Why Jason Mraz Walked Away from Musical Theatre and How Waitress Gave Him a 'Raincheck'
Before Jason Mraz‘s debut album Waiting for My Rocket to Come dropped in 2002, launching a career that has won him millions of fans and a series of accolades (including two Grammys), the 40-year-old singer-songwriter planned for a career in musical theatre.

“Many young people in the performing arts, when you’re in high school, you have show choir, musicals, and drama. And because I like to sing and perform, those are the classes and programs I took,” Mraz tells People. “I assumed musical theatre would be the route I would take.”

But when he moved to New York City

Jason Mraz Finds Making His Broadway Debut in ‘Waitress’ Less Grueling Than Going on Tour (Exclusive)

Jason Mraz Finds Making His Broadway Debut in ‘Waitress’ Less Grueling Than Going on Tour (Exclusive)
“It’s a good gig,” Jason Mraz says of what he’s calling a “Broadway Retreat,” making his acting and Broadway debut as Dr. Pomatter in a 10-week limited run of Waitress on Broadway.

The singer, who officially took his first bow on Nov. 3, tells Et that eight performances a week onstage at the Brooks Atkinson Theater in New York City is “less grueling” than a typical touring schedule. “I am not leaving town or changing venues. I am not onstage for three hours singing 25 songs. Broadway, in a sense, is easier, at least currently in the role that I’m in.”

Based on the 2007 film starring Keri Russell, Waitress tells the story of Jenna Hunterson, currently played by Betsy Wolfe, a pregnant pie maker in an unhappy marriage who falls in love with her married gynecologist, Dr. Pomatter. “Suddenly this patient comes along who disarms him and has him step out of his comfort zone; a boring

Crazy Ex-Girlfriend Season 2 Episode 5 Review: Why Is Josh's Ex-Girlfriend Eating Carbs?

  • TVfanatic
I used to like guacamole; now I don't like guacamole.

If it worked on guacamole, it could work on Crazy Ex-Girlfriend.

Crazy Ex-Girlfriend Season 2 Episode 5 hit its own 'refresh' button on West Covina.

The task of writing out a series regular for most television shows requires something similar to the resetting of a chess board.

Every major piece needs to go back to where they started in order to move forward again, this time with a new strategy and a new endgame in mind.

What the writers of Crazy Ex-Girlfriend do with the series in the post-Greg era is move Rebecca and her friends forward with stories that satiate the drama of a love triangle, but showcase what Rachel Bloom and Aline Brosh-McKenna have been saying all along; this isn’t a show about romance.

And I'm not sold on this new normal – yet.

We’ve got a lot to talk about.

20 Wedding Songs to Skip Unless You Want Your Wedding to Be Like Everyone Else's

  • BuzzSugar
Everyone thinks their wedding is the most beautiful, the most creative, and the most fun - but according to Spotify's 2015 wedding music statistics, first dance songs and reception playlists are pretty much the same across the globe. The music streaming service released its findings over the Summer with a list of 20 songs that are the most popular globally. Not surprisingly, John Legend's ballad "All of Me" is the top choice for tying the knot, while Jason Mraz is a favorite for first dances. When it comes to the songs that get guests out on the dance floor, the most played reception songs include Bruno Mars's "Marry You," Ed Sheeran's "Thinking Out Loud," and even "Blurred Lines" by Robin Thicke. It's not all new radio hits that made the list, though, as "At Last" by Etta James and "Can't Help Falling In Love" by Elvis Presley are also popular old-school choices.
