Lightning Strikes in First Animated Artwork for Shane Black’s The Predator

  • DailyDead
In the summer of 2018, one of the galaxy's most feared hunters will return to the big screen with the release of Shane Black's The Predator. Released on the Predator Official Fan App (after making an appearance at the London licensing expo), the new animated artwork can be viewed below. While an official synopsis has yet to be released, the lightning formation of a Predator's head above a city seems to indicate a well-populated setting for the new installment of the Predator franchise.

Slated for an August 3rd, 2018 release from 20th Century Fox, The Predator was directed by Black, who co-starred as the wisecracking Rick Hawkins in 1987's Predator. Black worked from a screenplay he co-wrote with Fred Dekker,

Boyd Holbrook Comments on The Predator, Discusses How it’s “Not a Sequel”

  • DailyDead
Between Narcos, Morgan, and the upcoming Logan, Boyd Holbrook has been staying busy as of late, but perhaps his biggest role is yet to come in Shane Black's The Predator, which the actor recently shed some light on, including how it is not a sequel.

Speaking with We Got This Covered, Holbrook insisted that The Predator is something new rather than a sequel:

"It’s not a sequel; Shane Black has made something totally new, somehow keeping within the realm of Predator [while also being] absolutely new in terms of the story that we’re talking about today, and rooted in something real."

There has also been some speculation that Arnold Schwarzenegger could reprise his role as Dutch from the original Predator in the new movie, but Holbrook doesn't believe that will be the case:

"I don’t think you’re going to see [Arnold] Schwarzenegger. It would kind of make it a gimmick.

The Predator Reboot On The Cusp Of Pre-Production, Shane Black Teases R Rating

Six years ago, 20th Century Fox circled back to the well for a full-fledged reboot of Predator. In what should have been a return to form for the cult sci-fi series, particularly after those dreadful Alien crossover movies, Nimród Antal’s modern redo struggled to make much of an impact.

And so, our attention is now drawn to The Predator, Shane Black’s 2018 sequel that is out to recapture the spirit of the 1987 original, one in which Black himself starred in as Rick Hawkins. Now, The Nice Guys director has been elected at the helm of Fox’s overhaul, and is currently fine-tuning a script he penned with the help of Fred Dekker. Casting is already underway, and though it appeared The Predator had landed its first major star in Benicio Del Toro, we learned that the Guardians of the Galaxy actor has now been replaced by Boyd Holbrook (Logan

Benicio del Toro in Talks to Star in ‘Predator’ Reboot
Benicio del Toro is in early talks to star in Fox’s “The Predator,” a reboot of the “Predator” alien action franchise that launched in 1987.

Shane Black is directing from a script by Fred Dekker. John Davis, Joel Silver, and Lawrence Gordon — who produced the original — are producing with hopes to begin shooting next year.

Plot details are under wraps. The original was directed by John McTiernan and starred Arnold Schwarzenegger, Carl Weathers, and Jesse Ventura as commandos stalked in a jungle.

Fox released “Predator 2” in 1990 and “Predators” in 2010, as well as crossover films with the Alien franchise, “Alien vs. Predator” (2004) and

Predator 4 Begins Shooting This October
Predator 4, which some are simply calling The Predator, is going to be a massive event film unlike any seen in the franchise thus far. Shane Black promises that in a recent interview as he hits the road to promote his upcoming comedy The Nice Guys, which is in theaters later this month. The director, who is also known for Kiss Kiss Bang Bang and Iron Man 3, has now confirmed that this gargantuan blockbuster he's planning will being shooting this October.

Director Shane Black was talking with Afp when he made the announcement. The movie won't be in theaters until March 2018, which gives the filmmaker ample time to make the best Predator movie to date, though many will argue that there is no topping the original Arnold Schwarzenegger classic from 1987.

The Predator reboot story is being kept tightly under wraps, though it is confirmed to be a sequel to the first movies,
