‘X-Files’ Season 11 Premiere Date Announced

Agents Mulder (David Duchovny) and Scully (Gillian Anderson) are back on the case. Fox Network has announced that season 11 of the cult Sci-Fi television show will return in January 2018. So get the popcorn ready and set the DVR up for Wednesday, January. 3rd. The ‘X-Files‘ have now be re-opened for the agents to discover the truth.

Fans can expect some familiar faces this upcoming season. Mitch Pileggi will return as FBI Assistant Director Walter Skinner. The Cigarette Smoking Man (William B Davis) will also return to expand his secret agenda and give Mulder some more worrisome nights. The ‘Lone Gunmen’ (Tom Braidwood, Dean Haglund, and Bruce Harwood) have been confirmed for the upcoming season. It sounds as if Season 11 will center on searching for William ( Mulder & Scullly’s baby with “special power’s”). Season 11 will also deliver 8 monster of the week episodes that is not connected to the alien mythology of the series.

Fox has set the premiere dates for “The X-Files” and Ryan Murphy‘s “9-1-1.”

The X-Files” launches the second chapter of its event series on Wednesday, Jan. 3, at 8 p.m. “9-1-1,” a procedural focusing on emergency responders, follows at 9 p.m.

Fox has also released a new promo for “9-1-1,” which includes stars Angela Bassett, Connie Britton and Peter Krause. The spot can be seen above.

After four seasons in front of the camera as one of the recurring stars of Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk’s American Horror Story, Angela Bassett has returned to the series -- only this time as director of the ninth episode (“Drink the Kool-Aid”) of Cult. And the actress tells Et that she was honored to helm her second episode of the anthology series, but happy that she had no idea it would be the coveted Halloween episode. “I wasn’t intimidated until last week,” says Bassett, who was pleased with her second opportunity to go behind the camera, adding that the success of the episode all started with the script. “It’s a script you can go buck wild with. I feel fortunate that I got a great script.”

Connie Britton is back!

Less than a year after her Nashville departure, the 50-year-old actress has a brand new gig, courtesy of Ryan Murphy, with whom she worked on The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story and the first season of American Horror Story.

Britton stars as a 911 dispatcher in Fox’s new show, 9-1-1, and we can’t think of anyone else we’d rather have on the case (other than Angela Bassett and Peter Krause, who also star in the drama, of course).

“There are two types of emergency. The first kind is the one we all have everyday,” Britton says in 9-1-1’s promo. “Then there’s the second kind of emergency, the kind that comes without warning.”

Ryan Murphy’s 9-1-1 is calling for reinforcements: Prison Break alum Rockmond Dunbar and Underground‘s Aisha Hinds are joining the cast of the upcoming Fox drama as series regulars, TVLine has learned.

Dunbar, currently co-starring on Hulu’s The Path, is best remembered for playing C-Note on Prison Break, a role he reprised when the Fox series was revived earlier this year. Hinds earned strong Emmy buzz for her portrayal of abolitionist hero Harriet Tubman in Wgn America’s Underground; her other TV credits include Shots Fired and Under the Dome.
