"Creed" Tops 47th NAACP Image Awards Film Nominations! See Full List!

Ryan Coogler's "Creed" topped the NAACP Image Awards nomination which were revealed this morning. "Creed" received nods for best picture, director for Coogler, actor for Michael B. Jordan, writing for Coogler and Aaron Covington, and supporting actress noms for both Phylicia Rashad and Tessa Thompson.

We'll find out the winners on February 5 on the live airing of the ceremony on TV one.

‘Creed,’ ‘Empire,’ ‘Black-ish’ Lead NAACP Image Award Nominations
Creed” and “Straight Outta Compton” led the 47th NAACP Image Awards nominations on the film front, while “Empire” and “Black-ish” dominated the TV categories.

The nominees were announced Tuesday at a press conference held at the Paley Center for Media in Beverly Hills.

Creed” and “Compton” both scored outstanding motion picture noms, along with “Beasts of No Nation,” “Concussion” and “Dope.” Both dramas were also recognized in the supporting actor/actress fields (“Compton’s” Corey Hawkins and O’Shea Jackson, Jr. for outstanding supporting actor, and “Creed’s” Phylicia Rashad and Tessa Thompson for outstanding supporting actress), writing (Andrea Berloff and Jonathan Herman for “Compton,” and Ryan Coogler and Aaron Covington for “Creed”) and directing (F. The music-driven movie, featuring Disney's most infamous villains, will air on September 25 at 5.30pm on Disney Channel UK.

A soundtrack will be released in the same month, with songs performed by the cast.

Descendants playfully presents the possibilities of what happens after the 'happily ever after'.

Set in the kingdom of Auradon, the offspring of the likes of Maleficent, the Evil Queen, Cruella de Vil and Jafar are allowed in to attend prep school alongside the children of Fairy Godmother, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty and Mulan.

Themes include self-confidence, finding the beauty within and freedom of choice.

The first 6-minutes have debuted online, with Kenny Ortega introducing the movie and the wild thrills it contains. Here, we get to meet the teenage son of Belle and Beast, who rule over the fantasy kingdom of Auradon. All of the fairytale kingdoms have come together as one, for a story about what happens after 'happily ever after'.

Kenny Ortega describes Disney's Descendants as a modern fairy tale. As he puts it, it's a 'Once Upon a Now' story that will surely resonate with today's youth, as well as their parents alike. The Game: Season Nine Ratings

Considering The Game was cancelled by The CW after three seasons, it's hard to believe that Bet picked it up for six more seasons. It's been a big hit for the cable channel but now it's ending once again likely because the ratings have been coming down. Will the ratings pick up? Could it be renewed or revived for season 10? Gearing up for another year of excitement, the 46th Annual NAACP Image Awards just unveiled the first round of hopefuls and there are plenty of worthy contenders.

In the television categories, Shonda Rhimes’ series “Scandal” and “How to Get Away With Murder” are among the most nominated, though “Black-ish” is also up there.
