Now on Blu-ray: Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2's Daddy Issues Light Up Your TV Screen

When it was announced that cult film favorite James Gunn (Super, Dawn of the Dead, Slither) was going to take the reigns of Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy, a segment of the film underground was taken aback. While the McU had toyed with having directors who were notorious for perhaps being a bit experimental and pulpy - Louis Leterrier, Joss Whedon, Joe Johnston - none were as out of left field as Gunn. A truly subversive filmmaker who cut his teeth in the Troma sweatshops and whose previous features as a director, Slither and Super, were cult hits, but considered a bit too weird for mainstream audiences, Gunn's vision of the Guardians was sure to be spectacular, but what was unclear was whether it would...

Mark Ruffalo: Standalone ‘Hulk’ Movie ‘Will Never Happen’ Because Universal ‘Don’t Want to Make Money’
We’ve learned a lot about movies that will happen at the D23 Expo this weekend, from “Toy Story 3” to “Avengers: Infinity War.” Courtesy of Mark Ruffalo, who will reprise his role as Bruce Banner/The Hulk in the latter, we also learned about one movie that won’t be made — and the reason why.

“I want to just make one thing perfectly clear today: A standalone Hulk movie will never happen,” Ruffalo said when asked about the prospect at D23. Two have already been made — Eric Bana played Hulk in Ang Lee’s 2003 version, with Edward Norton following suit in Louis Leterrier’s version five years later — but not since Ruffalo took over. Ruffalo is flanked by Don Cheadle, Aka War Machine, who offers a different theory: “With you as the new Hulk,

Wonder Woman 2: Patty Jenkins & Gal Gadot To Return For Contemporary Sequel

It’s never a sure thing that a director will be back for a film’s sequel. If you look at Marvel’s Phase 1, the only director to carry over to multiple films was Jon Favreau, and the rest — Kenneth Branagh, Joe Johnston, and Louis Leterrier, were all replaced in successive sequels. With shared universe, studios are often figuring things out as they go, and as they find their dynamic, they may find that a particular filmmaker’s style or vision doesn’t fit in with the system they’ve established.

With Geoff Johns taking the helm as DC Films president, it was very possible that directors who had made their mark on the Dceu in their early films, may no longer have a place there, including Patty Jenkins. However, with Wonder Woman killing it in reviews, and well on its way to box office success, more and more, it

The Dark Crystal Prequel Series To Hit Netflix, Check Out The Teaser! [Video]

The Dark Crystal holds a dark, creepy place in our hearts. It was a film that was very much in the vein of a lot of fantasies of the time, with the big difference being that it was a world made up entirely by puppets. And no, these weren’t your average fluffy puppets. These were dark, twisted, and demented creatures. Even crazier were the “Gelflings,” who ventured dangerously deep into the uncanny valley. All the same, it was a film very notable for its production design and visuals.

Nowadays, virtually everything is being remade, rebooted, sequelized, prequelized, and everything in between. Recently, there was word of Labyrinth getting a sequel. But if you thought that’s where it would end, you’d be wrong. Now, a new teaser from Netflix shows that the folks over at Jim Henson have been hard at work at creating a prequel to the beloved 1982 film.

The Dark Crystal: first teaser for Netflix prequel

Joseph Baxter May 19, 2017

Netflix gives a series order to The Dark Crystal: Age Of Resistance, a prequel to a 1982 fantasy classic from Jim Henson...

The Dark Crystal first entered the pop-culture fray as a fantastical theatrical offering during the 1982 Christmas season.

Directed by Jim Henson and Frank Oz, featuring then-groundbreaking animatronics and imaginative creatures from Henson’s Creature Shop, the Tolkien-esque fantasy film earned its share of fans, but was hardly a box-office smash. However, its fandom has apparently endured enough to warrant Netflix’s greenlight for offshoot series The Dark Crystal: Age Of Resistance.

Netflix has given a 10-episode series order for The Dark Crystal: Age Of Resistance, which will serve as a prequel, set, they put it, “many years” before the events of the original 1982 movie.

While Netflix did not provide details regarding when we can expect The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance, it did release a teaser video,
