Automata Trailer: Sci-Fi Noir in the Prohibition Era

Van Alan's sci-fi noir series Automata has been a labor of love for the filmmaker. Based on the popular Penny Arcade web-comic characters, Automata follows private detective Sam Regal (Basil Harris from NBC's Grimm) and his automaton partner Carl Swangee (Doug Jones from Star Trek: Discovery, Hellboy) after they're hired to spy on a prominent businessman's spouse. The setting is New York City, in an alternate Prohibition America. In Van Alan's alternate reality, rather than liquor being outlawed the production of highly sentient robots, known as "automatons", becomes increasingly prohibited. It's a nifty concept. The series pilot is having its world premiere tonight, Thursday, June 29, at the 2017 Seriesfest with a second public screening on Saturday, July 1st....

K DVD Review

Director: Hiromitsu Kanazawa, Susumu Kudo

Starring: Daisuke Namikawa, Sam Regal, Daisuke Ono, Matthew Mercer, Kenjiro Tsuda, Keith Silverstein, Mikaka Komatsu, Stephanie Sheh, Tomokazu Sugita, Patrick Seitz

Running Time: 300 minutes

Certificate: 12

K represents many great ideas getting lost in an increasingly complicated plot. It is to the show’s credit though, that such convoluted strands are hinted at throughout and so do not come as an unwanted surprise. Many typical story elements are weaved together early on, including amnesia, mistaken identity, murder, prophecies, chosen ones, and magical cat girls. With so much going on it may sound crowded, but since the focus is on the most interesting element, a murder mystery that involves a seemingly natural schoolboy, it’s easy to ignore the political struggles of the 7 kings of the 7 clans that provide a canvas too big for the painting.

Yashiro (Namikawa/Regal) is a student at a large school situated on a single island.

Irrational Reveals The Full Voice Cast For 'Bioshock Infinite'

Troy Baker will be playing Booker while Courtnee Draper takes on the role of Elizabeth as Irrational lays out the "Mass Effect," "Kingdom Hearts II," and "Sealab 2021" vets among the cast portraying the heroes and villains of "Bioshock Infinite."

You can find the full cast list after the jump.

The coolest thing about this cast list is that it's populated by veteran voice actors and not simply sprinkled liberally with television and film actors putting in a couple of hours in the booth. "Dishonored" had a great cast of performers turning in one of the more uninspired collection of voice overs in recent memory.

as Booker DeWitt

Courtnee Draper

(Surf’s Up, Ponyo, and Kingdom Hearts II)

Tales Of Vesperia: The First Strike Blu-ray Review

Director: Kanta Kamei

Starring: Kosuke Toriumi, Troy Baker, Mamoru Miyano, Sam Riegel, Mai Nakahara, Cherami Leigh, Rika Morinaga, Luci Christian, Eiji Takemoto, Jonathan Brooks, Fumie Mizusawa, Leah Clark,

Running Time: 110 minutes

Certificate: 12

Tales Of Vesperia: First Strike is based on a video game. Not that you’d be able to tell from simply watching this film, as it is highly self contained and an absolute pleasure to watch. I’m sure there are bits and pieces that only fans of the game will get, and a few of the characters are obviously set up for expansion in the game itself, but other than that it’s a film that welcomes newcomers rather than isolating them.

The story is set in a fantasy world, where an item known as Aer is used as a power source. The use of Aer in its solidified form Apathia, is essential to fight against monsters.

Turtles Forever DVD Review

  • FilmJunk
Turtles Forever Directed by: Roy Burdine and Lloyd Goldfine Written by: Robert David, Matthew Drdek, Lloyd Goldfine Starring: Michael Sinterniklaas, Wayne Grayson, Sam Riegel, Gregory Abbey, Darren Dunstan, Marc Thompson, Veronica Taylor The times they are a changin'. Nowadays, even Michaelangelo is irritated by the grinning, pun-happy Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles of old. Sure, it may be a slap in the face to fans of the older series they grew up with, but Turtles Forever is just fan service topped with fan service with a side order of fan service. The concept is nothing short of brilliant, having multiple generations of the Ninja Turtles meet in their own dimensions via portals. The movie features three groups of Turtles: the recent '03 series, the original '90s cartoon, and the comic book source material. It's how these three intertwine that makes this work. What used to make total sense back in

Hasbro's "Transformers" are a big deal right now. It's like the '80s all over again, except the graphics are much, much better. Prime time then for gamers to take a jaunt across Cybertron, first overthrowing the filthy Autobot overlords and then beating back the vile Decepticon usurpers. That's exactly what players are tasked with doing in "Transformers: War for Cybertron," the latest effort from "The Bourne Conspiracy" developer High Moon Studios.

The Basics

"War for Cybertron" unfolds across 10 chapters split in half between two campaigns, one each for the Autobots and Decepticons. While players can start with either faction, the story first follows the Decepticons and their leader Megatron as they take control of the robot planet and infect its core with Dark Energon. The action then switches to the Autobots, led by a young upstart named Optimus after their leader Zeta Prime falls. The story is an entirely new concoction,
