in love with his newest client, Courtney Clarke (Jennifer Hudson), an incredible singer who he discovers at an amusement park.

‘Grandma’s Boy’ Creators Reunite For Comedy Central Web Series

It’s been ten years since the release of Grandma’s Boy, and over that decade, the comedy film has managed to carve out a cult following for itself. Fans of that movie can now rejoice; its co-star and co-written, Nick Swardson, has reunited with its director, Nicholaus Goossen, for a Comedy Central web series called Typical Rick.

In Typical Rick, Swardson stars as Gary, a schlubby wannabe actor who moves to Los Angeles and finds that his dreams of becoming a famous movie star are impeded not just by his own lack of skill but also by his roommate Rick (Simon Rex), whose own charm causes him to upstage Gary at every turn. In the first episode, Gary and Rick visit a headshot photographer, who dismisses Gary and his ugly turtleneck in favor of Rick’s good looks.

The “aspiring actor fails his way through L.A.” plot has
