John McCain Hospitalized Due to Side Effects From His Brain Cancer Treatment
Sen. John McCain has been hospitalized to treat side effects related to his cancer therapy.

The Arizona senator, 81, is currently receiving treatment at Walter Reed Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland, for “normal side effects of his ongoing cancer therapy,” according to a statement released by his office on Wednesday.

“As ever, he remains grateful to his physicians for their excellent care, and his friends and supporters for their encouragement and good wishes. Senator McCain looks forward to returning to work as soon as possible,” the statement read.

The former vice president was a guest on The View on Wednesday, where he consoled Meghan McCain about her father, Sen. John McCain, who was diagnosed with glioblastoma, an aggressive form of brain cancer, earlier this year.

Biden is all too familiar with this form of cancer, as it's the same diagnosis his late son, Beau, received.

"I think about Beau almost every day," McCain said, tearing up. "I was told that this doesn't get easier. But you cultivate the tools to work with this and live with this. I know you and your family have been through tragedy that I couldn't perceive of. What would you tell people ... it's not about me, it's about everyone... "

Biden then got up from his seat, walked over to McCain and comforted her by holding her hand.
