The Trailer for Samurai Cop 2: Deadly Vengeance Is Here!

Holy shit guys! No, seriously. Dreams are coming true with the video above. I heard about Samurai Cop in the mid 2000’s when Media Blasters put out the DVD with the Joe Bob Briggs commentary. Rumors were that the man who played the title character, Joe Marshall (aka. The Samurai Cop), Matt Hannon had shuffled off this mortal coil. Hell, that’s what I was telling people when we showed Samurai Cop at Late Nite Grindhouse. Then, last year, Hannon emerged via a YouTube video stating & proving that he was still alive and in excellent shape.

The ball started rolling from there. Gregory Hatanaka, who is behind Cinema Epoch and was releasing all of the original director’s, Amir Shervan, films, met up with Hannon and others and started an Kickstarter to get the feature some funding. Bai Ling, Lexi Belle and Tommy Wiseau join up with Matt Hannon, Mark Frazer

Evan Jacobs' 'Watching a Movie' Gets a Fully Restored Re-Release

Cinema Epoch and Anhedenia Films have teamed up for the On Demand re-release of Evan Jacobs' artsy classic, Watching a Movie.

Made in 1997, this film chronicles one man's attempt to make a movie about himself watching a movie.

Shot on a lark in four 4 hour days over the summer, this movie, despite it's seemingly banal plot, found worldwide distribution when it was first released on VHS. Making its way into video stores (when those still existed), it eventually saw release on DVD and then Video On Demand via Amazon.

Cinema Epoch recently "cleaned up" this film and is releasing it to the public. In keeping with Watching a Movie's minimalistic tone, they have priced it at the lowest rental price for a feature film in the history of streaming. You can check out the trailer here:

Cinema Epoch President Gregory Hatanaka says,

"We are extremely proud to be Watching

Evan Jacobs' Dv Gets Horror-Depth 3D Release from Cinema Epoch; DV2 Announced!

Evan Jacobs' Dv Gets Horror-Depth 3D Release from Cinema Epoch; DV2 Announced!
Evan Jacobs ' low-fi odyssey Dv has been picked up for worldwide distribution by Burbank, CA based distributor Cinema Epoch. In order to increase the viewing experience, Cinema Epoch plans to offer this title on DVD in what they call "Terror-Depth 3D."

States Cinema Epoch owner, Gregory Hatanaka.

"In the tradition of Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer, Evan Jacobs has created an intense journey into the mind of a madman. The experience, especially in 3D, is horrifying and claustrophobic! We are delighted to finally be working with Evan Jacobs on Dv after having first seen his work in Watching a Movie fifteen years ago. Dv is one of the most terrifying experiences you will ever have, especially in 3D - the realism is so genuine that one forgets it is a movie and not real life."

As a bonus, the disc will include Dv in both 2D and 3D.

Blue Dream | Review - Sf IndieFest 2013

Writer-director Gregory Hatanaka's Blue Dream is a very strange film. It is one of those films that every five minutes or so, I would take a double-take, press the pause button and think to myself "wait, what did I miss?" After a while, though, I acclimated to the fact that Blue Dream exists purely in the unreliable, drug-riddled mind of the protagonist, Robert Harmon (James Duval). From that point on, the pressure was off to try to "get" Blue Dream, instead I just settled in [with a vaporizer] for the wild and crazy ride. From what I can hobble together from the narrative, Robert lives the high stress lifestyle of a newspaper reporter. Whenever he is not at his desk cranking out content like a robot on -- well -- crank, Robert tries to live life to its fullest with a steady diet of drugs, booze and women. Amanda (Pollyanna McIntosh) is

Mad Cowgirl Director Returns With Blue Dream

Director Gregory Hatanaka is, to put it mildly, a madman. His films are wild concoctions of disparate influences jammed together with an urgent energy, the sorts of things that seem steeped more in experimental theater than they do with any sort of mainstream film culture. He first came to attention here thanks to his 2006 effort Mad Cowgirl and he's back now with Blue Dream.James Duval, Dominique Swain, Pollyanna McIntosh, Kayden Kross, Noah Hathaway, Walter Koenig, Sal Landi and Richard Riehle star in the story of a news writer who finds himself caught up in a world of sex, drugs and corporate takeovers as he tries to solve a series of murders. This, of course, only scratches the surface of what Hatanaka is up to....
