For comic book fans, the premiere of a new adaptation of a favorite work is always a nerve-wracking thing. The hope is that the story will be captured well by the producers, while the reality is the history of comics adaptations is littered with massive disappointments.

So it’s a relief to see that so far, Hulu’s adaptation of the Brian K. Vaughn-created “Runaways” has lived up to the expectations of Marvel fans, while not being shy about making some significant changes to the story and the characters. However, there’s no reason to fear these changes, as many of them prove to be not necessarily an improvement on the original story, but clearly valuable when it comes to creating an episodic drama out of it.

The This Is Us star and the 48-year-old entertainer were spotted embracing on the set of their new movie, Second Act, in the Bronx, New York, on Monday night.

Lopez was all smiles wearing camo pants, a gray shirt under a black jacket with a fur hood and tan studded booties. Meanwhile, the 40-year-old actor, with his long hair and mustache, went in for a hug wearing blue jeans, an olive green jacket and black boots.

'This Is Us' Star Milo Ventimiglia to Play Jennifer Lopez's Boyfriend in 'Second Act'
Milo Ventimiglia has officially been cast to work on a project with another big-name pop star... Jennifer Lopez

The 40-year-old actor, who currently stars opposite Mandy Moore on NBC's This Is Us, will be joining the singer in STXFilms' Second Act.

Directed by Peter Segal (50 First Dates, Anger Management), the romantic comedy will follow the story of a big-box store employee, portrayed by Lopez, who tries to prove that in New York City, street smarts are just "as valuable as a college degree."

Deadline reports that Ventimiglia will play Lopez's longtime boyfriend, Trey.

Milo Ventimiglia will play Jennifer Lopez’s longtime boyfriend in the upcoming romantic comedy “Second Act.”

Ventimiglia recently received an Emmy nomination for outstanding lead actor in a drama series for his role as Jack Pearson on NBC’s “This Is Us.”

Peter Segal will direct the film, which was developed by STXfilms with Lopez from an idea conceived by Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas, who’s collaborated with Lopez before, and Justin Zackham.

The movie is in the vein of “Maid in Manhattan” and “Working Girl.” Lopez will play a big-box store employee who reinvents her life and her lifestyle, and gets the chance to prove to Madison Avenue that street smarts are as valuable as a college degree.

Second Act” is written by Zackham (“Lights Out”) and Goldsmith-Thomas. The producers are Goldsmith-Thomas, Lopez, Zackham, and Benny Medina.
