Kyle Young, CEO of the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum, tells Et that Tillis' death "brings such sadness" and describes him as "one of the funniest and most genuine people."

"Mel Tillis spent a lifetime giving us joy and laughter and music, which is why his death brings such sadness," Young says. Miranda Remembers Merle and Blake Pays Tribute to Glen at Acm Honors
If ever there was a reminder of country music's transcendent power, it was Tuesday night's Acm Honors. The event managed to gracefully honor both Glen Campbell and Tanya Tucker - for years the two had an infamously turbulent love affair - showcase both Blake and Miranda (separately - with their movements carefully orchestrated so the two exes wouldn't cross paths) and seamlessly blend the R&B stylings of Alicia Keys into the genre. Before the show even began, there was controversy: on Monday after the Acm announced the creation of the new Merle Haggard Spirit Award, alt-country singer Sturgill Simpson

Dear Indiana: If you're so antigay, why did you give us these gay icons?

Dear Indiana: If you're so antigay, why did you give us these gay icons?
Indiana's coolness took a south bend this week when Gov. Mike Pence signed into law a bill that allows businesses to turn away Lgbt customers on the grounds of "religious freedom." Sort of makes you wish that "not sucking" was a religion.  To remind Indiana lawmakers why their nonsense is, well, nonsense, let's take a look at some gay icons and iconography that originated in Indiana. If you're so concerned about protecting the hatred of gay people, why do these folks below rule so much?    Adam Lambert, our Precious Moments figurine version of George Michael The wailing "American Idol" runner-up came out in the most decadent way possible: with a Rolling Stone cover story and salacious serpentine imagery. Lambert was raised in Southern California but was born in Indianapolis, which basically makes him a living version of "Saved by the Bell."  "Let's Hear It for the Boy" queen Deniece Williams

Thoughts I Had... while looking at new "Into the Woods" images

If there is one thing in life that's certain at Tfe beyond daily postings, Actress mania, Oscar chart delays, and time-jumping movie coverage, it's this: if Meryl Streep is featured there are a bajillion comments. And yet the last two Streep attacks, a look back at 2009 and a subliminal Hours reunion proved the exception. Is this merely summer doldrums or a sign of the Streepocalypse? Or were people just waiting for Into the Woods news? If so, it has arrived.

Update: And the Teaser too!

Yesterday a bunch of new images surfaced from the movie and you know how this goes. We look at the image and we list off thoughts as they come without self-censorship to keep the brain loose and the words flowing and to not be too mundane about what this actually is - free advertising for Disney and regurgitated photo sharing.

Review: Kermit & Co. bring the fun (and the fuzz) in delightful 'Muppets Most Wanted'
As a professional film critic -- whatever that may be -- I have a handful of concrete rules by which I ply my ostensible trade, and not reviewing films by or heavily involving close friends is one of them. Which presents a bit of a problem when tasked with writing about any given Muppet movie. No, I can't claim I've ever knocked back a beer with Kermit the Frog, gone shopping with Miss Piggy or got close to any of the cloth-skinned crowd without the dividing wall of a television screen between us, but damn it if I don't feel closer to them than I do to any number of human names in my address book. Growing up, I knew their vaudeville numbers inside out. I'd record the umpteenth rerun of even the Crystal Gayle episode with completist's excitement. And I treasured my Kermit toothbrush until the bristles began falling out,

I read the first four books in the series when I was a kid, and I remember silently weeping in study hall when I got to the end of #4 Seeds Of Yesterday.

Country Music’s 10 Greatest Moments (For Gays Who Don’t Care About Country Music)

(Source)

The 2013 Cmt Awards flew by in a rush of big hats and southern accents, and what a sweet cavalcade of talent it was! Jason Aldean mixed it up with Lenny Kravitz, Sheryl Crow presented the biggest award of the night with Kenny Rogers, and Video of the Year winners Lady Antebellum thrilled me by putting vocalist Charles Kelley in the hottest, tightest pants imaginable. Call me John Denver, because when it comes to sexual tastes, thank God I’m a country boy.

Today, I’m hoping to reach out to non-country fans with a definitive list: the 10 greatest moments in country music for gay guys who don’t care about country music. 'American Idol' Top 5: Has Amber Holcomb done enough to stay?

Here we go -- it's on like Donkey Kong on "American Idol" now. Janelle Arthur has lagged behind the other women some weeks, so we'd love to see her make smart song choices and make this a real dogfight for who moves on.

For theme, Round 1 is Year of Birth and Round 2 is Divas. Year of Birth has ceased to be that much fun anymore, now that everybody is like 12 years old. Kidding, kidding -- but not really.

1. Candice Glover, 1989, "Straight Up"

She's doing the slow-jam, R&B-bordering-on-reggae version of Paula Abdul's big hit. It's ... interesting. We don't hate it and her voice is smooth as butter, as per usual, but for that year, we wouldn't have minded Candice having a nice ballad moment on "If You Don't Know Me by Now." Yeah, we wish she had done that Simply Red number.

That was a great vocal, we just
