Dylan Sprouse on His Killer New Role, Life After Disney, and Why He Doesn’t Watch ‘Riverdale’

Dylan Sprouse on His Killer New Role, Life After Disney, and Why He Doesn’t Watch ‘Riverdale’
Dylan Sprouse is no stranger to the big screen, having started his acting career at just eight months old alongside his identical, younger twin brother, Cole. From their breakout role in Adam Sandler’s “Big Daddy” to becoming Disney Channel stars as tweens, the Sprouse Twins seemed destined for a lifelong career in show business until they both took a break from acting to attend New York University in 2011. While Cole returned to television in 2016 to star as Jughead Jones in the CW’s hit series “Riverdale,” Dylan is finally making his own return to acting with the lead role in a new thriller, “Dismissed.”

Sprouse plays Lucas Ward, a high schooler who transfers into the classroom of English teacher Mr. Butler (Kent Osbourne). On the surface, Lucas seems like a dream student. He’s punctual, earns straight A’s, and comes to class tucked into pressed pants and blazers — an overachiever,

Film Review: Agatha Christie’s ‘Crooked House’

Film Review: Agatha Christie’s ‘Crooked House’
We find ourselves at a curious moment in Hollywood history when producers seem obsessed with turning every property, from the Avengers comics to Agatha Christie’s mystery novels, into a potential franchise. Earlier this fall, the twist at the end of Fox’s “Murder on the Orient Express” wasn’t whodunit (practically everyone knew the solution going in) but the tantalizing suggestion that Belgian super-sleuth Hercule Poirot couldn’t stick around, since his services were needed to investigate a “Death on the Nile.”

The trouble facing studios with this “extended universe” impulse is that they can’t always maintain a monopoly on characters (the X-Men lived at Fox, and Sony had Spider-Man at the moment Disney started making Marvel movies), allowing others to swoop in and take advantage of the goodwill a successful tentpole builds for any associated characters. Take Christie’s murder-mystery oeuvre. The British crime novelist wrote at least 70 books, and Fox can

‘House of Cards,’ ‘Transparent,’ ‘Today Show’ and More: A Complete Guide To TV Rocked By Sexual Harassment Scandals

Hollywood’s sexual harassment scandals have had an immediate effect on the industry — and on TV viewers as well. As networks and studios are confronted with allegations of misconduct and assault by their stars, producers, and even executives, heightened publicity has also prevented them from sweeping such news under the rug.

Instead, from morning to primetime, broadcast, cable and streaming services have been faced with making big moves on some of their biggest properties. In the $1 billion morning show competition, both NBC’s “Today” and CBS’ “This Morning” fired key anchors. Netflix’s and Amazon’s signature, award-winning dramas are expected to return without their lead stars. Paramount Network planned to launch by leveraging the Weinstein brand — but that strategy is dead. And FX must now rebuild its comedy brand without the producer who inspired much of it.

Here’s a continually updated roundup of TV productions that have been

So the friends team up and decide to rob the local supermarket.
