The 10 Best Lgbtq Films of 2017, From ‘Call Me by Your Name’ to ‘Bpm’

The 10 Best Lgbtq Films of 2017, From ‘Call Me by Your Name’ to ‘Bpm’
In years past, Lgbt cinephiles counted themselves lucky for one decent movie with a queer storyline. Looking at the depth and breadth of Lgbt films to come out in 2017, it’s clear that “Moonlight” was just a harbinger of great things to come for queer cinema. With growing social acceptance comes increased funding for movies with queer themes, support for Lgbt-identified filmmakers, and less stigma around straight actors playing gay. This year brought a breakthrough performance from transgender actress Daniela Vega, saw A-lister Emma Stone play lesbian icon Billie Jean King, and a strong Oscar contender in Luca Guadagnino’s sumptuous “Call Me By Your Name.”

Grey's Anatomy 300th Ep Burning Qs: Ep Krista Vernoff on Mia Addison, Izzie Tribute and That 'Devastating' Gaffe
Grey’s Anatomy aired its landmark 300th episode Thursday night (read our recap), and, coincidentally, that also happens to be the number of questions we were left with at the conclusion of the nostalgic hour. Luckily, co-showrunner Krista Vernoff — who also penned the satisfying installment — agreed to hop on the phone with TVLine to tackle a dozen of the biggest head-scratchers.

Tvline | I want to start at the end with that really great Ellis cameo, which would have packed a bigger emotional punch had her name not appeared in the opening credits.

[Heavy Sigh] Listen…

'Grey's Anatomy' Celebrates 300 Episodes With Tributes to Original Cast

'Grey's Anatomy' Celebrates 300 Episodes With Tributes to Original Cast
Grey's Anatomy turns 300!

The ABC medical drama aired their 300th episode on Thursday night, in an hour paying tribute to several iconic moments from its 14 seasons.

An accident at a country fair brings in a variety of patients to Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital, several of whom look shockingly similar to original characters Cristina (Sandra Oh), George (T.R. Knight) and Izzie (Katherine Heigl) -- and even say "seriously," like the Fab Five did in early seasons.

The original cast is also honored when a new class of interns is shown in the tunnel that the Fab Five previously called home, with “Glasses” even tripping like George did in the pilot when they get a page. The group then runs across the catwalk, as Meredith and Alex tell them to slow down -- which they were told to do in the pilot.

‘The Misogynists’ Teaser Trailer: A Trump Supporter Wreaks Havoc in Election Night Black Comedy

‘The Misogynists’ Teaser Trailer: A Trump Supporter Wreaks Havoc in Election Night Black Comedy
November 8, 2016 may be a day that will live in infamy for many. For Onur Tukel, it was inspiration for his next film. The indie provocateur behind “Catfight,” “Applesauce” and “Summer of Blood” decided to explore how a Trump supporter experienced the fateful night. This tongue-in-cheek exploration of a divided America digs deep into the night’s mass existential crisis, finding disquieting results. Dylan Baker (“The Americans”) leads the cast with a gleefully deranged performance, altnerately provoking and pontificating throughout the film’s wild first teaser trailer.

'Grey's Anatomy' Star Kevin McKidd on the Storyline That Made Sandra Oh 'Jealous' (Exclusive)

'Grey's Anatomy' Star Kevin McKidd on the Storyline That Made Sandra Oh 'Jealous' (Exclusive)
There's been 300 episodes of Grey's Anatomy, and Kevin McKidd can't believe it.

Et's Leanne Aguilera caught up with the 44-year-old actor at the series' 300th episode celebration at Tao in Los Angeles on Saturday, where he reflected on his nearly 10 years playing Dr. Owen Hunt.

"When I first joined the show in season five, [I was a] Scottish actor straight from Scotland and they just celebrated the 100th episode,  and at the time, I was like, 'How does anybody ever get to 100 episodes?'" McKidd recalled. "So just to be here tonight when we've gotten to 300 episodes, its an unbelievable achievement."

"It's changed my entire life. I am and always will be just a working actor because of Grey's Anatomy, and Shonda Rhimes has given me an opportunity to become a director as well, which would have never happened if it wasn't for this," he added. "I kind of pinch myself everyday when I come into work, and I still haven't

‘My Friend Dahmer’ Trailer: Anne Heche Is Unhinged in This Gripping Portrait of the Serial Killer as a Young Man — Watch

‘My Friend Dahmer’ Trailer: Anne Heche Is Unhinged in This Gripping Portrait of the Serial Killer as a Young Man — Watch
For those obsessed with the lurid things in life, a campy new biopic on notorious serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer’s teenage years is sure to satisfy. In the official trailer for “My Friend Dahmer,” which premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival earlier this year, Disney Channel star Ross Lynch inhabits the role of the teenaged murderer with an eerie calmness. Anne Heche makes a brief but memorable appearance as Dahmer’s troubled mother, and Dallas Roberts (“Dallas Buyers Club”) plays his tortured father.

One of America’s most infamous serial killers, Dahmer murdered 17 men and boys between 1978 and 1991 before being captured and incarcerated. “My Friend Dahmer” tells the story of what happened to make him that way. Directed by Marc Meyers, the film is based on a graphic novel by Derf Backderf, who knew Dahmer in high school and appears as a character in the film.

Question: Please tell me the glimpse we got of Cristina in the Grey’s Anatomy premiere foreshadowed an actual appearance by Sandra Oh this season. — Janet

Ausiello: I and, for that matter, Grey’s Ep Krista Vernoff would love to tell you that that was happening. “I would give anything for a visit from Sandra Oh,” she says, adding with a laugh, “Do you know her? Can you call her and talk her into it?” In all seriousness,

This Throwback on the Grey's Season Premiere Was So Subtle, You Probably Missed It

Don't get us wrong, we had our qualms with the Grey's Anatomy season 14 premiere. Owen's sister Megan seems a little bit too fine. Amelia Shepherd is facing a very familiar threat. And Meredith Grey may be on the verge of her next great tragedy. But for all the grief the show can cause with its pitfalls and devastations, sometimes all it takes is one small moment of nostalgia to loop us back in. In the case of season 14's kick-off, Meredith actually uses a very old Cristina quote when talking to Jo. And here's the crazy thing: the Cristina quote in question dates all the way back to the series premiere. Let's go over the glorious parallels. In the very first episode of the series, all of the interns compete to figure out what's wrong with Derek Shepherd's young patient. As a reward, whoever finds the answer gets the honor
